Footprint on the Marsh has become a cherished retreat for our family. It is always a quiet and laid back atmosphere where you can relax and spend quality time with loved ones. Our neighbors on both sides are year-round residents so you never have to worry about loud house parties. The interior of our home is an open floor plan with 2 story ceilings with lots of windows letting in the sun, and making it bright and cheery. The kitchen is open to the great room so no one ever feels left out while working in the kitchen. There is also a lot of kitchen counter space so several people can help with food prep.
The outdoor areas of our home are our favorites. The porches and sundeck on the front of our home overlook the marsh and are great places to enjoy both day and night. The sundeck is great for sunbathing during the day; the covered porches are great places to enjoy being outdoors without sun exposure. With the table and chairs on the upper porch you can enjoy meals and/or lounging with a few drinks while watching the sun set over the marsh in the evenings. The sundeck is also a great place to stargaze at night!
The deck on the back of the house overlooks the canal. We have 4 large rocking chairs there and enjoy watching birds 'fishing' in the canal. The ground level patio is right at the canal and has a picnic bench; great for waterfront dining.
Our floating dock on the canal is a great place to do a little fishing and/or crabbing. The dock will accommodate up to a 28 ft. boat.

About the owner: We're an extended family, consisting of our mother, two grown brothers, our wives and our children. My wife, Melissa manages the beach house for our family. We've owned a number of homes on Holden Beach over the years and so our children have grown up enjoying many trips here. The kids (all girls) are all recent college graduates now, but have loved Holden Beach no matter what their age. Our family enjoys trips to Holden Beach year round. The girls and now their significant others, prefer the warm spring and summer months and prefer stay in or by the water the majority of the time. Over the years we've appreciated how safe Holden Beach is; when the girls were young, pre-teens, it was such a great feeling being able to allow them to walk or ride bikes by themselves to buy ice cream or explore the island. In past years our parents always enjoyed the quiet, no crowds off season and many years would spend several of the off season months enjoying the slow pace and often times warm temperatures and sunshine. My brother and I and our wives also enjoy it year-round. When the water is too cool to play in, we get out the boat and go fishing,.... and/or there's always golf for us guys, and thrift & antique store shopping for our wives!
Why the Owner Chose Holden Beach, NC, USA:
When our family was first interested in purchasing a beach vacation home 22 years ago, Holden Beach was recommended to us by several friends. We decided to spend a weekend there; after that trip, we were hooked. It's more than just a great beach; the island itself is a great escape from the 'real world' with very little commercial development, no hotels, resorts or large or high-rise condos. While there have been many more homes built on the island since we first found Holden Beach twenty-two years ago, the island has not lost the feeling of being an 'escape', the lifestyle is still slow-pace and the island still has a lot of natural areas to enjoy. Besides the great beaches, there are two great inlets at each end of the island where you can fish, hike, sunbathe, etc., several large marshes throughout the island with lots of wildlife, and other beautiful natural areas full of wildlife on the island best gotten to by boat or kayak.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Over the years we've owned several different homes on the island, this our present home is our favorite as for us it has it all.... a short walk to the beach, a canal with our own private dock for quick boat (or kayak) access to the ICW (Inter Coastal Waterway), awesome views of the marsh (especially at sunset!)from 2 porches and a sundeck, and a short walk to the end of our street to a town park area for picnics, fishing, etc. overlooking the ICW. There's also a nice hiking trail off our street between the marsh and the ICW. Additionally, our street is a great place for the family to ride bikes, it is a very quiet, safe street.
