Located in a secluded natural setting, the Nicholson Lakehouse is a single level home nestled in a cove on picturesque Munsel Lake. The Lakehouse sleeps 6 people, if 2 sleep on the fold-out double bed/couch in the living room. (Each bedroom has a queen bed.)
As you enter the house, beautiful views of the lake spread out before you through large picture windows framing the lake. The open living room/dining room/kitchen area is spacious and inviting. A sliding glass door opens to an expansive deck overlooking the lake framed by rhododendron and huckleberry bushes. A short trail leads to your own private dock. Use our canoe, kayaks, or boat. Or launch your own watercraft at the near-by public boat ramp and moor at the Lakehouse dock. Seasonal water lilies dot the lake with color. Wildlife such as ducks, bald eagles, blue heron, osprey, and otters are often seen.
The Nicholson Lakehouse is a peaceful get-away on warm summer days, or on blustery rainy ones. Enjoy sunshine-filled days of swimming and boating--or curl up with a book beside the fire crackling in the wood stove to watch raindrop patterns in the lake. Either way, it's a most pleasant place to be. MIKE IS NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE BY E-MAIL. PLEASE CALL HIS CELL (541-510-4989) FOR THE QUICKEST RESPONSE.

We kids inherited the Nicholson Lakehouse a couple of years ago. Our parents, long-time Florence residents, built this special home for our family. Now our families continue to enjoy this place of respite, and we're delighted to share it with others.
The Owner purchased this house in 1979
The house is uniquely situated in a cove of Munsel Lake surrounded by forest and natural landscape. A visually friendly railing allows one to sit inside the house or out on the deck while enjoying serene views of the lake and trees. With only a few homes on the north side of lake, and no homes directly across the lake from our home, the setting is extremely private and peaceful. Watch the sun come up in the morning over the trees across the lake, and watch the colors fade out on those same trees, when the sun sets behind you at night. It's a wonderful place for bird and wildlife watching. Ducks, geese, eagles and osprey are a few of the inhabitants with whom we share the lake.
A path leads down to the water and to a sturdy dock equipped with a canoe, boat and kayaks, available to use for fishing or for exploring the lake.
10 minutes away is Old Town Florence with good shopping and dining. Across Hwy 101 is the ocean with miles of beach to walk. Heceta Head Lighthouse just north of us offers hiking trails and lighthouse tours.
There are also commercial sand dune buggy rides available close by.
Down for our first time on the Oregon coast, this house was perfect for family of four. The house is clean, well stocked, organized and maintained. Mike clearly has pride in his house and you can see why; it is a privilege to have it shared with us.
As others have said, the boats (with plenty of life jackets, etc.) is really nice to have on the lake without having to bring your own. The living area is open-concept, which is really nice for family time, and people on the dock are viewable/audible from the lake which helped us know the kids (8 and 6) were safe. We were also lucky in that the kids pulled up well over 50 fish off the dock; by far this was the best part for the kids.
The location relative to Florence was super-convenient as well. At one point, my wife said she felt spoiled with TWO vacations in being able to enjoy the lake and the ocean/dunes. We highly recommend this house!
We have been vacationing here every year for 6yrs :) It's our favorite place to go. The fishing is always excellent & crabbing is fun on South Jetty. If you are looking for a home away from home this is it. After a nice 10day visit you start to forget its not yours. Great place for family's, friends and pets!
A quiet retreat on a beautiful lake, yet close to great restaurants, beautiful beaches and a great town to explore. A wonderful wood stove will keep you cozy and warm after a day's exploration on the lake in the provided watercraft or you can cook up a storm in the beautifully-equipped kitchen. The house is also fully stocked with movies, puzzles, games and toys. Perfect place for a get-away. Loved it!
I only stayed at the property for two days, but it was long enough to appreciate what a great find it is. The house itself is cozy and has plenty of room for a small group of folks. The lake is beautiful, and the watercraft the owner made available were in good repair making for a very enjoyable canoe trip. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for lodging on the central coast, and I look forward to coming back in the future.
We spent a wonderful week at the lakehouse with our two min pins. This was our second year spending a week on Munsel Lake. The house is comfortable, completely stocked with everything you could need and has the most beautiful view of the lake. I took a striking photo of the sunrise through the mist this year. The kayaks were a great addition. We paddled all around the lake a couple of times. We saw a huge beaver in one of the inlets. What we love best is having the lake and the beach all in one vacation. We had some great beach walks. We will be back next year.
We have stayed here 3 years in a row now and this was our best vacation ever! The owners of this peaceful lake home purchased 2 Kayaks for this home which made it possible for all of our visiting family members and us to be out on the lake at the same time since there is also a fishing boat and a canoe.
You can't beat the price, the location, the privacy and the peace you will get from staying at this home. It is so relaxing yet fun at the same time. There is so much to do at this home and in Florence. You have the lake, the sand dunes and the ocean all within a short distance.
There is also alot of patio furniture, BBQ and fire pit all on the deck. Waking up and having breakfast on the deck and at night roasting s'mores over the fire pit is a must!
The home is always clean and well stocked with dishes, pots, pans etc...
Fred Meyer is at the end of the street if you need groceries or other items.
