Why Janet Hafler chose Nantucket Town

We have spent many holidays on Nantucket and we love the island. Being in town allows our family to visit and easily walk to the beach or go out for a wonderful meal. There is nothing like reading the morning paper on our deck!

What makes this house unique

We walk to town in 3 minutes, and enjoy a short walk to the beach. It is a quiet and very lovely way to spend a week or a month.

Quintessential Nantucket

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully restored three-floor classic home. Meticulous owners. Five minute walk to Main St. Incredible view of harbor at sunrise from third floor master suite. Everything works as it should. Two incredible decks, one from first floor off kitchen and one on second floor with easy access. Plenty of room for two cars off-street. Great dining room, eat-in kitchen, and two well-furnished sitting rooms. You will not find a better home in town for the 3-4 bedroom/3.5 bath size.

Car: not necessary

Construction on our home began in the late 1700's, and was completed in 1806 by Mr. Barker, a tradesman in town. The original home remains essentially untouched, save for indoor plumbing, and we celebrated its 200 Birthday in style! Nantucket: no traffic lights, no neon lights...old America from the mid 1800's like no where else in the States. Dine out at among the Nation's finest restaurants, or stay home and cook fresh fish given to you by fisherman on the docks. Watch a quiet sunset in Madaket, or go dancing till dawn at 'The Box'.

Our favorite restaurant is a 6 min walk, Black Eyed Susans.....pick up a bottle of wine on the way, but call early, it is alway packed. Take a taxi out to Cisco Brewery and sample the local beers, and of course, Triple 8 Vodka. No car is necessary on this island, you can bike out to S'conset, have a lobster roll on the beach, and walk along the cliff marveling at the old lighthouse.
