Enjoy an unique, very private water-front setting in a small and cozy chalet, twenty-five feet from the water's edge.
This property is a virtual wildlife setting; a portion of Petit Manan Refuge is just around Jetteau Point The cottage enjoys beautiful views to the Sally Islands and open ocean on Gouldsboro Bay.
From the deck you can enjoy close observation of grey heron, bald eagles, gulls, loon and numerous other waterfowl. Listen to the seals croak in the deadness of the still night as the full moon rises over the bay. When the winds and waves predict, fall sleep to the sound of water washing up on shore, virtually under your ears.
The cottage is simple, with two full baths with shower, one up and one down. It has an adequate kitchen, comfortable queen-size bed up, pull-out couch or futon down. Cottage has been recently remodeled with Russian pine floors up and antique maple wood floors downstairs. This cottage is idea for a couple or small family.
Owner has adjacent dwelling on property which is occupied seasonally by owner and his veteran cat.

After spending summers in Maine since 1977 , working The Windjammers and yachting for many years, I found this area of Maine to be unique. Away from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist areas, but within a short car or ferry trip to Bar Harbor I finally found my true coastal piece of Maine. Purchased in 2002, I have spent summers remodeling the cottage and enjoying the true Maine.

Lovely Cottage, Beautiful, Quiet Location
This cottage was perfect for our family of four. Located in a private setting, literally on the water's edge (hence the name), the cottage offered cozy accommodations away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, yet conveniently located for easy access to Schoodic Peninsula, Mt. Desert Island, and many other local attractions. Scott, the owner, was extraordinarily kind and helpful, offering great suggestions on places to visit and restaurants to try. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a wifi router in the cottage. The router was located in the outbuilding next door, so the signal in the cottage was iffy at best. Still, all things considered, it was only a minor inconvenience. We would definitely stay here in the future, and would happily recommend it to others.
Thank you for the kind review , shall move the router soon thanks
Great relaxing vacation in Maine
This was our first trip to Maine and we loved it! The A-frame cabin has everything you need for a great stay. Clean, comfortable bed, and great views. Sunrises are spectacular. Kitchen is well equipped and everything is there to prepare whole Maine lobster or any other meal of your choice. This is for guests who appreciate the great outdoors and want to get away from the city. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are less than an hour away. Local lobster fisherman work their traps in front of the cabin, and you can purchase live lobsters from local fishermen for $5.25-$9.00 a pound. Twelve foot tides change the scenery everyday. We plan to return again next year. Scott is helpful and knowledgeable of the area. He can share more ideas of what to see and do than what you can accomplish in one week.
Best Family Vacation Ever!!!
This was the best vacation our family has ever had. We are from Michigan and took the one and a half day trip to get to Gouldsboro, Maine. We were so excited when we walked into the cute (and very clean) A-frame with its fantastic views of the harbor. Right away, my husband and the kids went down to explore the coast line. There was so much privacy and solitude there....we knew we chose the right spot almost immediately. Scott, the owner, was there to greet us when we arrived. He was helpful in giving us suggestions for the best places to visit and to eat. A couple places he suggested were the Pickled Wrinkle and Tracey's Lobsters and Clams. Both were great, and we actually bought fresh lobster to bring back to the house at Tracey's, and Scott taught us how to steam lobsters and clams (he provided the clams), and we roasted corn on the grill. This was by far our best meal of the week, and so much fun! Scot also joined us for our bonfires at night, and always came with a bottle of wine to share!! We are so glad we stayed at the Schoonic Peninsula side of Acadia. We were able to discover so many neat places, that we're off the beaten path, likely Tidal Falls Preservatory, The Granite Garden Gallery, Fort Knox and Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory, and lots of little fishing towns. Of course, we also visited Bar Harbor and the busy side of Acadia on several days, but we were always happy to be able to return in the evenings to The cozy A-frame that we called home for a week. Thank you Scott for a vacation we will always remember...it was the best!
A slice of heaven in Maine
The difference between a good vacation and an outstanding vacation is always related to the provider. Anyone can offer a cabin by the water. But a helpful, kind and knowledgeable owner will transform that cabin into the experience of a lifetime. This is exactly why we are giving Scott and his A-frame cabin a 5-star rating. The cabin by itself is spectacular.....a charming, well-cared-for cabin located on a picturesque knoll overlooking the water. But Scott's 30-years of experience on the coast of Maine makes this rental better than any other. Scott will show you where to find the best food, the best hiking, the places for sightseeing, the best shopping, the best outdoor adventure....all of those things that are known only to long-term locals. And for us, Scott's knowledge and guidance, plus the quiet relaxation of nice cabin in a wonderful location, turned our vacation into a little slice of heaven in Maine.
Relaxing, Refreshing and Rewarding
We just finished a week at this delightful location. The listing and photos are very accurate - what they don't capture until you experience it is the quiet solitude and relaxed feeling that overcomes you. The house was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 young children), and was in very good condition and very clean. The owner, Scott, is a great host and very informative about local attractions, restaurants, and any other necessary information. We would DEFINITELY recommend this property to a relative or friend.
As the description reads, the location is serene, but not far from the "action" of Acadia/Bar Harbor. We spent our time in a mix of activities - some in the park, some in local lakes (ask Scott for ideas), and some in the tourist areas. No matter what, we always had this beautiful, quiet location to come home to (on the days we left the house!).
Thank you, Scott, for a great vacation location.
we recently spent a week at the A-frame, and we really enjoyed, it was so relaxing and quiet. We spent most of our time sitting on the deck, reading, watching the water and wild life. We really didn't want to leave. The owner Scott is great and very helpful, he even told us where to stop for groceries on our way.
We are going to try and go back next year, if at all possible.
