Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

The Island features a wide selection of vacation homes ranging from mansions that rent for $30,000 a week to the “JC Long” homes built following World War Two for returning veterans. Where Grand Pavilion 101 is not a classic WWII home, it is similar in that it is designed to accommodate a family on a budget looking for a fun vacation where focus is on the family. It is clean and offers comfortable bedding for 12 at an attractive rate. Recent upgrades include new living room furnishings, refinished hardwood floors and fresh bedding. It does not have some of the amenities or whistle and bells of neighboring homes that have seen recent extensive renovations, but will offer your family a nice place to stay for a week at the beach.

Grand Pavilion 101 offers everything a guest would like in a family vacation at a good value. Location is everything at 101 Grand Pavilion and is the primary reason, next to price, in choosing this home that is ideally located in the heart of the Grand Pavilion, this home is close to the Grand Pavilion South Croquet Lawn and across from the Boardwalk. The Croquet Lawn is a perfect place for families to gather for a game of croquet or better yet a beautiful lawn to toss the football or kick the soccer ball. The Boardwalk is the heart of Wild Dunes Resort and features two oceanfront swimming pools, beach chair and umbrella rentals, Duney’s Cafe, beach shop, and ice cream parlor. Entertainment can often be found on the Boardwalk during summer afternoons and evenings.

Boardwalk 101 features four bedrooms with four full baths. Two of the bedrooms feature king beds with the remaining bedrooms featuring two queen beds in each. Having six large beds, Boardwalk 101 can accommodate 10 adults. The kitchen, dining area, and living area are located on the first floor along with a bedroom with two queen beds. The second floor features two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with two queen beds. The third floor features a single bedroom with a king bed and balcony overlooking the Croquet Lawn.

Families looking for a good value and basic accommodations in an ideal location will have a fun vacation at Boardwalk 101.

The Isle of Palms, like all barrier islands, has a dynamic beach near the inlet that separates the island from Dewees Island. The ebb and flow of the changing tides, through the inlet, creates and moves sand bars just off shore. These sandbars will channel waves between them, resulting in the massive buildup of sand along portions of the island where other areas may develop temporary erosional hot spots. These hot spots will feature a sand beach throughout the day outside an hour or so before and after high tide. Where a dry sand beach may be limited in these few areas at high tide, walking either direction will lead to an area where the sandbars have created an expansive beach to enjoy at any tide.

best deal for the $

  • 4 of 5

This is the 3rd year our family of 10 has stayed in a grand pavilion house. This one wasn't as updated decor wise, but was extremely clean and functional. Parking was a little tight and no view from the side porch, but it was perfect for the price!

Great Location---Could use a little TLC

  • 4 of 5

This property is in a great great great location. The location is def. worth staying here. There are some items that could def. be addressed in this house though.

1. The second bedroom upstairs with the queen beds is where my husband, daughter and I all stayed in. The one headboard was not even attached to the bed frame so anytime someone shifted in that bed it would bang up against the wall which woke me up constantly. Very annoying. The mattresses were also not great. The bathroom door doesn't shut well and needs to be adjusted as you have to slam it just to shut the door. The shower curtains are def. in need of being updated.

2. The wallpaper in the hallways is coming off the wall. Another example of how this house needs some TLC.

3. Patio furniture is all stained and could use being replaced.

Misled and not happy...

  • 2 of 5

Pictures do not represent what you are paying top dollar for...

Kitchen is cramped and several items were broken.

Door hinges failing in several rooms, very little upkeep.

Only interested in collecting $$$.

Stay away is my advice.

We were refunded 10%, but still the place was not worth the 90% we paid.

Convenient comfortable beach accommodations

  • 4 of 5

Nothing beats the Grand Pavilion location at Wild Dunes. So close to pools, beach, and all activities. Unit is clean but outdated with a very functional floor plan. Loved the deck. Each BR has its own bath. So much to do at WD and so accessible to Charleston. We will return!
