St Patrick on the Chesapeake bay is a most beautiful home with distinctive european flair and a peaceful and private vacation destination. The beautiful 4500 square foot home is nestled amidst mature hollies, dogwoods, and pine trees, flowers and statuary, overlooking a pristine sandy beach. The property is situated on a high bluff at the mouth where the bay meets the Atlantic Ocean
The 1.5 acre manicured Mediterranean garden was artistically designed and created by the owners who moved to the shore in 1989 directly from Italy. The home is spacious and offers two large living rooms with views of the bay and enchanting garden. There are several places to contemplate nature. An amazing terrace jetting out over the high bluff is the most scenic spot to observe dolphins, sea birds and water men collecting their daily catch. The westerly views offer magical sunsets over the water. Close to a state park and the historic victorian bay front town of Cape Charles.
Meandering, mysterious paths are an invitation to follow the way to a heavenly hidden natural corner where one can truly relate with mother nature. A true oasis away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and yet so convenient to the many amenities the area offers.
The home itself is very spacious with large picture windows and cathedral ceilings. What makes this home unique and distinguished is the elegant European style noticeable in the furnishings and overall decor. As you enter the main front door you are welcomed into a very large open living room/foyer that features an imposing fireplace and French doors leading onto the picturesque deck that visually embraces the lush lawns and stunning Chesapeake Bay beyond. The outstanding green room is a feature worth highlighting as it offers a 500 sq. foot space also with fireplace and 3 absolutely charming bay windows each framing a different landscape view of the park-like garden.
From the back deck , a picturesque gold fish pond and waterfall is a soothing view to enjoy while outdoor grilling and dining. The master bedroom is furnished with museum- worthy last century Neapolitan custom made mahogany furniture and features a quaint sitting room bay window area to take in the spectacular view.
The bay front state park just a few minutes away offers numerous hiking trails, fishing pier and boat ramp. The historic Victorian bay side town of Cape Charles is 10 minutes away and offers shops, a variety of restaurants, a historic live theatre, signature gold courses, tennis and fitness center.

Family ...theirs and ours!
We reserved St. Patrick for a family gathering. The details and the previous reviews were helpful with our decision. The home would accommodate 14 people ages 70 to 3. Upon arrival we quickly realized that the home and property exceeded any expectations. The home is clean, well equipped and roomy. The yard is lined with paths leading to 2 decks overlooking Chesapeake Bay. Both home, yard and deck are accessible for someone with some mobility challenges. The weather was chilly but that did not stop us from descending the stairs to enjoy walking the shoreline. The hosts were prompts with responses and invited us to Lemon Tree Gallery in Cape Charles for Friday FUN. Cape Charles is about 10 miles away but well worth the drive for dinner, art and souvenirs.
We hope to return to St. Patrick!
Beautiful location, watching sunsets is amazing! Owner very accommodating, excellent stay.
Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure having you at our home. Please come back and stay with us again.
Beautiful setting, gorgeous gardens, and a magnificent house.
We had a wonderful time. Long walks on the beach in the beach and lotws of game time by the fire.
We truly appreciate the feedback and we are very happy that our home offered the warmth and hospitality that you were looking for. Thank you for choosing our home for your family winter vacation!! We look forward to your next future visit.
This is our 8th seasonal getaway with four families of college friends. We had a wonderful stay at this lovely beachfront home with it's panoramic view of the bay & bridge tunnel and convenience to the state park. We all enjoyed the deck right off the kitchen and lovely garden surroundings. A few minimal hiccups were the fruit flies and a soft bed. All rooms were nicely appointed and the kids enjoyed the bunk bed room with an escape door. Luisa and Clelia were pleasant to work with and responsive. Thank you.
Amazing family friendly vacation spot!
We stayed in this beautiful house with 2 other families, 6 small children and 6 adults. The space was perfect, lots of space to spread out, plenty of bedrooms. Kids loved the bunks! Great kitchen area and we shared many meals around the large dining room table. The outside space cannot be beat. Loved coffee on the multiple decks and sunsets were outstanding! We grilled dinner most nights and enjoyed sitting outside well into the evening. The private beach cannot be beat. The waves were gentle enough for our little ones and we enjoyed several days of perfect beach time. The large lawn was also nice and shady and we enjoyed corn hole, croquet and many games of soccer. The kids loved the pond and gardens for exploring. The only reason to leave this house is to replenish supplies!
We did make it to town which is super cute and also on a kayaking trip which was beautiful, through southeast expeditions, which I highly recommend. Louisa and family were delightful hosts, right next dooor should you need anything.
Week already booked for next summer!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review.
Clelia and I very much appreciate this and we are very glad when our guests are happy and they have a memorable vacation. This is a family home and we take extra care to maintain it and keep it in top notch condition.
We look forward to your return next Summer!
The house is in a beautiful area and nicely setup for a quiet vacation. We really enjoyed the gardens and the areas to sit and see the sunsets. The house has a nice library and had enough space for there to be quiet time. Another nice part was being close to the park it was easy to just rent kayaks at the park and to go hiking there. I would recommend using those kayak over trying to rent them from town. The park is well done with lots of great hiking trails.
The Eastern Shore of Virginia is surrounded by water. On the east by the Altantic Ocean and on the west by the Chesapeake bay. It is connected to the rest of Virginia by the famous 17 mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
Most people are attracted to the rural flavour and the slower pace and the friendly people. The nature is unspoiled and very scenic. The bay side is the perfect place for the many recreational activities such as boating, swimming, clamming and fishing. For the golf lover Cape Charles is home of two state of the aret signature golf courses- the Arnold Palmer and the Jack Nicklaus course.
