Steve and Lillian:
Sorry it has taken me so long to contact you to tell you what a wonderful stay I had at your exceptional cabin in Aska. I was totally taken aback by the peacefulness and beauty of the surroundings and the cabin (inside and out.) I loved the decor and took many pictures to share with my friends; I can't stop talking about it! Every amenity you could ask for was provided. It exceeded my expectations and I will try to come back. I'm spreading the word about your excellent cabin: it's location, comfortable, cozy inside and joy to sit back and relax in many ways.
There is just one thing I'd like to suggest. The land line phone should be accessible considering that it is the only way to communicate.
Hope your Holidays are great, you certainly added a lot of charm to mine. Thank you for the lovely stay!
We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful cabin over Easter weekend for my daughters spring break. Being from Florida we are accoustomed to beach getaways so we decided to experience something different in the mountains. We had an awesome time and the kids had a blast! The cabin is very spacious and well stocked with plenty of pots, pans, and cooking utensils. The beds are really comfortable and the decor is unique; it really makes you feel like you're in a real log cabin.
The location is perfect. Far enough away to feel secluded, but only a short, scenic 15 min. drive into town. Van Zandts, within walking distance, is a great little breakfast/lunch diner if you don't feel like cooking. The swinging bridge (highly recommended), and beautiful waterfalls are all within short driving distance.
The owner, Steve, is super friendly and very easy to work with. He was very accommodating and replied to all of my emails/questions in a timely manner. We will definitely be back in the near future!
Where to begin? We attempted to get away for a winter vacation at the last minute. The owner was so very accomodating from the start. Not an issue to get this reserved and booked, even on New Year's Day. Awesome. We greatly appreciated his willingness to allow our family some much needed time away,
As for the cabin, this had to have been the nicest we have stayed in yet. Location was far enough away from the sights and sounds of Blue Ridge to actually feel like you are in a cabin in the woods. This was very appealing to my family. Cabin was easy to get to. The drive there from Blue Ridge follows winding roads that climb and fall. Neighborhood was very quiet. It felt like we were the only ones on the mountain, with the exception of Jake, a resident dog that wondered onto the property.
The cabin is decorated and furnished very nicely. We enjoyed the fact that there were so many comfortable places to sit. We enjoyed the wrap around decks and utilized the grill. The cabin has a number of animal skins which add to the rustic decor. Our 9-month old daughter especially loved the texture! The canoe hanging above the door was an awesome touch! My two oldest daughters wondered how we were going to get it out of the front door. Needless to say, it did not go anywhere! Really cool touch though! The bed was seriously comfortable. We enjoyed several nights of peaceful rest.
In summary, the cabin was much nicer than we could have imagined. Very well appointed with everything you need to enjoy your stay. It felt like we were at home, which is the best compliment I think I can give. We felt at home and are already plotting and planning to go back. Thank you so much Steve and family for sharing your cabin with our family.
PS----Seek out the swinging bridge. It was well worth the trip!
We had a wonderful stay here. Owner is very helpful. Beautiful, cabin & surrounding area. Had an all girl stay moms/daughters, felt very safe there. Enjoyed tubing down the Toccoa River. Great 4th July week
in Blue Ridge, Ellijay area. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your peaceful cabin!
My parents rented this place, they brought my 2 teenaged brothers, teenaged sister, myself, my husband and our 1 year old. The cabin had baby gates,a high chair, and a pack-n-play. It was so relaxing, the sound of the creek yards away was bliss! We spent our first few days out and about exploring Vogel State park, we drove up to Cherokee NC, and went shopping in Murphy NC. The day before we left we decided to buy tubes and fishing poles from Wal-Mart and tube down the Toccoa which is less than a mile away (we walked it was so close!). We had a blast :) The beds are super comfy ( I recommend the basement room, it gets the coldest), we had fun playing pool, exploring the outdoor area, and relaxing in the hot tub early in the morning when it was in the 50s. We will definitely be staying here again, we enjoyed every bit of it and would highly recommend it to anybody!
My Family and I stayed at this beautiful cabin this past week and were able to ring in the new year here. This cabin has everything. The pictures shown here do not do the cabin justice. All you need to bring is food and that's it. This cabin has everything you will need for your weekend or week long stay, from all the kitchen utensils, to towels for the hot tub. They even have necessities for infants such as a high chair, playpen, and even child safety gates. The owners make a great effort to accommodate your every need, and that is no exaggeration. You aren't far from town but at the same time you feel secluded in the woods. We were lucky enough to see it with 8 inches of snow on the ground. Inside the cabin you can tell that everything was well thought out in the details of the decor', Down to rugs that match the blankets, cabinet and drawer pulls that match the light fixtures. We found ourselves discovering little things all week that we hadn't noticed before. We will definitely be returning to this cabin in the near future.
We had a "gals getaway" at Steve's cabin the weekend of 10/22/10 and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend, or better accommodations. The cabin was fully stocked with all that we needed, and then some! Steve was very easy to work with and I would definitely rent from him again. This cabin is definitely worth visiting. The pics don't quite depict just how wonderful this place is. It was perfect in every way! I have stayed in a couple other cabins, and while they were nice, Steve's is more comfy/cozy/quaint/homey, if that is the feeling that you are looking for. It certainly fit the bill when searching for a "log cabin". Cleanliness was top-notch and it even had that woodsy smell. Ahhhhhhh! I usually wake up at least once per night, but not here! I slept like a baby! I can assure you, nobody will be disappointed if you choose to give Steve a call. Mother Nature was as cooperative as you could ask this weekend and the beauty of God's handiwork shone through in the brilliant reds, golds, and yellows of the trees, with the backdrop of those gorgeous mountains of North Georgia - SIMPLY BREATHTAKING!! What a great weekend for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation, in a beautifully built home, and the furnishings were remarkable. Everything you would ever expect, you will find here. I would call this "Heaven on Earth" if this place belonged to me - Steve, you are very lucky to have such an awesome mountain home to enjoy. I hope to come back again some day.
