BaySide Cottage and nature retreat is located overlooking beautiful St. Joseph Bay and St. Joe Bay State Buffer Preserve facing West for awesome, unforgettable sunsets. Go scalloping, take a kayak tour or rent or bring your own. Fish for trout, redfish, flounder; go crabbing for the tasty blue crabs.

Convenient to Presnell's marina where you can launch your boat, rent a boat, or hire a captain. Also convenient to St. Joe State Park with boat launch facilities, Salinas Park and several other Beaches locations.

About The Owner

As an avid scalloper and snorkeler I have been enjoying the bay for years. When not on the bay I am hiking/walking one of our local areas, bird watching, or enjoying the spring and fall wildflowers. I would be happy to recommend guides for various local outdoor activities from fishing to photography.

Please note that we occasionally travel away and have no access to e-mail. If we do not respond shortly we are either working on property or away and either way are without internet access. We will respond just as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Florida Main North West

Originally the house was purchased as my personal home and I enjoyed living there and watching the sunsets and wildlife for a few years. It has only recently been rented on a limited basis. I moved to the area after retiring from Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, FL. I have always been around the water and my family took me scalloping before there was mask, snorkel, fins; they took me crabbing before there were traps.

What makes this house unique

You will find the location of the property tranquil. Wildlife viewing is at its best. The most memorable event of my time there was watching a pair of eagles build a nest.

Scallops at the back door

  • 5 of 5

After several scallop trips to St. Joe Bay, we have not found a more comfortable rental than Charla's house. Bayside Cottage is more than just a cottage. It is more like a resort with the privacy of a country home. The bay is only steps away from the back door. Great for kayaking and canoeing! Lots to see and do. You won't go wrong with this rental.

PAWSOME Good Time!

  • 5 of 5

We want to thank Charla for the best time we've ever had. Mom knew we'd like the water since she calls us her "Water Babies". And this house was the perfect spot. We loved getting to run out to the bay every morning and evening for our swim. We did not like the beach however. Mom knew she made the right choice when she found a doggie bed and food and water bowls, just in case she left ours. Our human's enjoyed the house as well. Kitchen was well equipped with anything they thought they might could use or need. Mom loved the tile floors because she could keep them clean after we had come in from outside. And the washer and dryer were life savers(mom likes to keep things clean). If you forget beach towels, dont worry, Charla has extras stored in the bathroom just in case(just make sure you bring them all back from the beach). Downstairs has a storage room for you to store all your beach equipment, which was really nice with the boogie boards and skim boards we have. Mom said if we ended up forgetting them that it would be okay because then they'd be there for the next people to use. We think mom and dad fell in love with Port Saint Joe and CSB. They said it felt like home and they could see us spending lots of time here. They done alot of eating at the house except our last night. They met our mom's friend in Eastpoint for dinner and brought us home doggie dinner. She keeps talking about going back to see The Red Pirate and eating oysters. They must have been good for her want to have some shipped home! We are going to rate this as a 6 Paw Up. The nice lady would always answer any questions mom had about the area or what we needed to do at the house. We will make our stay longer next summer. Maybe we can swim to the Island again!!! Enjoy your stay and let your furbabies have a vacation too! 3 tails (nubbs) wagging!

Just some more information: The house was nicely set up for humans and pets. There was my husband and I, my mother, and our 2 nephews and our 3 Australian Shepherds on this trip. This was the perfect size and perfect location. We spent a lot of time at the state park in Cape San Blas, we also traveled to Saint George Island and enjoyed their state park beach. Plenty of stations on TV should you need it, also a DVR and plenty of books for reading. This was literally like vacationing at home. I will praise Charla and her home to anyone and everyone who visits. So much so that this will be our yearly vacation.

Recharge the Batteries at Bayside !!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for most of a week for our anniversary, and will again. We enjoyed a peaceful, laid back time with all you could possibly ask for to do as a couple, without the crowds and distractions. Awesome place to recharge the batteries and remind yourself why you married your soulmate.

Bayside Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I dont know where to begin.. when I began looking for places for my family to stay at Cape San Blas, after a couple of emails back and forth to the owner, I knew this was the place for us! She went above and beyond the normal owner responsibly! She told us when and where to scallop and how:) the owner also brought us special items to use while at the beach. The cottage was beautiful! Inside and out! Plenty of room and up to date kitchen, immaculately clean! Lots of room to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views of the bay. The full baths with washer 7 dryer, were great because of all trips back and forth to the beach and scalloping.

We walked out the door to the bay to scallop every morning and went during the afternoon, and when we learned how, it was sooo much fun! We went to all the local favorites, the state park at the end of the Cape, fished around all the hot spots. This house is close enough for a short drive to pick up food. We also ate pounds of shrimp from The Shrimp Company in Port St Joe so YUMMY! I highly recommend this house for everyone to stay at, hopefully not the dates I want because we will be back. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay! And for allowing us to come in early at short notice, and we would've stayed if we could've!
