About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 5

Edited to add: our cabin was spared from the fire this past week (12/2/16). Please continue to vacation in the smokies so that the locals can have jobs! You can find uson facebook, search for Bear Hiney Hideaway. Updates have been posted.

Come relax and enjoy our cabin, tucked away in the secluded area of Mountain Crest. Our 1200 sq. foot real log cabin has all of the luxury amenities of home, from the rustic wood beds to the fully appointed kitchen with stainless appliances and granite counter tops. Our cabin is on a beautiful wooded lot with a paved driveway and plenty of parking for several vehicles. The cabin has an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings in the living/kitchen area. A great place to kick back and relax in front of the gas fireplace.

Bear Hiney Hideaway is a 2-story, 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin with a covered porch and a back deck. The master bedroom, located on the bottom floor, is furnished with a rustic, king size bed and jacuzzi tub. A perfect room to light some candles, turn on the electric fireplace and relax. There is also a full bathroom with tub/shower unit located off of the bedroom, adjoining the kitchen.

The upstairs, loft bedroom is furnished with bunk beds that have a full size bed on the bottom and twin on top. This bedroom also has a full bath with a shower unit. We have many board games located upstairs for your family ''game night''.

At our cabin, you can stay snuggled in for your entire stay - just bring your clothes and food! We have everything you need! All linens/towels along with a starter supply of detergent/soap/dishwasher detergent/toilet paper/paper towels are provided. Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, Rocky Top Sports Complex, the arts and crafts community and outlets malls are only minutes away if you choose to get out and enjoy the area attractions. This location is great because you can bypass the ''strip'' and its traffic if you would like to.

About Gary or Laurie Hines

We are Gary and Laurie Hines and we have been married for 23 years. We have 3 children ages 26 (from previous marriage, lol), 18 and 10. We are not natives of Tennessee but visit the area often!

Gary or Laurie Hines purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Gary or Laurie Hines chose East

Our first trip to the Smokies was on a family trip with parents and we were hooked. We've spent most of our Christmas' there along with many, many other trips there and love the area! It is one of the most beautiful places on earth!

What makes this cabin unique

After looking at numerous homes, we chose this one because of the secluded neighborhood and the cabin was a newer cabin with an old time, cozy feel. We knew it was the one as soon as we walked in.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Laurie's Cabin was a wonderful place to stay..... I really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful area that the Cabin was in. I also was very happy to go to such a clean and "well stocked" Cabin. There was nothing in the Cabin that I wish I had remembered to bring. She had everything from blowdryers, hangers, silverware, dishes, pots, pans, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The Cabin was very organized (imagine that...) and well maintained. I was honored to stay in such a wonderful Cabin such as Lauries. I would recommend it to anyone!! OH!! By the way, there is a great little grocery at the end of the road that sells a Cheesecake to die for!!! Love and Hugs, Ash

Great cabin to unplug & disconnect

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was the perfect size for us & our 2 boys. Very comfortable beds & furnished well. Our only suggestion would be to add wifi. If your cell service is with AT&T you get no service in the cabin. No wifi, no cell service & no local channels on tv could pose a safety issue with receiving emergency alerts. Otherwise, it was a great cabin to unwind.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed our cabin! Unfortunately, no WiFi is available for us at this time or I would have it for sure. I will be upgrading the direct TV soon and that should resolve the local channels issue.

Very beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and clean. Felt like home. I would recommend buying a GPS device because there is no cell service in the mountains. Roads going to the cabin were wider and safer to me compared to other places. Only downside is there was no wifi in the cabin. But overall I would highly recommend staying at this cabin.

Great cabin, Great Owners

  • 5 of 5

We stayed during the Gatlinburg fire, and needless to say, there were numerous communications with the owners. They took care of us when we felt like we needed to check out early due to the fires. They were prompt in responding, and concerned for our safety. Thank you, Gary & Laurie.

Very nice property.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very clean on arrival. The booking and check in process went very smoothly. This review would get 5 stars if the Direct TV package had more channels. No sports channels at all and no local channels. Overall very nice though. We would definitely stay here again. Hope the fires didn't damage it as we left the day before they started.
