Great value

The House was a lot larger than it appeared in the photos. The instructions were clear on how to navigate the locks and gate which was appreciated. The bedding and towels were laid out which was great. The furniture was all very comfortable. For the price, this place was a great value. The only downside was the utensils were a bit dirty and it could use a thorough cleaning, but all the linens and towels were definitely laundered and fresh.

Not at all what we expected

My three business partners and I took the trip for a business retreat. the house was nothing like we expected. The property description does not make it clear that this is a shared unit and that unfamiliar people come and go through the gate to access the second unit at the back of the house. At one point someone tried to enter our area while we were sitting in there.

The floors were not clean, The pull out couch was absolutely disgusting, so much so that two of my partners slept on the couch at opposite ends. Additionally, we had to have a comforter replaced on one of the beds because it was dirty and we had issues with the toilet not flushing completely. The comforter and toilet were addressed immediately by Raul, the owner, who was very responsive throughout our visit (This is why two stars and not one).

Finally, there was a stench in the house that settled there every time we left for the day and would return. It was reminiscent of moth balls and mold. In fact one of my partners and I coughed consistently throughout the evening while staying here until we went out and purchased some Zyrtec. I don't believe that this smell is new to the owner, but he accused my partners and I of smoking weed in the house to hold our cleaning deposit. No member of team smokes.

Ultimately, as a group that travels all over the world, we were in London the week prior, this stay tops the list of our least favorite.

Owner's Response: Highly problematic guests who left a disgusting mess all over the place, the toilet running, and smoked cannabisn in my house. The stench was disgusting. Do not rent to this person.

Good location although area slightly run down,Great bars and restaurants beach only 15 minute drive

Able to park on private drive. Entered property into sparse living area. Kitchen compact, in need of new crockery. Front Bedroom okay. Back bedroom okay although bed was broken and owner did not repair bed When asked although he did send some crockery. Rest room has spacious shower, vanity unit needs updating

Not what we expected

This property was not what we were expecting. So much so that we departed a night early. The property description does not make it clear that this is a shared unit and that unfamiliar people come and go through the gate to access the second unit at the back of the house. It is one house divided by two interior doors into two units with an "in-law suite" in back. We were not aware that our valuables would need to be stored in the safe and that despite several attempts we would be unable lock it properly. The house instructions stated that, “…we are not responsible…for a guest’s refusal to use the safe.” From this statement, we came believe that theft is a concern. This was made more clear to us to by the barking of “trained attack dogs” next door. A sign on the adjacent property stated, "This property is guarded by trained attack dogs." In all of our travels, we have never seen a sign such as this.

This property may be a good choice for men traveling alone but the same is not true for a family with teenage girls. While I understand from emailing the owner that the shared nature of the unit was disclosed in the contract I hope he will consider adding to the property description that this is a shared unit in which others come and go through the gate, that it is necessary to keep valuables in a safe, and that trained attack dogs are next door.

We love to travel. We love experiencing other cultures and we are the opposite of high maintenance. We are not people who complain about the comfort of the beds or the temperature of the water. We hope this note will encourage the owner to revise the property description to more accurately reflect both the unit and the neighborhood.

Downtown Miami

Overall it was a great stay. No major issues. The owner of the property was very prompt whenever I had any questions. Also, would recommend getting a vehicle for this location. It was very easy to get to I-95 and etc. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect, quintessential Miami house

My two young sons and I stayed here for 4 days and absolutely fell in love with the area. We spent every morning and every evening on the beautiful porch. I would highly recommend staying here if you like to get a true feel for the city and the community, over staying in a cookie-cutter hotel. Definitely will return!!
