Little slice of heaven in Montana
The Schindler Ranch home is so peaceful and serene, it was just what we needed for our vacation! Our family of four had a wonderful time there. The home is spacious, very clean and extremely comfortable with all of the modern amenities to keep our kiddos happy. We made precious memories there and took some amazing photos day after day! The views of the mountain ranges and the big sky sunsets were spectacular. Tammy was an amazing and thoughtful host, we will definitely be back!
Beautiful Big Hole Valley
This is a peaceful home in beautiful surroundings. Three families gathered for the 4th of July here. We all had a great time. Plenty of room--clean and comfortable. We didn't catch any fish, but didn't spend a lot of time fishing. We went to Crystal Park to dig for crystals and found some nice specimens. Nearby restaurants were great, but the kitchen is well stocked with spices, condiments, etc. So cooking was easy. Everything that we needed was right there for us. Highly recommend this home!
What a great place to go! We had trout for breakfast every day and it was wonderful. Although all of us did not fish, there were so many more things to do! I watched a doe and her fawn from the front window for quite some time. We saw antelope, elk, deer, and the views were to die for. One day we took a trip to the Lez Perce Indian battle ground and learned a lot about the tribe and its tribulations, I would definitely recommend this. On Saturday we drove into the little town of Jackson and had dinner at the Jackson Hot Springs restaurant/Bar. Although they have a Mexican Food restaurant too, we did not try it.
The Best of the Best
We have vacationed in Montana for years and consider this wonderful rental the best we've ever rented. Of course with the Big Hole River literally in your backyard, the fishing is unmatched. But the views, the wildlife and the nearby town of Jackson offer a great slice of the true Montana. My husband and I hope to return here again.
Big Hole Beauty
I vacation in SW Montana every year to fly fish with my family. This was, hands down, the best place we've rented in terms of fishing, wildlife viewing and scenery. The town of Jackson has a great restaurant and bar at Jackson Hot Springs. The house was very clean and everything was as advertised. We saw elk and deer every night, even saw a moose. The fishing was incredible, mostly Brookies and big. I will be back to this wonderful Big Hole Valley ranch.
Big Hole Valley - Fabulous Flyfishing
This property is a working cattle ranch and very remote in the Big Hole Valley in southwestern Montana. The comfortable accommodations provided all of the necessities (dishwasher, mircrowave, coffee maker, washer and dryer, etc.).
The flyfishing was fabulous (bordering on the ridiculous). Most of the fish were 10 to 12 inches with a few 14 to 15 inches. One fish measured 19 inches and weighted over one pound. More than 2 miles of the Big Hole River are located within the borders of the ranch.
The town of Jackson (approximately 4 miles from the property with a population of less than 100) has a hot springs lodge with restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant four nights and were generally pleased with most of the dishes.
We will definitely be back next summer.
