About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5-7)

SPECIAL Oct 1 through May 19! $175 per night ($900 per week)

Walk on the beach, sit by the fire, listen to music. Affordable beachfront Pan Abode cedar home on Admiralty Inlet/Mutiny Bay on Whidbey Island overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic peninsula near Freeland, Washington. As the crow flies, it's roughly 30 miles from Seattle, and it's just 40 steps from the beach. It has two large bedrooms and one bath plus a sofa bed in the Living room, sleeps 5 to 7. There is a retro fifties-style kitchen and bath, large fireplace with stove, and large deck looking out over a beautiful view of the Olympic mountains. You can see sunsets, wildlife, ocean liners coming and going, and active shipping over the main shipping lanes (and even an aircraft carrier). Basic cable and wi-fi, good sound system, CDs and DVDs with player.

Staying in this cottage supports a sustainable organic farm that has been operating for 24 years, allowing the farmer to pay his employees a living wage. We live a simple life and we have provided a place where you can do that, too.

The view and the beach are outstanding and the view changes hourly, from misty, dark blue water to sea blue with a view of the mountains. Sandy, no-bank beachfront. Located on a dead-end road with plenty of off-street parking. The full-size deck has the view, a charcoal grill, and furniture for eating, sitting and talking, or relaxing and enjoying the view.

About The Owner

This home was our family getaway place for many years. Lots of fishing trips started here, and many memorable relaxing vacations.

The Owner purchased this house in 1956

Why The Owner chose Whidbey Island

Great fishing and a beautiful view.

What makes this house unique

While staying here, we really enjoy exploring the beach, boating and fishing, and exploring in quaint Langley and the other areas nearby. We love the beautiful sunsets too. Sequim weather touches Whidbey here, so the weather is especially nice.

Oh my gosh, first of all the owners are so nice! The cabin is so very special and relaxing. Very clean - beautiful wood. The beach is endless. I parked my car and there was no reason to get back in until until check out. Breakfast lunch and dinner on the beach. Long walks. Staring at the water. Rest. Repeat!! The only problem was re-entry into the real world! :). Thank you so much John and Kelly!!

Quiet and Incredible Location!

  • 5 of 5

Pretty hard to find a better bargain for cabin and quiet private beach in Puget Sound area. Had wine and bbqed on back deck while listened to the waves crash in. Views of Olympics are major bonus too, thanks guys for a great weekend!

Seahorse Cabin

  • 4 of 5

This was our first stay at this cabin and we enjoyed the amenities greatly. So much fun to be right on the beach! Our grandson had a ball on the beach and we all enjoyed Fort Casey and the lighthouse, Greenbank Farms, Langley. Nice to be able to bring our little dog and be comfortable. The cabin is very comfy, but a few details could be addressed. We could not have a fire in the fireplace because the ax was too dull to chop kindling. The self cleaning oven has not been cleaned in quite a while. Just little things, all in all a great visit.

Rain Rain Everywhere with Sunbreaks In Between

  • 3 of 5

Whidbey Island never disappoints: beautiful sandy beaches for long walks, rain squalls break open to reveal breathtaking mountains, boutique towns to wander, grocery stores catering to gourmet cooks, and Best-in-Washington restaurants. We always enjoy a respite on Whidbey. Seahorse cabin has wonderful views, comfortable beds, and plenty of cookware for delicious, homemade meals with friends and family gathered round the table. The front lawns were great for extended ball play with our dog. We loved listening to the rain pelting the roof while we read or napped, waiting for the next break in the storms, knowing that Seahorse would keep us safe and dry. Or so we thought.

This was our usual price point for VRBO rentals in Puget Sound, Sequim and the San Juans and we have been very happy with the beachfront rentals we’ve found. We understand second-hand furniture and mix-n-match towels & kitchenware, but were challenged by the maintenance and housekeeping issues facing us on arrival. When we noticed the roof was leaking we had to laugh, “What next?” We hope sweet Seahorse cabin receives the attention it richly deserves and look forward to a return visit.

a wonderful time! Great rental

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at this cabin. I loved every inch of it's square footage.

Note, the house is not fully wheelchair accessible, but we made due. I agree with other reviews that this is one we would like to keep secret!
