1000 sq ft. self-contained 2 bed, 1 bath suite close to Kailua beach, AC, quiet

Completely renovated in Nov/Dec 2017. New flooring, bathroom, kitchenette, windows, paint, and furniture. Light, bright, and modern!

Cool and breezy, this is a second-story suite in a quiet area with private entrance and off-street parking on the beautiful Windward side of Oahu. Only a two-minute walk (300 yards) to the white sand of world famous Kailua Beach. Gated and secure, with parking provided on property.

Over 1000 square feet of living space includes a large master bedroom/sitting room, huge walk-in closet, full bathroom, 2nd sleeping/living room with well equipped kitchenette with dining area. Free wi-fi connection. Quiet split AC keeps the suite cool, or if you prefer fresh air, , large ceiling fans, plenty of windows and sliding doors circulate the ocean breezes.

Sleeps 5 comfortably, with 2 Queen beds and a twin bed. If you are traveling as a family, the adults can have the bedroom/sitting room, while the children sleep/play/relax in the other room.

With high cathedral ceilings and very spacious, airy rooms, our guests often comment that the suite is much larger than the pictures can portray, and has a very comfortable, homey feel. You can easily cook light meals in the kitchenette, as there is a glass top hot plate, a toaster oven, electric skillet, microwave, coffee maker and kettle. There is also a gas BBQ grill outside with a table and chairs for 4 for an outside eating option.

We provide beach chairs, boogie boards, a beach umbrella, cooler, and beach towels. The beach is a short 2-4 minute walk from the suite, being only 300 yards away, so it's easy to walk back and forth several times a day if you want..There's an outside shower for rinsing sand off before you come inside. If you like to rise early, it's really special to catch the sunrise and take an early walk along the beach, which is 2.5 miles of white sand with no rocks. Many of our guests have commented that even after checking out many of the beaches on the island, they prefer Kailua Beach best out of them all. Kailua Beach was actually voted the #1 beach in the US in 2014. It's also a family-friendly beach, as the waves don't ever get very big (unless there's a storm or front coming through). Lanikai Beach, another popular family friendly beach, is only 5 minutes or less by car.

Kailua town is only a couple of minutes from the suite by car, and it has grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, and some good shops and boutiques, as well as Target and Whole Foods. It's a nice town to stroll around and there's good shopping there.

Kailua is actually a central location, as Honolulu and the city attractions are about 30 minutes to the South of the suite, and the North shore and Windward coast attractions are about 40-50 minutes to the North. Waimanalo Beach, Hanauma Bay, Sea Life Park, and Mokapu Beach and Lighthouse hike are between 20-35 minutes along the coast to the South also, so Kailua is a very central place to stay as a base.

I am sorry, this suite is not suitable for infants and children under 5, so I am unable to accept reservations with children 5 and under.

                                                        We stayed March 10-18, 2018. The suite is exactly as described. Very clean, open, airy. It is indeed the upper unit in a multi-unit complex, but still very quiet. It is accessible down a walkway along the side of the house and up a staircase off the back patio. The location is excellent, just a short walk (less than 5 min.) to the beach and 20 minutes at a good clip to downtown. Kailua has everything you need for an extended stay. Mandy and Richard were very accommodating and any questions or issues were quickly and satisfactorily answered. We made extensive use of the boogie boards, beach chairs (they have backpack straps and pockets so are easy to carry to beach) and umbrellas. The kitchen is not equipped with a stove, but it really was not a problem, as the hot plate works great and there is also a toaster oven. Mandy and Richard replaced the BBQ while we were there so that we could have a nice steak dinner one night. We ate breakfast at the suite everyday, and made dinner there twice, which is ideal if travelling as a family. Our linens were replaced halfway through the week. The room with the shelving was a god-send for keeping the family organized and contain the inevitable mess of two teenage boys. We also used it to hang any smaller items that needed drying. It was a bit humid / rainy there the week we visited, so the giant beach towels did not dry well outside overnight. If you are travelling light, or with small children and need laundry services, there is a laundermat in Kailua that is super clean and open 24hrs. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay, it was a great ‘base of operations’ as we were gone most days, all day. Thank you Mandy and Richard.

                                                        We loved our stay at Mandy's place in Kailua. Set back from a quiet side street in a lovely part of Kailua, a short walk from the most gorgeous stretch of Kailua beach, the unit has just been fully renovated and had the wow factor when we walked through the door. Large, spacious and spotlessly clean, it was very comfortable for our family of 5. The bathroom is gorgeous. We self-catered most nights and found the kitchenette was very manageable. Being upstairs, the views to Mt Olomana and beyond are lovely and it is quiet enough that we slept with windows open to enjoy the cooling cross-breeze. We would highly recommend Mandy's place, 6 days went far too quickly .... must come again soon !!!

                                                        This is a complex of several units. As long as you know that going in, it isn't an issue. The owners are awesome and the dogs are fantastic. The decor is beachy and the units are updated and clean. It was a quick 5 minute walk to the beach and they have chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc if you care to use them. Kailua is such a great town with some of the best eateries ever. Loved our stay!!

                                                        This apartment was quite spacious and served our needs perfectly. It was recently remodeled and was super clean and fresh. The neighborhood felt safe and the beach was a short walk away. We only saw Mandy and Richard a few short times, but they were welcoming and helpful. Great place to stay!

                                                        Mandy & Richard are so great and accommodating! The place was newly remodeled and very bright and fresh. Lots of natural light, everything we needed! We loved staying on the opposite side of the hustle and traffic of Honolulu, beach was so close and beautiful!                                                         The property was just right for our needs, had everything advertised in the profile. Walk to the awesome Kailua beach was short and not difficult. Wifi access was great! It was all we hoped for. Property owner Mandy was very nice and accomdated our needs.                                                         This suite is very centrally located--it is 20-25 minutes from Honolulu and 45 minutes from the North Shore. It is just a few minutes drive from Kailua town, and Kailua Beach is only 300 yards away. You can drive along the coast to the South and within 25 minutes get to Seal Life Park, Mokapu Beach, Hanauma Bay for snorkelling. Many of my guests have commented that they found the location perfect as it is so central to everything.
