About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5-7)

SPECIAL Oct 1 through May 19! $175 per night ($900 per week)

Walk on the beach, sit by the fire, listen to music. Affordable beachfront Pan Abode cedar home on Admiralty Inlet/Mutiny Bay on Whidbey Island overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic peninsula near Freeland, Washington. As the crow flies, it's roughly 30 miles from Seattle, and it's just 40 steps from the beach. It has two large bedrooms and one bath plus a sofa bed in the Living room, sleeps 5 to 7. There is a retro fifties-style kitchen and bath, large fireplace with stove, and large deck looking out over a beautiful view of the Olympic mountains. You can see sunsets, wildlife, ocean liners coming and going, and active shipping over the main shipping lanes (and even an aircraft carrier). Basic cable and wi-fi, good sound system, CDs and DVDs with player.

Staying in this cottage supports a sustainable organic farm that has been operating for 24 years, allowing the farmer to pay his employees a living wage. We live a simple life and we have provided a place where you can do that, too.

The view and the beach are outstanding and the view changes hourly, from misty, dark blue water to sea blue with a view of the mountains. Sandy, no-bank beachfront. Located on a dead-end road with plenty of off-street parking. The full-size deck has the view, a charcoal grill, and furniture for eating, sitting and talking, or relaxing and enjoying the view.

About The Owner

This home was our family getaway place for many years. Lots of fishing trips started here, and many memorable relaxing vacations.

The Owner purchased this house in 1956

Why The Owner chose Whidbey Island

Great fishing and a beautiful view.

What makes this house unique

While staying here, we really enjoy exploring the beach, boating and fishing, and exploring in quaint Langley and the other areas nearby. We love the beautiful sunsets too. Sequim weather touches Whidbey here, so the weather is especially nice.

Termites, dry rot and dog feces. Oh my

  • 2 of 5

I've rented this home for three years for an entire month. I love the location and the neighborhood. However, the lack of maintenance over the past three years has made it impossible for me to return. The termites and non working toilets were called out last year and not addressed. My month long stay was nearly cancelled 24 hours prior to my arrival due to the fact that the leaky toilet could not be replaced because of all the dry rot in the floor. I had ants all over the kitchen when I arrived. Lastly, there was dog feces in the straw rug, which I discovered when I realized it was upside down (and I flipped it over). I have addressed my concerns with Kelly and Tommi, so this review should not be a surprise. Very sad display of maintenance

Very adorable place.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here and the view was wonderful. It is right on the beach. A few things could be upgraded, like the electrical, but that would probably be very expensive. We had some difficulty with finding enough outlets, in particular, to plug in our CPAP machines. Also, the description said it was handicap-accessible, which it is really not. Luckily, none of us were in wheelchairs. One of us used crutches and another walks with a cane, but we managed the access ok. You can drive right up to the backdoor, which was great. Also, we were surprised to find a bunk bed had replaced one of the regular beds shown in the picture - hopefully the picture has been updated. The description had said suitable for 4-7 people, but with a bunk bed, some of those people had better be children! Probably 3-4 adults, 2 children. However, the living room is good size and we put a bed right in front of the big window - which became the best bed in the house! And, we made a fire in the fireplace everynight. So, if you bring extra air mattresses or cots you could find room either in the living room for another bed or on the deck in warm weather. The chairs on the deck were great. This getaway is very appealing, the kitchen is well-stocked with cooking gear, etc., and we would definitely go here again.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

This beachfront home is in a great location on a quite private beach, steps from the water with lots of shipping lane activity. It has a spacious deck, great sunsets and views of the Olympic Mountains. There is plenty of room inside and it is well stocked and has wood for the fireplace.

The owners were very helpful with our reservation. The home is very affordable and we would recommend it any time.

Everything we wanted

  • 4 of 5

I bought my wife, two sons, mother-in-law and her dog to this fantastic Mutiny Bay cabin on Whidbey Island. We loved being able to walk the beach just a few steps off the back deck. The cabin, which does not have all the bells and whistles of a newer unit, had everything we needed. It felt well-loved and appreciated. This was our first time on the island, but I'm sure we will return again. We would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone!

SO WONDERFUL!!

  • 5 of 5

Oh my gosh, first of all the owners are so nice! The cabin is so very special and relaxing. Very clean - beautiful wood. The beach is endless. I parked my car and there was no reason to get back in until until check out. Breakfast lunch and dinner on the beach. Long walks. Staring at the water. Rest. Repeat!! The only problem was re-entry into the real world! :). Thank you so much John and Kelly!!

Quiet and Incredible Location!

  • 5 of 5

Pretty hard to find a better bargain for cabin and quiet private beach in Puget Sound area. Had wine and bbqed on back deck while listened to the waves crash in. Views of Olympics are major bonus too, thanks guys for a great weekend!
