About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Explore the Olympic Peninsula from this private home located just minutes from the Hood Canal Bridge. Or, relax on the wrap-around deck and enjoy the fantastic view! The house looks west to the Olympic Mountains, east to the Cascades and Mount Baker, south to the Hood Canal, and north to Puget Sound.

Comfortably furnished with antiques, this 3 bedroom, 3000 square foot house has the perfect floor plan for a family vacation. The master bedroom suite is on the main floor and opens onto the deck. A second bedroom with 4 single beds is on the same floor. A third bedroom and the TV/rec room are in the daylight basement.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and a large attached master bath with walk-in shower and large jacuzzi tub. Perfect for the adults!

The second mainfloor bedroom comfortably sleeps 4. It has 2 twin beds, plus a day bed with a pop-up trundle. A full bath w/ shower and tub is just around the corner. Perfect for the kids!

The third bedroom has a queen-size bed, and is across the hall from a full bath and next to the downstairs TV room/den with a queen-size sleeper sofa. This arrangement is perfect for teens, or a second couple!

Enjoy the views from the open dining/living room. It has a high vaulted ceiling, a wood-burning fireplace, and floor to ceiling windows. The dining room table easily seats 8. The large, open kitchen has 2 stoves, a breakfast counter that seats 4, and is fully stocked with staples.

In the summer you will want to relax on the deck. A patio table and several patio chairs are provided, along with a gas grill.

The house is at the end of a mile long private road, so there is very little traffic, no noise, and lots of privacy. The 2 acre property has a large swing set/play structure for the kids, several flower gardens, and lots of room to run around and explore. Because of a unique location--near a forest on the edge of a meadow--there are several varieties of wild birds in the area, from hummingbirds to hawks. Bird feeders attract them to the garden, where they are easily viewed from the deck and dining room. If you are a bird lover, you will love this house.

The Port Ludlow Resort is nearby. There you will find kayaking, boating, 3 9-hole championship golf courses, hiking trails and restaurants.

The house is just minutes from Highway 104 and the Hood Canal Bridge, which makes it a perfect location for day trips in every direction. Or, don't drive anywhere: just step out the door, take a stroll down the private road, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the country.

About Marion Clemens

I grew up in Washington, and bought this house so we could spend the summers and school holidays there with our 2 kids. The house is really our second home, and has everything from satellite TV to wireless internet. When I'm not out in the garden I enjoy sitting on the deck and watching the sun set over the Olympics. The rest of the year we live in Chicago, and I miss the mountains.

Marion Clemens purchased this house in 2004

Why Marion Clemens chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

The house is at the very top of one of the highest hills in Jefferson County, and has 180 degree unobstructed views of Hood Canal, the Olympic mountains and Puget Sound. The view is just amazing!

What makes this house unique

By far the best feature of the house is the view, and the fact that you can see mountains or water from every room. We recently enlarged the deck, and put in a tempered glass railing system to maximize the view. The other unique feature is being off the main road, so you have peace and privacy, as well as great walking or jogging paths right out the front door.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have been in this wonderful house for a year. We were burned out of our home last May and it was such a relief to have a peaceful place to come home to. Every room has a view. In good weather, we didn't leave the deck until the sun set over the mountains. Spectacular. We watched the "meadow" change with the seasons, each one lovely.

The neighborhood is quiet but friendly. The house accommodated my whole family, with 7 children, when they came to visit. Toys and books are provided, as is a very nice outdoor gym set. House is fully stocked with linens, cooking utensils, dishes of all sorts.

It is with some regret that we leave for our home 6 miles away. We are thankful for our time here and will always remember this second home and lovely area.

Beautiful House, Beautiful Views

  • 5 of 5

From the booking to the stay, everything about this process was easy and comfortable. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Hood Canal area, I highly recommend this rental. Myself and 4 friends stayed at this house while celebrating a friend's wedding in Port Gamble. The house is beautiful with clean and spacious rooms throughout. The best part of the house is hanging out on the deck and enjoying the views of the mountains and water.

Wonderful home to gather family.

  • 5 of 5

We had family gathered to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday and the house beautifully added to our experience. The home is clean, spacious and with the main floor bedrooms and bathrooms easy access for people of any age. The expansive decks that wrap around make for wonderful gathering spots with beautiful views. Thank you Marion for such a great experience.

Excellent stay in Port Ludlow

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house with plenty of space for the family to spread out. Teens able to be a little noisy without waking up younger kids downstairs. Very nicely located with easy access to groceries as well as the National Park. Owner made us feel very welcome and was always available for questions. Would recommend the place without reservations.

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Where to start. The home is beautiful, very well maintained and the views are incredible. It is excellent for young children as we had our 2 year old grandson along. The deck was very safe and he loved the swing set and slide. The owners were VERY easy to work with and left a nice welcoming package for us. If you are looking, look no further!

We are already planning our next get away to this wonderful retreat.

Perfect Vacation/Get-Away Home

  • 5 of 5

We spent four nights in this spectacular home and had a great time. The house is located at the top of hill/ridge and offers wonderful views of the Olympic Mountains and the Hood Canal. On an especially clear day we saw Mt. Hood - amazing! The home is spacious - plenty of room for large groups -and the kitchen is very well stocked. The owner even left a welcome basket with coffee, wine, cheese and crackers - a very nice and much appreciated touch. There is plenty to do in the area - Port Townsend is a neat Victorian Town. The drive to Port Angeles the gateway to Olympic Park wasn't bad and quite scenic. Take time to just enjoy the house, the spacious deck, and the scenic grounds. We really enjoyed watching the humming birds as they came to the feeders for a snack. All in all a great place- can't wait to return.
