Quiet and relaxing green oasis with plenty of space and convenient location
We have stayed at many different places and this one was a delightful and relaxing spot, surrounded by lovely green trees yet with spacious views out into the distance. Everything you need is here, even a washer dryer, and ample space for a relaxing stay. A little porch to the side and a nice front deck provide outside sitting areas too and the sunlight streaming into the rooms is wonderful! The location is also very convenient - close to Sausalito, Mill Valley shops, local store down the road with great, healthy food! Our host was very friendly and accommodating. You'll have a great stay here!
A Lovely Hideaway in Mill Valley
This charming apartment lived up to its' description on VRBO. It is located in a locked and gated 'compound' and parking is available. The apt. is underneath a garage so you need to navigate stairs and decking to get to it. One of the tenants greeted me and helped with my bag and questions.
It's very close to San Fran, and Sausalito and convenient to Mill Valley and lots of hiking/biking/walking trails in the area. Just down the hill is a great "Whole Foods" type grocery with hot food, deli wine-everything you might want for meals. The kitchen is well stocked and there's a table and chairs for meals. There are many good restaurants in town as well.
I was visiting friends that, although did not have extra space for my stay did drive me around while there. Mill Valley is pretty densely populated. If you are a city dweller and used to driving in traffic (and on hills) and have navigation, you won't have a problems. As I am so not that person, I was glad to have a driver. I did take a LYFT one time to the grocery as I didn't feel comfortable walking down the wine-dy hillside in the road.
The apt. is very spacious, clean and comfortable; mattress and linens nice. The wall overlooking town is almost all windows so a lovely view and there are nice blinds which I used at night to give privacy and limit light pollution to the owner and tenants. There are 2 place to sit outside and enjoy the views and fresh air. It has an elaborate shower-owners might put directions in there but not too tricky.
The owner and other tenants were friendly and helpful.
FYI there is a Marin Transporter bus that will get you to the airport for $22-pick up is close to this place. A suggestion also is to take the Sausalito ferry to San Francisco. It's a lovely boat ride over on a sunny day and there is a great indoor market as you get off with a seafood restaurant having outdoor seating by the bay. From there I suspect it's easy to explore the city.
A Beautiful Hillside Retreat
We needed a total change of scene that was not really too far from home and this cottage fit the bill! It is literally built into a hillside, under the garage of the owners, who also live on the property. Because of the trees on the property and a system of stairs and wooden passways it is very private. The view is beautiful - of the lights in the nearby hills, and Richardson Bay. You do also see a portion of 101. Inside, the bed is extremely comfortable, the decor tasteful. The kitchen area is small but adequate with a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee pot and toaster oven. We did not use the stacked washer dryer and the owners prefer you to bring your own soap for this. The bathroom was equipped with an unusual shower - used to be a steam shower but now only the shower part is used. It was wonderful having the water rain down from above. And the heating unit worked well on the chilly December evenings.
We did not see our hosts except to check in and out, because we were there during the holidays and I think they had some family business going on, but they gave us all the information we needed and were prompt to change a burned out light bulb in the bathroom.
If anyone has difficulty going up and down stairs, this unit might be challenging because there are two separate short flights of stairs to get down to it.
The property is in close driving distance to the Tennessee Valley trailhead. We hiked to
Tennessee Cove Beach and it was a fun hike, where we saw an owl and a bobcat. We could have spent several days checking out all the trails! We drove to Muir Beach overlook which is a beautiful spot.
Restaurants we enjoyed were Sol Food (on Miller Ave.) , Pizza Antika (Strawberry Village) and Mill Valley Beer Works (downtown). We certainly would love to go back again.
Tree House Bungalow!
Clean. Quiet. Great views.
Close to Sauselito and hiking.
Amazing little apartment, Perfect for a couple, beautiful views, right in nature
The property was clean, bathroom very nice, little tiny kitchen, washer dryer handy, it was perfect for us, as a couple we had plenty of space, even for our road bikes!
Thanks yes most everyone loves our place
What a great place to spend a 3day weekend. The photos don't do it justice! The only thing missing is a comfy outdoor chair in the side garden to relax in. If you arrive at night, please note, the area is very dark. The only unfortunate thing during my stay on the last night was the crazy wildfires that tore through communities to the north and east. So sorry for the devastation there! Mill Valley was great and the Schneeberger's are fantastic!
Thank you! Yes everyone loves our place. We tried putting soft chairs on the decks but they just get moldy. We suggest that guests take the throw pillows form the bed and put them on the outdoor chairs when they are outside.
minutes away from Muir Woods, Golden Gate National Wildlife Refuge, Golden gate bridge, Mount Tamalpais and Napa - Sonoma wine country + everything that the vibrant city of San Francisco has to offer
