Overview

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

You can stay here and never need a rental car. The streetcar is two blocks away and will take you to Audubon Park, the French Quarter or the Garden District. The city is quite small, so a taxi can affordably take you to any restaurant, arts, or music venue that you seek. Rock N' Bowl is 11 blocks away.

This fully furnished self-contained apartment is one-half of a shotgun double house located in a residential neighborhood. Just two blocks away from beautiful oak-lined Carrollton Avenue, you can walk or bike to Tulane and Loyola Universities, Audubon Park and Zoo.

The house is over 100 years old and boasts original hardwood floors in the living room, a fully furnished kitchen, central A/C, and a lovely private garden patio.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the garden patio while listening to doves cooing nearby. There is a wonderful cafe around the corner that serves breakfast and lunch daily.

No matter what the occasion, it is easy to get to and from your destination. Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, French Quarter, Audubon Park, and the Lakefront are all accessible within a fifteen minute drive from this location.

Close to the Riverbend area, where an abundance of restaurants and live music is available.

If you enjoy running or walking to stay fit, beautiful Audubon Park is close enough to walk or run there (or take a short streetcar ride). The Mississippi River levee is paved for bicycle rides or roller blading.

There is an outdoor Arts Market on the last Saturday of the month at Palmer Park, which is three blocks away. The Arts Market features handmade, affordable art from local and regional artists and artisans. Styles of art include Painting, Photography, Ceramics, Glass, Jewelry, Wood, and Printmaking, plus handmade clothing, soap, candles, and other delights. Between 50 and 100 artists display and sell their wares each month.

Great property, great owners! Clean, comfortable, convenient, and quiet!

  • 5 of 5

What a find in Uptown! This property had everything we needed and was super clean! The washer and dryer were a bonus. The neighborhood is quaint, with a great breakfast & lunch restaurant just around the corner. Walking distance to Tulane University and Loyola. Four of us stayed here with room to spare. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will be back!

Wonderful Neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

This was a great house in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood. The homes in the area were amazing.

Pros: Nice, well kept home, had all the amenities, owner very responsive

Cons: Was quite a ways from French Quarter and Bourbon. The house was a shotgun house so you had to go through one of the bedrooms to get to the other one.

Overall I would definitely recommend

Great choice!

  • 5 of 5

We had a choice between this rental and one right down on the French Quarter. We are so glad we chose this cool shotgun home. Loved the neighborhood including making friends with the cat next door! So many things within walking distance including a grocery, drugstore and the street car line. We bought Jazzy passes for the day and were able to use all the public transportation without worrying about correct change.

The house was clean and it was nice to have little amenities in the kitchen so we didn't have to buy spices and condiments for our short stay. The binder full of information on local restaurants was extremely helpful. We loved Dante's Kitchen! The little cafe around the corner was a great place to grab breakfast too! And we had a great experience at Cochon Butcher... yummmmmm! Bacon pralines!!!

Julie was great to work with and very prompt with all inquiries. We definitely plan to stay there again on our next visit to the Big Easy!

Thanksgiving Holidays

  • 5 of 5

We rented this unit in order to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with our daughter in New Orleans. The choice was perfect for us. The unit is only two blocks from the streetcar line. After we arrived, we did not start the car again until it was time to leave 5 days later. The unit was clean and well-furnished. We were not out at midnight trying to find a wine screw. The unit was exactly as advertised with no surprises. Even though we were reserving at the last minute, everything went smooth as glass. In fact, we have never converse telephonically with the owners due to the exceptional coordination of the owners. We have visited our daughter several times over the past few years and we have never felt safer than we did here. You are in the middle of well-kept family dwellings. We intend to stay here on all of our future visits if they have an opening and will have us.

About The Owner

As a native of New Orleans, I love all the city has to offer in arts, cuisine, cultural events, and natural surroundings. It has been a dream of mine for many years to provide vacation housing in New Orleans and share this beautiful city with others. We are new to this endeavor and hoping you will enjoy the vibrant energy the city has to offer, as well as the creature comforts of this home we have set up for your stay.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1988

Why The Owner chose Uptown-Carrollton

I purchased this property 29 years ago and it was my home for many years before and after I moved to Seattle, WA. We now live and work on the Northshore, but come into the city often to various events.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a great spot !! the description of this property is spot on. Great Neighborhood felt safe the whole time. A beautiful neighborhood with no idea there ever was a hurricane. The bed was very comfortable but I was so tired from the city that i could have probably slept on a 2X4. Very plush so much like home. So Worth the the $$ Great value. We live close by but just knowing no driving was neccesary was a relief that lets you relax even more. Just enough furninshings. The pictures of this site are very recent because it looks just like the pictures. Not always true when you look for places like this. Will Be Back.WORTH EVERY PENNY.!!
