Decent cottage away from everything

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was pretty good. We had a 3,5, and 11 year old, who all had a good time. The cottage itself was not fancy, but worked very well for our needs. The yard was a huge plus. The kids played in the large yard quite a bit.

The water was ok. The swimming was fairly limited near shore due to weeds and muck, however there was a swim raft which worked well for swimming. The fishing was good for the kids. We didn't catch anything big, which was fine for the little ones. They caught lots of little fish and enjoyed throwing them back.

Rose took great care of us, she even met us with some items we had left at the cabin.

We rented the pontoon on Bass Lake also, which was a great day. That lake was much larger and had good swimming. We also did a little fishing as well.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, so glad you enjoyed your stay! We do our best to keep the beach area as clean as possible, but when you're in the woods it's a constant challenge. The huge yard and secluded area the Farmhouse sits in is what most renters love about it! Kind of having a lake all to yourself, isn't it! I enjoyed meeting you and hope you'll return again soon!

Seclusion with a view of the lake

  • 5 of 5

The property was completely surrounded by woods, which was very nice...the privacy was great. The lake was very quiet, had a lot of "little" fish, which was perfect for the kids. The swimming was ok for a couple feet, but then was weedy. The rooms were adequately spaced. We did enjoy the deck, eating meals outside with views of the lake. This place was for sale, and I almost convinced my parents to consider it.

PROS: Seclusion, quiet lake, great kid fishing, outside atmosphere, adequate amenities

CONS: Stairs to the lake are rough for young / old, no wifi, no AC

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay at the Farmhouse! The seclusion & abundance of pure nature is what makes it a perfect getawway for familys. WIFI is available at several local restaurants, and you probably noticed airconditioning is seldom needed, being surrounded by trees and on a hilltop! Hope you'll visit again, there are big fish in the lake too!

Wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

The house is so amazing, perfect for families. Fully stocked with linens, fully equipped kitchen, great sized bedrooms. The yard is super amazing! We had many small children that were able to run free and explore on their own. The lake has so many fish and so much fishing was done from the dock. So much wildlife everywhere. The grocery store was not far away and was reasonably priced. Went on many back wood drives and made so many wonderful memories this past week.

The only thing we would have liked to have was a more stable way to access the lake. The stairs down to the lake are not very safe for our small children to get to. Maybe something with a hand rail.

But I would highly recommend this home, had one of the best vacations ever!

Property could use some improvements

  • 3 of 5

There was lots of room for the children to play. I did not know that there was no cell phone service. There is no landline to use for local calls or emergencies.. The path down to the lake was very steep and primitive. In my opinion the path is not safe for young children or older adults. A handrail would be a nice improvement. The swimming area was not as nice as pictured online. There were lots of Lilly pads and weeds. We had to rake the lake before the children could swim. The property is secluded which is a plus. Enjoyed the campfires. I would not stay again unless some improvements were made.

Owner's Response: Appreciate your review, hope you enjoyed your stay and the children had fun on the swim raft. The beach area is small, but we do clean it regularly. It is a very woodsy site, which is what most of our tenants love about it. The steps down to the beach are pictured online so you know what to expect, they are a bit of a challenge but we strive to keep them clear. The deck part way down is there to help! Hope you'll consider visiting again!

Mo and Joy

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay here. Everything was like every other reviewer exclaimed,. The house was very clean, we had a vase of flowers and a bottle of wine left on the kitchen table. The spacious secluded lot was perfect for our ambitious springer spaniels. We saw deer nearly every day we were there, one morning right outside the bedroom window. The hike to and from the lake was a bit of a challenge but good exercise all the same. Our daughter's family joined us for a couple of days and our 3 year old grandson did not want to leave. We caught fish every day, I wish that I could have put my own boat in but the ones that came with the rent did just fine. Rose was quick to help with one small problem. I am already checking the calendar for a return trip.

Relaxing & Peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Sauble Point Farmhouse! Our family of 5 plus two dogs thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and peacefulness of the farm. The lake was incredibly quiet! We brought our own kayaks and explored all 4 of the Sauble Lakes. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and paddle boat catching blue gill, bass and perch. We also brought ATVs and rode to nearby ORV trails. Overall, it was a wonderfully relaxing vacation. We would definitely return for a third trip.
