Casa De Las Montanas is a truly charming & glamorous townhome w/ vintage appeal in a quiet location. It is a very special place with all kinds of character and great views. The home has just been renovated, is 5 minutes from downtown and convenient to the University of Arizona, but is quiet and private and boasts amazing mountain and desert views. This is a secure and light filled home, with a delightful courtyard with a covered patio. It is not a cookie-cutter, beige box. It has been furnished with a welcoming mix of antiques and art to create a beautiful atmosphere. You are right near downtown, but are on the edge of the Tucson Mountains. Located in a charming neighborhood and a piece of tucson history, it is just west of the downtown area and only a matter of minutes to the Saguaro National Park West. A wide range of great restaurants and shops are on your doorstep, but there is still a sense of space.
The casa has 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with high standard cooking equipment, granite counters and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. The open plan kitchen looks out to the dining area that can seat 8 or more, and the charming, working kiva fireplace. Sliding glass doors lead from the dining area out to the covered patio and enclosed courtyard, encouraging indoor/outdoor living. A unique gated bell tower leads you into the courtyard from the street. You will find the courtyard with its 100 year old saguaro cacti and prickly pear cacti and original mexican saulsolito tiles, is a wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee, evening margarita or gaze at the star filled night skies.
The bedrooms boast brand new memory foam topped mattresses, fine 100% cotton sheets and lovely furnishings. The master contains a queen and has an en suite bathroom with travertine tiles and plush towels. The guest bedroom has a queen bed and a sweet view of the courtyard, and a travertine tiled bathroom, with a washer/dryer across the hall. The third bedroom has an iron cottage bed with a pull out, pop-up trundle that can be used as two twins or combined together for a king. A writing desk with an absolutely beautiful view to the west of open desert and mountains is a great place to admire the stunning sunsets.
Imagination, style and flare have been used throughout to make our home stand out from the run of the mill, hotel-like settings you find in so much of the Tucson vacation rental market. We independently own and manage the casa, you will not be dealing with an impersonal management company. We have travelled widely and work hard to make sure that all the little details we appreciate in a rental, are available for our guests. We take pride in the place and have many repeat guests, so we must be doing something right! Broadband wireless and a flat screen HDTV with local and network channels and live streaming Netflix is included. Central air conditioning and tile floors in the main living spaces, will keep you cool and comfy in summer and central heat and the working fireplace will keep you toasty in winter, during our few months when a little heat may be needed. A garage with garage door opener is available and of course there is a gas grill, so you can barbeque in the courtyard. The house is all on one level and has no steps so it is suitable for all.
There are so many activities on your doorstep. Great golfing, hiking, cultural activities, shopping and dining are all right nearby. There are walking trails through the desert, right across the street. We may be biased, but we think our location is amongst the best in tucson!
We have stayed in many different places when visiting Tucson over the last 5 years. This property is very well situated to access the freeway, downtown area or the U of A campus. The house and grounds are very clean and livable. We will certainly want to stay here again when we come back to visit beautiful Tucson.
My husband and I stayed in Casa de las Montanas for 8 days in April, during our first visit to Tucson.
We were not disappointed when we arrived for our stay. The townhouse was just as described on the website. It was clean, spacious, bright and airy and thoughtfully furnished with many pieces of furniture in the south western style. The furnishings complimented the style of the townhouse. As well, the kitchen was well equipped.
We particularly enjoyed the peaceful outdoor area with its views. We ate breakfasts and several suppers there and also enjoyed the company of the many birds who live on and around the property.
The townhouse was well located for the airport, and for shopping, as well as all the other places of interest we wanted to visit.
For interested coffee lovers, we discovered "Raging Sage" on N. Campbell Avenue in Tucson. An intimate coffee house with a small patio with orange trees. Great coffee and very, very, good baked goods.
All in all, we recommend Casa De La Montanas as an exceedingly comfortable place to stay when visiting Tucson.
Two of us couples needed to escape midwest frigid temps and snowfall, chose to meet in Tucson and chose to rent a house together. We loved this beautiful casa, found it to be accurate in description, clean upon arrival, beautiful location in an already fantastic town, and a very well-stocked kitchen, implement-wise. We four used the kitchen often. We all agreed about the very comfortable beds, too. We found the friendly owner easy to work with as she and I talked details through several emails. We usually enjoy the east side with its wonderful Sabino Canyon, but this casa was instead close to all the west side places of beauty - Saguaro Monument West, Desert Museum, Tucson Mountain hiking, Kitt Peak, and more. If you do still go to Sabino Canyon on the east side, start out earlier than you think as its parking lot fills up fast during snowbird season. Some favorite places we enjoy in Tucson no matter on which side of town we stay. We always visit Pima County Air Museum, radio-control airplane flying field way on east side on Valencia, Bookman's (secondhand books, jigsaw puzzles, games, musical instruments, etc.) on Speedway in Monterey Village. If you just want to relax, this casa has a beautiful covered patio. Yes, we recommend staying here.
We are hikers and this home decorated with southwestern flair was a great location for easy access to dessert hiking in Saguaro West National Park or we could stay at home and appreciate dessert flora in the privacy of our own courtyard and patio. The house is in a small tasteful development, but there is a feeling of seclusion. It is also within minutes of the Santa Cruz River trail for miles of easy walking and biking. The Tucson Dessert Museum is also nearby. It is easy to find stores, fresh produce and restaurants. The description of the location, house and amenities is accurate and we felt right at home. The friendly owner responded promptly to our questions. We definitely would recommend this property.
We needed a large place to accommodate the two of us, plus our daughter and grandson - Casa De Las Montanas came up right away in our search the year before when we were on our own.
Purely by chance, we were able to have a look around the Casa and meet the owner. That sold us then and there!
We used PayPal to readily set up the payments, and planned our visit for a year. The real thing was even better, with everything we needed and much more in the Casa. There was lots of room to spread out if we felt the need for alone time, and the dining area beside the kitchen worked very well for shared meals.
This was our third visit to Tucson, and by far the most pleasant accommodations. We had a wonderful time showing daughter and grandson our favourite activities.
The owner was very helpful with our questions, often responding in a few hours. We highly recommend the Casa if you want to enjoy Tucson and area.
Peace and quiet, yet minutes from so much to do! That describes Casa De Las Montanas to a T. We spent a week in April soaking up the sun, culture, stunning views, and the excitement of Tucson. Situated on the western side of the city, this townhouse was a quick and easy ride through the Gates Pass to both the Saguaro National Park and the Desert Museum, two places you shouldn't miss. Restaurants, grocery stores, hiking trails, golf courses, and the University of Arizona are minutes away. We would highly recommend Little Cafe Poca Cosa for lunch and the historic Arizona Inn for an al fresco cocktail to end the day. When we weren't investigating the surroundings, we relaxed in the townhouse's courtyard, a perfect place for all meals. Even when the temperatures were warm, the breeze was both cooling and surprising consistent. The interior of this home is light, meticulously clean, and delightfully appointed. We didn't lack for anything. The owners were kind enough to leave informational material to help us understand what Tucson had to offer. When we return to Tucson, this is where we will stay.
