Why Heather Ford chose Prince Edward County

We bought this house because we were looking for a weekend get away from our busy lives in Toronto. When we saw it's million dollar view we could see ourselves relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine.

What makes this house unique

We've fallen in love with the County and all there is to do and see. My husband is a fidgety guy so the cottage's proximity to downtown coffee shops and restaurants and the potential for daily excursions to wineries, beaches and other small towns makes the location perfect for us.

Our Stay at Cozy Cottage, Summer 2016

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Cozy Cottage on a number of occasions and always enjoyed our experience there. Cozy Cottage is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the big city without having to give up any of the amenities of a civilized life. Situated in the middle of Picton, you are only a short walk away from great restaurants, movie theatre and espresso bars for that all important morning capacino. That's assuming of course you can drag yourself away from one of the most lovely views in the County. Overlooking Picton harbour, it's all too easy to while away your time dreamlike counting the clouds and boats passing by sipping a glass of County wine or eating dinner prepared with local produce on the deck right outside your door.

If you get ambitious, a short drive in almost any direction takes you into a countryside of bucolic farmland, the best beaches in Ontario and, of course, many vineyards for wine tasting (choosing a designated driver is advised).

Cozy Cottage itself is well equipped, clean, comfortable and filled with small touches that make it seem more like a home than a vacation rental. It is situated on a very quiet street so light sleepers rejoice. Finally, the owners are extremely accommodating and respectful of your privacy.

Prince Edward County is a great holiday destination. Cozy Cottage will make your visit even more memorable and we highly recommend it.

Quaint cottage style. Bright and cheery with a fabulous view.

  • 4 of 5

We stay in the county every summer. This was by far the best cottage experience we've had yet. The cottage has been kept quaint with minimal cottage style decor. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped. It was very clean. The space is light and bright with a fabulous view of the harbour. We spent a lot of time in the backyard for meals and for lounging in the muskoka chairs. The only extra thing that might have been nice would be the addition of a lounge chair out back.

The cottage has two very comfortable beds. Upstairs was a little bit hot even with the air conditioner running in the next room but it was an unusually hot week while we were there. The main floor air conditioner was not working but the owner handled it very quickly and we had a new unit installed by the next day. They are very responsive to emails. Service is excellent.

The television room is located upstairs beside the bedroom and there is no cable service. Fortunately, we came prepared for that. I imagine they didn't want to distract from the view by placing the television in main floor living room. The living room is very comfortable and tastefully decorated.

The Blumen Restaurant is quite nearby (a very short drive or bike ride) and we had a lovely meal there one evening. Downtown Picton is also a very short drive or bike ride away. Miss Lily's cafe is handy for good coffee and pastries and it's open early. There was also a park just down the street which was handy for walking our dog.

We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed using the cottage space. We actually spent more time than expected in the backyard since it was very functional and the view overlooking the water was fabulous. We would definitely like to stay again for our next holiday.

Perfect location in the heart of Picton with a beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

This is my second time staying at this lovely property and I enjoyed it as much, if not more than the first time! It has gorgeous views of Picton Bay, with areas to sit out and watch the boats pass by. There is a great back deck for BBQing and overall the home is beautifully maintained, with a very well-appointed kitchen. The owner is highly responsive and the logistics for arrival and departure are seamless. What makes this property particularly unique is that it feels in many respects like a cottage in the country, with stunning water views, but you’re right in the heart of Picton, just a short walk to the shops and restaurants. We have a 2-year old and it was also only a 10-minute stroll to a fabulous playground by Crystal Palace. I highly recommend this home for your next PEC vacation!

Best Spot in Town

  • 5 of 5

This adorable, quaint cottage has it all! The view is one of the best in town and the location is great! Just a short walk to the main shopping area of Picton. We know the area well and this spot is a gem. Sitting out on the back deck overlooking the harbor is magic. The cottage was spotless when we arrived and if you aren't familiar with the area the owner has put together a comprehensive list of things to do, places to eat etc. Our highlights were lunch at the County Cider Company, ice cream at Slickers, lunch at the Saylor Cafe, fabulous beach days at Sandbanks, great finds at the awesome second hand clothing stores in Wellington and Picton, the Mustang drive-in, all the amazing art studios in Picton, Wellington and Bloomfield and one of the funnest nights we've had in ages listening to live music at the Acoustic Guitar. The county has so much to do and this is a great little spot to call home while you enjoy all of the amazing sights to see!
