Neglected property and amenities listed are significantly misrepresented.
When you book a property and pay Premium, the least you expect is what was advertised.
In the case of the Loma Bonita property, all major amenities were misrepresented and the property managers will not do anything and will just ignore you.
1- The property is an hour away from Ixtapa and not few minutes. There is a dirt row to get to the property where you will need a four wheel drive to get through.
2- there is NO internet, nor telephone (Basic needs, especially at a remote location as this). Also there was NO washer and dryer, ping pong table, family board games, etc.
3- from 300 ft away the property aesthetics look pretty much like the pictures, up close you realize it has been neglected for several years (rotten wood, rust all over the appliances, doors and windows, nothing opens or closes properly, and you do not feel safe stepping on the balcony from the master bedroom).
4- upon arrival the property was just “dusted off” (not properly clean). Lots of spiders and on the second night we killed three scorpions. (Living room during a family conversation, second bedroom before the kids were going to bed, and lastly in the master bedroom just as we woke up). A nightmare, especially since the kids were afraid and wanted to go to a hotel. Unfortunately it was the New Years week and everything was completely booked.
5- the second villa was a complete chaos.
Upon arrival the swimming pool was dirty and water was green and bubbly. Then the air conditioner of the main bedroom was not working. Initially I was told they were going to fix it immediately, so we have to make arrangements to figure out how we were going to sleep that night (it was a party of 9 and the second villa (third best bedroom in the property was not functional). Next morning I was told by the property manager that they were not going to fix the A/C and that it would take several days to clean the pool, so I could not use the second villa.
Horrible Experience!!! They ruined my family vacations and I was stucked with them.
Anyway, I wish I could upload pictures in this review so all future potential guests could visualize the actual state of the property! Please do not trust what is advertised.
The only positive from this experience was the wonderful local staff. The cook (Emma), amazing food! Although breakfast was served at 10:00am due to the location being so remote.
Please consider carefully this review, so you avoid having a similar experience during your vacations.
Our week at Playa Loma Bonita was wonderful! We spent the days lounging by the pool, strolling on the beach, doing yoga, eating, reading, playing, fishing, surfing, napping, and hanging out with friends and family! What a beautiful vacation retreat that comfortably slept our 18 people. We had Karina cook dinners for us and we have the home stocked with food upon our arrival which was such a treat!! We walked down the beach to enjoy the lil restaurants on the beach and swim with the locals. We went to Petatlan town to see the shopping and church and the tortillaria! ! We felt like at home with our own watch dog "Monster" who was so sweet! The locals are so friendly and the fishermen loved to show off their daily catch! We brought some school supplies and met a few of the students also. The villas were perfect for spending time together and we even had 18 around the giant dining table in the awesome open-air kitchen! Days by the pool under the umbrella and evenings on the grass under the stars! wow! Everyone had a fantastic time and we will return again next year :)
Gorgeous gem in rustic Mexico
This was our family's first vacation to Mexico, and it was muy bueno!
Liz and Ron's property sits oceanfront on a remote beach with stunning views. The main villa is incredibly spacious, with a gorgeous pool overlooking the beach below. This is everything you would get at a 5-star hotel!
What truly makes Loma so special are the staff: We loved everyone who helped make our stay so special. We found the perfect babysitters for our young son, our surf guide was incredibly knowledgable, the chefs cooked our food with love, the cleaning woman did a great job, and the foreman and driver were very patient and kind. Everything we could have asked for, we got.
We were there for my 40th birthday, and Liz even made sure we got a special dinner and cake for me that day!
We are so happy to have found this gem in Mexico. Muchos gracias, amigos!
Unplugged in Paradise
Staying at Playa Loma Bonita is an opportunity to unplug from craziness of life and reconnect with a the beauty of nature, friends, and family. I have stayed in all of the accommodations at Playa Loma several times with my husband, friends, and two young children. I have even hosted a yoga retreat here.
Every time I go I want to stay and once I leave I can't wait to come back .
Miles of stunning beach and only occasional sightings of other people.
Fabulous pools overlooking the ocean.
Gorgeous accommodations mixed with rugged grounds (dirt roads and rolling mountains)
The ability to have massage, horses, food, fishing guides, surf lessons, and babysitting all brought right to you at such a fair price you feel (moderately) guilty.
Playa Loma is a place where you can define exactly what kind of experience you want to have while surrounded by sun, ocean, solitude, and an amazing staff that will support you in your vision....
*Packing more than a bathing suit/cover and sun protections for kids always seems like overpacking...
I am not sure there are words to describe our week at Playa Loma Bonita but I will try. My husband and I, together with four other couples, all long- time friends and frequent travel companions, arrived at Loma Bonita for our last week of our travels in Mexico. We reached paradise. As we settled in the beauty and peace of the place worked its magic. It was the simple pleasures of life that filled our days. Long walks on the beach, meeting only the occasional fisherman. Having the joy of watching baby sea turtles hatch and make their way to the ocean. Watching the whales breaching in the ocean. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The sound of the ocean to put you to sleep at night and wake you in the morning.
We rented the two villas and two bungalows so had plenty of places to spend individual time or time together as a big group. We arranged some of our meals with Karina and Thomasa from the restaurant down the beach and what meals they were! The tres leches birthday cakes were an outstanding end to two great birthday meals. We gathered around the large table in the small villa nightly. We all had the best massages ever next to the trickling fountain in the back patio of the large villa. Yoga under the beautiful palapa down by the ocean took a new meaning of mind, body, spirit. Think, Shavasana with the sound of the ocean waves and the feel of ocean breeze.
At all times we were in the very special care of Jesus, Rita and team. Whether we needed to book massages, or arrange a trip to Patatlan for groceries, or get the yoga instructor, Jesus was there for us. The place was kept beautifully and we were left to enjoy and relax. And of course, what can I say about Liz. During our planning stage she answered every question asked of her, and continued to help make sure our stay was the experience of a lifetime while we were on site – in other words she helped create magic.
We had arrived with great plans to go to the archeological ruins, into Patatlan, and to spend a day in Zihua. In the end we spent a morning in Patatlan to get some supplies as well as visit the church,(which was well worth it), and gold market. We did a few hours in Zihua on our way to the airport as we were leaving and though enjoyable, we were glad we didn’t take time away from our "Shangri-la" during our stay. If you want a place to gather as family and friends and reconnect at a deeper level, rest and recharge this is the place.
We had a wonderful stay in this house!! The house and palapas have excellent taste, the beach is completelly private and the ocean is clear and warm. Karina, the cook, is excellent! Ideal place to get away from it all, rest, read in hamocks, play ping pong, sunbathe, eat delicous seafood, watch beautiful sunsets...
Our dogs could run free and happy.
