Wonderful Historic Indian Pass Cottage

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom 2 bath house

A beautifully restored Historic home on Indian Pass, our cottage is the ideal place to create wonderful family beach memories. Spend hours laughing on the front porch with friends with the sound of the surf to keep you company. Originally a dairy farmhouse, the home was built in 1910. In 2005, the cottage was relocated to Indian Pass from Port St. Joe and lovingly restored. The renovation preserved all of the cottage’s original charm while adding every modern convenience. Early 2010 brought even more renovations. New furnishings, linens, and appliances dress up the home just in time for its 100th anniversary.

The quiet beach of Indian Pass will make you feel like you have found the last undiscovered beach on the planet. Spend your days lazing in the sun, building sand castles, or watching for dolphins. Plan to build a beach bonfire one night for roasting marshmallows, chasing Ghost crabs, and counting stars. Sea turtles nest in the area from May-October and Turtle Patrol Volunteers take turns early every morning looking for signs of a new nest to secure.

Love to fish? Charter a boat at the Port Saint Joe Marina for a deep sea adventure, put your own boat in the water at the Indian Pass Campground boat launch a mile down the road, or enjoy casting and catching from the shoreline. Not to be missed is the famous Indian Pass Raw Bar a few minutes from the house. On an honor system, help yourself to a cold beverage in the cooler, grab any available chair, and catch up on the latest gossip along the Forgotten Coast with the locals and folks wishing they were locals. Fresh oysters and shrimp caught in the area’s waters are served along with quite a few hot dogs.

While the beach is the highlight, the cottage is right in between Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. Both towns offer plenty of restaurants and shops to explore. The Owl Café is a favorite restaurant in Apalach for lunch or dinner. Spend time browsing through the historic Grady Market and you will surely find something you just can’t live without. Head West on C30 to visit Port St. Joe. Visit the Farmer’s Market along Reed Ave on Saturdays in the summer, catch an outdoor movie, or head over to the School of Fish restaurant for a cocktail and the best sunset view along the coast.

We love to cook and the kitchen is a chef’s dream. A professional gas range and oven, stainless steel cabinets and prep areas along with new gadgets and appliances are highlights. The Big Chill Retro Refrigerator is a nod to the vintage kitchen that once graced the cottage. Enjoy dining on the screened porch just off of the kitchen.

The living room has plenty of space for your family to chat, grab a book, or cheer for your favorite team on the flat screen TV/DVD. The sofa pulls out to a double bed when additional sleeping space is needed.

The cottage really has two master bedrooms. Bedroom one has an elegant peacefulness. The attached bathroom has a large shower with an antique stained glass window for light. Bedroom two has crisp white linens and a pop of bright colors here and there. The attached bathroom has a tub and shower. Both rooms have queen sized beds, TV/DVDs, and IPod stations. The third bedroom has a fun Americana theme with two twin trundle beds. This room can also be used as a second living area with TV/DVD, games, and toys galore.

The back porch has a private outdoor shower perfect for hosing down sandy kids, dogs, and husbands. Speaking of dogs… four legged family members with perfect manners may be able to join in the fun. Special approval, and fee required. Well behaved owners are allowed to bring their dogs on the beaches of Indian Pass.

Mimi and Sparky, grandparents extraordinaire, live a skip down the beach and they look after Jubilee Cottage and her guests. Long time residents, they are full of information about the area and love to give advice. We think they are one of the cottage’s best features.

About The Owner

The Croft Family

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Florida Main North West

We have vacationed on Indian Pass for over ten years always dreaming of the day we would find a place in the sand of our own. We were thrilled when one of our favorite cottages became available and we were able to purchase the property. We love the unique beauty and peacefulness of the area. Jubilee Cottage brings our family back to a time and place where life slows down, things are simpler, and childhoods can be remembered.

What makes this house unique

Quiet street, great for listening to the birds while on the porch. The house is made of cypress planks, floor to ceiling making it a unique gem.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay. Jubilee Cottage is beautiful and comfortable and we were able to really relax. The golf cart was a wonderful addition. We rode on the beach each evening to watch the sun set. Truly one of the more relaxing vacations we've ever had.

The Wind And the Stars

  • 5 of 5

So tranquil, very few people on the beach. Ginger, my golden retriever, was able to run, swim, and chase birds to her hearts content. We arrived when there was no moon so the Milky Way was in full brilliance. The park at Cape San Blas is a true gem and just a short drive away. The house itself has a wonderful peaceful feeling. Many hours were enjoyed water coloring on the back porch and reading on the front porch. The owners were very kind and warm. One of my favorite vacations ever.

Best rental experience ever!

  • 5 of 5

We rented in April of 2014. We have rented a lot of places and for sure this was our best experience. The hosts have thought of everything, and provided the best tried and true information about things to do in the area. The house is exceptional in every way! And then there is the beach -- I can't believe an area like this still exists. Old Florida at its best!

Feels like Home

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your home with first question was "Is it for sale?". It is truly a wonderful place to stay. It just feels like home. You have a real treasure. You mom said your family spends several weeks there every year. Those are memories your children (and ya'll) will cherish the rest of their lives.

All that said its a BOY!!!!! We can't hardly wait.

Thanks again for your kindness and we will be visiting again!

Wisconsin Visitors in March!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Jubilee Cottage during our stay in March. The bedrooms are very large and I loved the high ceilings of the cottage. (I notice these things as I am 6'6" tal) The kitchen was great and everything that we needed to eat in was provided at the cottage.

The owners have a very keen eye when it comes to decorating the cottage. My wife is an interior designer and she was impressed by the overall design. Every room is impecciably decorated!

I would recommend the golf cart rental. We enjoyed driving up and down the beach looking for wildlife. My wife even used the cart to drive to lunch at the Indian Pass Raw Bar one afternoon.

The Indian Pass area is great if you are looking to "get away from it all" It is NOT a tourist trap with multiple T-shirt shops lining the streets. It was perfect for our family and my wife and I plan on coming back in 2012 for our 25th wedding aniversary.

Relaxing Visit

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for allowing us to visit Jubilee! The cottage is absolutely charming and welcomed us from the moment we arrived. The interior decor is outstanding and the kitchen was amazing! We were able to enjoy a rainy morning on the front porch drinking coffee; lazy days and evenings relaxing on the the beautiful beach; witness the turtle migration to the ocean and end our visit with a bonfire on the beach! We had an incredible relaxing visit and could not have ask for anything more! We will return next year! Thank you for sharing your home - sending you happy thoughts from Georgia!
