About Susan Carl

This condo is owned by a partnership of six friends out of Missoula, Montana.

Susan Carl purchased this condo in 2004

Why Susan Carl chose Mountain Village

We purchased this condo as a premiere place to play. We are all avid skiers as well as love the summer activities and the peace and quiet of Big Sky

What makes this condo unique

The condo itself has a large deck overlooking the mountain range. The grounds are beautifully landscaped in the summer.

Great place for family ski week

  • 4 of 5

The condo makes a great impression as soon as you walk in the door. We loved the vaulted ceiling, the trophy mounts, the fireplace and the furniture. The long table with benches on each side and chairs at each end was perfect for meals and for playing games in the evenings. There was plenty of room in the bedrooms, and it was really nice to have a separate bath room for each bedroom. The plush towels were an added bonus. Nice assortment of dishes, flatware, pots, pans and utensils, and plenty of supplies. Firewood in the garage was a nice surprise. A snow shovel seemed to be the only thing that was missing. Most people probably don't want to shovel snow on their vacation, but we had so much snow last week that a shovel would have been helpful. Our only negative comment was that it was difficult to get the shower valve at the right setting (either too hot or not warm enough) and the shower curtain needs to be replaced (both comments apply to the downstairs shower). Overall, a great unit, and we would be happy to stay there again the next time we go to Big Sky.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Big Horn 43 was perfect for our group of 5 adults, staying for five nights in February 2016. Here were the things we liked best:

(1) Location - The location was ski in/ski out from the Bear Poma lift. (For those who have not been to Big Sky before, the Poma lift is basically a tow lift that pulls riders up the mountain about 500 ft for an easy ski into the Big Sky Village and the main lifts there.) The location is also walkable to several bars and restaurants in the Big Sky Village at night including Cabin, Hummers, and Montana Jacks. Lastly, the shuttle for Yellowstone picks up from 60 yards outside the front door of the unit so if anyone in your group wants to shuttle to Yellowstone, then they will not need to walk far. Also, the neighbors were very friendly. Neighbor Neal invited us over to his place one evening which was a real pleasure.

(2) Cleanliness/Decor - We found everything to be very nice in the unit. It was definitely clean and tidy. We enjoyed the Montana decor.

(3) Amenities - We found all of the amenities to be more than adequate. The WiFi worked well when we were in the unit and the satellite TV options were substantial. We also had access to the hot tub and heated pool at the Huntley Lodge in the Big Sky Village. The Huntley Lodge is about a 10 minute walk (uphill) from the unit. We were able to bring our suits and change at the Huntley Lodge for a swim, and then change back and walk to the unit. The Huntley Lodge also has a fitness center and showers.

(4) Owner Attentiveness - Susan is great! We called her twice during our stay and she answered right away to address our questions.

Overall, we give Big Horn 43 five stars and would stay again. Thank you!

Highly recommend this unit

  • 5 of 5

I hesitate to write this review because I would hate for this property to be taken next time we want to stay there! This was our first experience in Big Sky for our family of 6 including one teen and three young adults. We have rented a number of condos over the years and this was certainly one of the best layouts and locations we have experienced. It is a short hike to the main village where the main lifts are or a shorter walk to a nearby chair lift up a side (blue) run. Because we had so much gear we did drive to the village and drop people off then used the free parking with a shuttle back to the village. We had rented a Ford Expedition similar in size to a Suburban and it fit snuggly but easily into the garage. Very nice to have a warm car to get into in the morning! From the garage (or front door) one enters a large mud room with long bench and many large peg-style clothing hooks to hang an ample amount of gear. One can turn up the heat in the mud room if desired to dry out clothing, etc. Through the mud room one enters the main floor and a well stocked kitchen with all the dishes and utensils, etc. to cook a gourmet meal. There is a crock pot, standard appliances, a large set of knives, excellent utensils, full set of pans etc. There are many places to eat out but we like to cook for ourselves and found the kitchen to be more than adequate. Bedrooms have plenty of space with closets and dressers. The master bathroom also services the main floor. There is a small fireplace stocked with plenty of wood and large screen TV and WiFi. It is very clean and has all the necessary amenities for nice ski trip. If you are a PETA person you might not appreciate the animal trophies on the walls on the main floor but they do add character to the unit.

Great Condo rental @ Big Sky

  • 5 of 5

The condo was great. Everything was as expected and it is a very pleasant place to stay. It is a short walk to the Poma lift and from there it is downhill to the base area. We would definitely stay there again.

Excellent ski and stay condo

  • 5 of 5

Our group has been travelling to Big Sky for a number of years and these were the best accommodations we have had yet. It was ski-on, ski-off and very easy walking distance to the Mountain Village shops and restaurants. The owners were also extremely helpful and the trip was stress-free. Hopefully we can book it again this year!
