About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9-11)

Welcome to Flatwater Landing. Let the breath-taking scenic beauty, multiple outdoor activities and abundant wildlife inspire you. This lovely, lakefront lodge-style home is situated on a 7+ park-like acre paradise.

In the Summer enjoy all that Lake Pend Orielle has to offer. Boating, swimming or just relaxing on the dock or just dangling your toes in the sparkling water. The days are warm but the evenings cool comfortably and a campfire on the beach is the perfect end to a fun-filled Summer day. The 360 degree views are captivating, sunrise on the calm waters of the Pend Orielle and sunsets over the Selkirk Mountains. Fall is equally supreme with its crisp days and brilliant autumn colors. September is a great time for hiking or maybe blueberry picking at one of the local farms. October's good for a drive around the lake to experience the Fall colors, or just a sit on the deck or dock and watch the bald eagles and osprey.

Winter brings snow and the opportunity to x-country ski or snowshoe along the lakeshore. Schweitzer Mountain Resort is only a short 30min./17 mi drive if you find skiing or snowboarding are more appealing. After, you can warm up by the fire with a nice cup of ho-cho while you enjoy the winter views.

When Spring arrives the fields and hills green, It's great to get out for a long walk or bike ride, or pass the time sitting in the sun reading and watch as the Canadian geese begin to nest on the point.

This is an Ideal setting for a Spring, Summer or Fall outdoor Wedding.

North Idaho is truly a year-round paradise.

Sandpoint lies on the shores of Idaho’s largest lake, the 43 mile-long Lake Pend Oreille; it’s surrounded by mountains and in 2011 it was named the nation’s “Most Beautiful Small Town” by Rand McNally and USA Today. It’s a true year-round destination with winter sports and summer fun.

*If the dates you are hoping for are not available, we also have a vacation rental home in South Sandpoint that is on a large lot in a quiet neighborhood 2 blocks from a beautiful lakeside park with play ground, picnic tables dock and boat launch.

* We also have a sweet vacation home in fun and exciting Austin, TX !

About Cindy Peterson

My husband and I both grew up near Seattle, WA. We have been married 24 years. We have 2 grown children. We enjoy many outdoor activities individually and as a family. Though we love the beauty and opportunity for outdoor activity near our home in western Washington, we also enjoy our activities at a slower pace and a less crowded space. Our place in Idaho has everything we love without the traffic or the crowds. We truly found our 'Happy Place' on the shores of Lake Pend Orielle!

Cindy Peterson purchased this house in 2007

Why Cindy Peterson chose Sandpoint

For many years we thought about how the ideal place for us would be on a lake near a ski area and a small town where people generally shared our values of home and family and simply enjoying nature and the outdoors. We hoped it would be a place we could enjoy family time with our(now grown children) and their friends and someday their families. It's nice having a place to share good times with our friends as well. We love to ski and snowshoe in the winter. We hike and bike, boat, sail, canoe, waterski/wake surf, fish and hunt and we can do it all here in North Idaho. We purchased the land in 2004 and began building in 2007, finishing in June of 2008.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the inspiring views from any window in the house. The fresh, clean air, seeing wildlife like bald eagles and osprey, deer and moose, coyotes, rabbits, frogs, turtles, toads, turkeys, geese, loons, squirrels and chipmunks... to name a few. We love just sitting on the dock and taking in the beauty or jumping/diving off for a swim on a warm summer day. Indoors, the in-floor radiant heat and the gas fireplace will keep you toasty warm during the cold months, and the abuntant windows open up to catch the evening breeze to keep you cool in the Summer. Our home has a warm, cozy, lodgey feel to it. We tried to create a cabin feel without being too cutesy or campy and we have used some subtle touches that have received high praise from our family, friends and guests. We hope you will feel comforted there too.

Private, Peaceful Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely home in a very private setting. Quiet and refreshing in every way. Easy to load and unload kayaks into the water. Low bank which was great for us older folks. Listen to coyotes howl at night and watched a eagle take a fish from right at shore. Also saw deer grazing nearby. Home was lovely. Did, however, miss having a television to view news or wifi access. Otherwise was a great stay. Thanks so much! Will definitely consider returning.

Owner's Response: Thanks Linda, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your respect, kind and gentle use of our beloved "Peaceful Paradise" and "Happy Place". We are sorry you were missing network TV News and wifi access. We enjoy being "unplugged" while there and hope that it affords our guests the opportunity to experience the true peace and beauty of the surrounding nature, unencumbered by the trappings of technology. Thank you again for choosing to vacation at Flatwater Landing. Cheers!

Beautiful place on the River

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at Flatwater Landing and hopefully will not be our last! It is a beautiful, quiet place with a nice private beach on a nice part of the river. It is perfect for waterskiing, jetskiing and just swimming right off the dock. The house does have an interesting layout, but there is lots of room in the house and on the grounds. We paid to have our extended family park their motorhome next to the house and it was perfect for this use. We ate outside most every night using the nice outdoor furniture and bbq provided, played croquet and volleyball on the lawn, and enjoyed the lakeside firepit most evenings. When a bad storm blew up one night the buoy provided was perfect for our boat. Cabin was clean, well equipped and the owner was easy to deal with and it is obvious that they take good care of this property. The only drawback was that the main part of the living space (kitchen, living room and 2 of 3 bedrooms) are up steep stairs and made for a lot of up and down - but that is minor! One of the nicest rentals in the Sandpoint area!

Ideal Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to Flatwater Landing. As several other guests have stated, Cindy is a pleasure to deal with – she is friendly, accommodating and responsive. The property is ideal if you are interested in vacationing with your dog. The property is large so your dog can be off-leash without disturbing the neighbours and you are right on the water. The Cabin is clean and has all the requisite amenities. The property is about 10 minutes from Sandpoint. We will definitely be back in the future.

Peaceful weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had to book as last minute as you can get and the owners were so gracious and responsive. The cabin is constructed and decorated wonderfully. The grounds meticulously maintained. I don't think I've ever seen such a clean patio and exterior stairs. It is very apparent this property is truly loved and cared for. With a gorgeous river view and access, we didn't want to leave! The property has a wonderful fire pit, beach and dock. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Amazing Fun!!

  • 5 of 5

For almost 10 years our family has vacationed in Sandpoint while camping at Riley Creek. This was the first year we decided to book a vacation home due to extended family coming, that were not campers, and it was perfect!! The house was beyond beautiful, and when we weren't skiing, swimming or surfing, the beach volleyball court was used frequently! Having the dock and private beach right there is such a bonus. Early morning skiing, evening sunsets and late night gatherings around the campfire made wonderful memories. Thank you Cindy :)

Relaxing and Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

This was one of our best vacations we've had. The owners have thought about every detail. The huge green lawn down to the sandy beach and fire pit was perfect for Frisbee in the evenings while BBQ'ing dinner. The swimming area off the sandy beach was awesome to cool off in. The dock was great to tie our boat up to and a perfect spot to sit and relax in the sun! The well equipped home was very clean and comfortable.

Thanks for sharing your home with us Cindy, we'll be back!
