Why Owner chose Historic Eastside
There is something special about Santa Fe. Is it the light quality and the way the architecture blends with the earth? Or the creativity and cultural richness that seems to pulse in the very air? We resonant with the art, architecture and natural beauty of Santa Fe and this leaves us feeling renewed and refreshed – even if we only spend our time at our beautiful compound enjoying the privacy and connection to nature that our unique home provides. Whether we want to dream away the day at home, walk downtown to the Plaza or grab a bite to eat and attend the gallery openings on Canyon Road we have it all within easy reach. Let us share this experience with you.
What makes this Estate unique
Santa Fe is brimming with creativity, culture and beauty. The merging of cultures inspires a rich assortment of events throughout the year. Numerous art fairs and markets, sacred dances at the Pueblos, Feast Days at the many churches, lectures and performances at the Lensic Theater, and St. John’s College’s community seminars, lectures and performances are just a few examples of the many interesting, enriching opportunities offered in Santa Fe year-round. Do you love the outdoors? Natural wonders abound in Santa Fe - in minutes from our home you can hike, ski and enjoy the high desert and endless skies. I can’t think of another town that offers so many varied possibilities. And best of all - the historic Shuster Compound situates you in the heart of all that Santa Fe has to offer - the Plaza, Canyon Road, Museum Hill, galleries, cultural events, world class restaurants and nature are within walking distance from the compound.

Amazing home tucked away in Santa Fe
Will Shuster's studio is an incredible place; a real slice of Santa Fe. It's fairly small, with a master bedroom, a very small second bedroom and a library loft with another small bed. It was perfect for a family of four. The decorations are amazing, and the history is amazing. Laurie couldn't have been any nicer.
Andrea, Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure having you and your family here. I do hope I have the pleasure of seeing you again.
Happy New Year!
Well cared for with the soul of the artist in place
The hosts are lovely
The studio is beautiful and the perfect place to relax.
Thank you so much for your review! It was a pleasure having you and your son here for the month! You get a gold star for the most active and engaged visitors we have ever had. You clearly know all the special places in Santa Fe!
Lovely getting to know you! We hope to see you again next summer.
Perfect for our family
We are a family of two parents and two adult children. The Studio was excellent for our 6 night stay in Santa Fe. Our daughter used the extra bedroom and our son slept in the loft. Great closet storage. Plenty of space to be separate, as well as areas where we could be together. The photos are accurate. Everything was clean and in perfect working order. Off street parking and a lovely yard to enjoy in the sunshine. We actually looked forward to coming "home" in the evenings and relaxing. We even made a fire in the indoor fireplace one night. Easy drive into town, to grocery stores, to Museum Hill and out for day trips. We did not walk into town, but I am sure you could.
One important reason we chose this Studio is the policy of no smoking and no pets. Two family members have allergies and asthma. They were fine in this little house.
Laurie was very responsive via email. She stopped by upon our arrival and we had a fascinating chat about Santa Fe, the Studio, local attractions and restaurants, and academic topics we had in common.
We were sad to leave this warm, cozy, attractive home away from home.
Dear Fern and family,
So happy you had a wonderful visit and loved Shuster's Studio. It is indeed a treasure of Santa Fe. I really enjoyed meeting all of you. You all were out and about making the most of your time in Santa Fe! The weather was perfect for your visit - skiing up the mountain with sunshine and warm weather for your hiking and outdoor activities. I think you win the award for fitting in the most adventures into your six days of any of my guests!
If ever you visit Santa Fe again I hope you stay with us again! Thank you for taking such good care of our beautiful adobe home.
All my very best to each of you.
Perfect week in Santa Fe!
We were surprised and delighted! The Shuster Studio exceeded our expectations! We spent a perfect week in the studio. The house is in excellent condition, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped with new appliances. The bathrooms are updated and quite nice. There were stacks of fresh towels and beautiful bed linens. It was immediately apparent that the owners love this house and take very good care of it. We especially enjoyed having our breakfast out on the patio every morning. In the evening, we had our nightcaps outside and gazed at the stars. The location in the historic eastside is splendid. The studio is tucked away behind the main house, with plenty of privacy. There was plenty of parking by the studio, off street. The house is a short 5-10 minute walk to the upper end of Canyon Road. So, if you're having dinner at, say, Geronimo or El Farol, you can easily stroll home. The owner left a small flashlight, which we found useful on nighttime walks as the roads are very dark. Laurie, the owner is an excellent communicator, very considerate, and she made the transaction effortless. Her lovely sister, Leslie, stopped by at the house and checked in on us to make sure that we were happy. We felt very fortunate to have spent a perfect week at the studio. We would return in a heartbeat.
Perfection in every detail...
I am a 54 year old woman traveling solo and I arrived in late August for a 4 day get-away from my busy life in Boulder, Colorado. My first impression was the awesome attention to detail, everywhere I looked - starting with the garden which is a perfect combination of wild and manicured. In spite of being surrounded by other homes, as I sat on the patio, I had the feeling I was tucked away at the edge of nowhere. Once inside the studio, I was equally impressed: it has been beautifully furnished and enhanced by artwork and relics from the Southwest. Frankly, it was so charming and elegant I wondered how I could ever leave to see the sites!
For the short time I had, I found walking to be the best way to get around Santa Fe and the Studio is very conveniently located. I was able to walk the full length of Canyon Road several times as it was on my way to some of the local tourist sites and to the downtown Plaza.
I would highly recommend treating yourself to a a stay at this historic treasure when you visit Santa Fe. Thank you also, to the charming owner, Laurie, who helped make my stay PERFECT!
Laurie, Thank you for choosing Shuster's Studio for your visit to Santa Fe. We will look forward to your next visit and continuing our discussion about the history of the artist Will Shuster and his group, Los Cinco Pintores!
Look no further- this is where you want to stay
The Will Shuster studio is simply amazing! It's a lovely home filled with character and warmth. This home includes comfortable bedding, a loft with a window to view the stars and a covered patio where you might choose to spend the entire vacation- so private with the sound of water flowing nearby. If you do decide to leave, Canyon Road is just a short walk away. You can easily walk to the plaza from here as well. Few places offer such comfort, tranquility and great location. You will enjoy working with the owner and her manager. They are the best. This is where you want to stay!
Barb, It was great having you and your family here. I am so glad you had a wonderful time and enjoyed your stay at Shuster's Studio. It was a pleasure having you here.
