About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

The Amazon Littlefield House is a Block Island landmark. It is an authentic, historic property, a unique Victorian home built by an island fisherman in 1888. The house stands at the head of the Clay Head trail, a lovely 10 minute walk through beautiful rolling fields and paths to one of the most spectacular and private beaches on the island. Mansion Beach, one of the most popular swimming beaches, is a short walk or bike ride away. The house is lovingly maintained in a traditional fashion with simple hardwood floors, plaster walls and comfortable period furnishings and artwork.

As it is situated an a high point on Corn Neck there are beautiful views from all the bedrooms and gorgeous sunset prospects from the stone patio. The house has four bedrooms, one with a queen bed, two with doubles and one with a double and a twin. The rooms are airy and open with cooling cross-breezes. The House is separated from the road by a tall hedge and surrounded a barn, perennial gardens, trees and lawns.

There is a big, deep porch that wraps around the front with rocking chairs perfect for morning coffee and watching the birds in the meadow. The stone patio at the back is perfect for cooking, drinks, dinner or simply watching the sunset.

The Amazon Littlefield House is one of the most distinguished, historic houses on Block Island and an authentic island experience.

Summer, the way it should be.

We had such a wonderful vacation in this house. Everything is just as pictured. It's a classic Victorian house, artfully decorated in such a way that it truly does take you back in time. The kitchen is rustic, yet has everything you need. There is lots of space for relaxing, from the sitting rooms downstairs, to the wrap around porch, to the fantastic patio out back. The TV is tiny, but we loved that. Instead of being in front of it when we were indoors, we spent time playing cards and board games and reading books. Similarly, lack of wifi wasn’t a problem, as it helped us disconnect more from the real world -- which was a very good thing. I can’t remember enjoying a summer vacation quite like this since I was kid. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic vacation at the Amazon Littlefield House

  • 5 of 5

I have never felt so relaxed in the most charming and well equipped, well maintained home on Block Island. It was so comfortably and beautifully decorated with antiques and interesting artifacts that we felt we went back in time. My grandchildren were in awe of all the interesting collection of items of nature. Sometimes we have rented other houses and the owner states the kitchen is well equipped and we find it lacking. This kitchen has everything you would need to cook any type of meal! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with all types of herbs surounding a beautiful stone patio with a huge metal cauldron to have fires at night. The owner gave an accurate description of the home and property. The barn on the property is amazing. My son took pictures of it so that some day he would like to build one like it in Maine to be his home. There were toys and games for the children to play with at night and the location is so convenient to all the most beautiful beaches on Block Island. My son and son-in-law surfed every day and we went to the beach every day we were there. The collection of books in the house was amazing. My husband read four books while we were there. I've never seen him more relaxed! There are so many beautiful trails so close by and beautiful shops and restaurants . The children set up an old fashioned lemonade stand that is at the house and they had so many customers they couldn't believe it. We would definately consider renting it again next year. Thanks again for one of the all time best vacations with our family we've ever had!!

A wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

The house was friendly and welcoming with lovely decoration, colors and light. Appreciated the excellent communication from the owners about the place and the history. The kitchen was well appointed and great for cooking family meals. Lovely back terrace and garden with sunset views at the "magic hour". Location at the top of Clay Head trail perfect for walks down to the stony ocean beach and island explorations. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Block Island Classic

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walked in to this spectacular home we felt right at home. I am a set designer and generally feel when I enter a room that this or that should be changed or removed....I could not have improved on this home if I had to. In fact it inspired me to redecorate my own home! The owners could not have been nicer. The kitchen was wonderfully appointed with everything from all-clad pots and pans to an electric ice cream maker. Lavender surrounds the outdoor patio which afforded the most beautiful water views under spectacular sunsets while lounging in the cleverly placed adirondack chairs. The walls are painted in tranquil shades of sea glass, rooms decorated with perfectly edited heirlooms. Beds and baths are new and fresh. It was hard to leave. We are checking our calendars for our next visit. HIGHLY recommend. Fresh mint picked from the garden floating in your cocktail as you rock on the porch....what is better than that? Maybe reading a book in the hammock enjoying some homemade raspberry ice cream!
