Everyone Loves 2nd Haven

Enjoy your best vacation ever in this beautiful , totally remodeled in 2017, three bedroom, 2 bath home. Our 2nd Haven is located in a quiet and safe Florida beach community on a double lot with a huge, privacy fenced backyard. You are just a short, easy walk or bike ride to the beach, the intra-coastal waterway public boat ramp and Windswept beach park.

Two of the three bedrooms have extremely comfortable high quality King and Queen Beds (could be two masters for two couples) and one bedroom has two twin beds. There is also a sleeper sofa in the Florida room if you need it. The bedrooms are located on opposite ends of the house for your ultimate privacy. This house can easily sleep up to 8 people. Our home is fully equipped and very well decorated. A large equipped kitchen allows you to easily prepare meals at home when you choose, although you are surrounded by many incredible restaurants and walking distance to The RedFrog Grill and Pub. Enjoy the 55“ flat screen LED HD satellite TV, wi-fi, and BluRay DVD player. There’s even a stocked desk if Mom or Dad need to do a “little” work while away or just write postcards.

Bring your boat or kayaks and launch from the public boat ramp into the intra-coastal waterway, just four blocks from you. Or….walk 7 minutes, bike 4 minutes or drive less than 1 minute across to the best and widest drive-on beach on the East coast. We are located just four blocks across the street from the Mantazazs drive-on ramp. One block away you’ll find Windswept Beach park with a beautiful new playground for the kiddies and an outdoor exercise gym. When you return back home, you, the kids and dog can enjoy sunning and playing in the huge, privacy fenced backyard until time to watch sunset over the inter-coastal waterway. (You can watch from the backyard or join the neighborhood with a comfortable walk to the boat ramp.) There is so much to do within a short distance of our home to make your vacation memorable and fun. And in the evenings you can share your memories of the day sitting outside on either the open or covered back porches listening to the ocean.

We are only 10 miles from Marineland and 7 miles from historic downtown St. Augustine, the oldest city in the United States. St. Augustine was founded in 1565 and attracts many admirers to it’s Spanish Colonial Architecture. More than 300,000 visitors a year savor the pleasures of this grand city. Visit Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Flagler College, the famous Castillio De San Marcos Fort, St. George Street and all of its shops and open air restaurants, the Alligator Farm, The Fountain of Youth, Potters Wax Museum, Ghost Tours, Horse Drawn Carriage Rides and San Sebastian Winery. We are only 5 miles from the St. Augustine Beach Pier (Farmers Market/Craft Show every Wednesday morning) and the St. Augustine Amphitheater (Saturday morning Farmers Market and lots of top notch world famous music). You will find almost 300 discount premium outlet shops in two convenient malls for a great shopping experience only 20 minutes away.

Golf is minutes away at the world famous World Golf Village and Hall of Fame among many other World--class golf courses. Orlando/Disney attractions are 1.5 hours south as is the Kennedy Space Center. Daytona Beach, famous on it’s own and the Daytona 500 race track is only 30 minutes away. Jacksonville, with all of its cultural events is less than an hour north.

We are out of state owners but very “hands on “ with our property visiting several times during the summer months and living here during the winter. Local friends help us maintain this lovely home and are available immediately should you need assistance. We love sharing our home and you will find that we provide lots of homey extras. We want you to relax and enjoy our home and your St. Augustine vacation experience. We want you to return year after year.

About Deborah Reeves

George & Deborah live in the mountains of NC. George is a retired general contractor, musician, wood artist and bee keeper. Deborah recently retired from owning salon/spas for over 30 years,, is a gardener, stained glass artist and assistant bee keep and aspiring cookbook author with a blog site called agardencook. We live a sustainable lifestyle in our 100+ year old farmhouse in the mountains of Cashiers, NC.

Deborah Reeves purchased this house in 2000

Why Deborah Reeves chose Florida North East

George and I love the beach. We were both raised on east coast beaches and although we love living in the mountains of NC, we missed the coast. So we began looking for a home in a beach town that was reminiscent of the beaches we grew up on. We wanted all the conveniences of a city, but to be in a small community that was not overbuilt. We love wide beaches. George still surfs, so he wanted a beach where he could surf. He is also an active musician and plays frequently in St. Augustine. I wanted the laid back atmosphere of a beach community and to be able to walk the beach everyday. St. Augustine was a perfect match for us. We have lots of music and culture, beautiful wide beaches in a quiet community that reminds us of the beaches we grew up on.

What makes this house unique

We love the fact that we can just walk or bike the short distance to the beach. The beach is one of the widest on the east coast and we are always awed by it. It's a casual beach which we find very relaxing. Pets are allowed on a leash and we enjoy watching people and their pets. The neighborhood is very quiet and friendly. We are so close to Dtwn St. Augustine , the oldest city in the U.S. It takes minutes to drive Dtwn and enjoy all the siteseeing, shops, architecture, music and great dining. We are always passing ghost tours and one of these days I'm going to take one.

This home was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This was our family's first trip to St Augustine and we were there for a wedding. We wanted to get away from the busy city center. This home is perfect. You pull out of the neighborhood and cross A1A and drive onto the beach. It's also an easy walk. The home is equipped better than any place we've stayed. The yard is great and the landscaping is beautiful. All the modern TV conveniences and WIFI for the Techo junkies. We planned to take one of our dogs but ended up leaving her with my son and I'm so sorry we did. The beach is pet friendly and she would've loved it. We definitely will stay here again!

Owner's Response: Happy to hear that you enjoyed our home. Yes, we provide a very well equipped kitchen. When guests rent a private home on vacation they want to be able to cook meals. So, we have done our best to provide everything you need. Glad you got to the beach. It is definately one of the best on the east coast and so easy to walk to or drive on. Please do come back and bring your dog next time.

Loved 2nd Haven!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5, plus our furbaby, loved 2nd Haven. With its cute decor and cozy home feel, you won't be disappointed. The yard was perfect for our fur baby, and we loved the privacy fencing, and sitting areas outside. Inside we had plenty of seating, quality sheets and towels, wonderful water pressure and plenty of hot water. The kitchen had evertthing we needed and then some. This is a plus, since we usually cook most meals at the house. We ran out of gas on the grill one night, but the owner was prompt in meeting this need. The beds were very comfortable, and we loved having ceiling fans in each room. We drove the 3 minutes to the beach most everyday, because we could drive and park on the beach. It was easier than walking the 8 minutes from the house with all our stuff. The beach was clean and nice, and there was a lifeguard on duty from 10-6 each day. If you drive on the beach it will cost you $8 a day. We ate at Sunset Grille for dinner and enjoyed the crab legs and fresh fish. Their calm chowder with fries was amazing. We also ate at the Red Frog and McToads and ordered their famous haddock. We opted to shop in Saint Augustine at Aldi due to the excessive high prices at the grocery stores at the beach. We enjoyed the Wednesday market down at the pier. We purchased some trinkets, and fresh fruits and veggies, and sampled some yummy delights. Lastly, if you are going to get souvenirs, don't got to Alvins. Scoot on down to Island Beachwear. The prices were better and there was a great variety. We will certainly stay here again, if we come to this area.

Owner's Response: We love this review. It sounds like you noticed and appreciated all the extras that we add and include to make our home the best....ceiling fans, privacy fencing, seating outside, plenty of comfortable seating inside, comfortable beds, and great linens and towels. Yeah!! We couldn't be happier that your fur baby was there with you. I do hope that you return to St. Augustine. There is so much to do and see in addition to the greatest beaches. We will be happy to have you return to our 2nd Haven.

Owner's Response: We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our 2nd Haven. Also glad that you appreciated how close it is to everything. The inter coastal a few blocks behind the house with the public boat ramp right there, the beach just a few blocks away in front of the house, Marineland just 10 miles south, Old Towne St. Auggie just 7 miles, grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants within blocks. We never tire of the location. Hope to see you back again. Deborah

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

My thoughts are that the pictures shown are wonderful. But they don't do the house justice. As each of my family walked in, everyone said wow - this is great! We had 7 people and 2 dogs on our trip and the space was perfect for us. I get the feeling that the owners care about the guest experience and I appreciated the book for guests, . The home is beautiful and welcoming and we all hope to stay again.

**Thank you for sharing your lovely home! It is a real treasure and provided a much needed break.

Owner's Response: We couldn't be happier with your recognition that we "really" care about our guests experience and it is what keeps our guests returning year after year. And it makes us smile. We try to share as much helpful information as we can in our guest book without overwhelming you. There is so much to see and do in St. Augustine and the beach is the very best. We are so happy that you thoroughly enjoyed our home and the location and your much needed break. We are glad that we could be a part of that. Look forward to your return.

Great Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Short walk to a nice beach. Grocery market, dining and watering holes all within a bicycle ride from the front door. (Bike rentals in walking distance and storage provided in back yard)

The home is very comfortable and I enjoyed using the kitchen and outdoor grill to entertain my friends and family. The outdoor patios are nice in the evenings or early morning coffee time. The short drive into historic St. Augustine affords you a wealth of diversions as well.

Owner's Response: It sounds like you enjoyed all the great features of this house and it's location. My favorite thing to do also is have coffee outside in the morning. Listening to the parrots and the ocean while walking up is the best. Glad you had a special birthday celebration in our 2nd Haven.

Little Pink House - St. Augustine Beach

  • 5 of 5

Just as adorable inside as pictures indicate! Plenty of space, split floor plan, comfortable beds and sofas, and a well-stocked kitchen. They even have loaf pans (made a meatloaf one night), mixing bowls, a mixer, and cookie sheets. My favorite part was the generous back yard with picnic table, which the grandchildren and grand-dogs really enjoyed! Go for it! :)
