Welcome to Kiwassa Lodge, the perfect place to get away from it all. Kiwassa Lodge is an 1,800 square foot year round waterfront home nestled on over two acres of woods in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. With over 300 feet of waterfront, it is located on secluded Kiwassa Lake which is just two miles outside the village of Saranac Lake and 12 miles from Lake Placid. This retreat offers the best of both worlds. Relax in a private, serene wooded setting on the water, or take advantage of all the activities the area has to offer. The Lodge is an ideal, one-of-kind four season rental.

In the summer, swimming, boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, and hiking are all popular activities. A canoe is provided for your use, and motor boats can be rented at a nearby marina. Kiwassa Lake is connected to the picturesque Saranac Lake chain of lakes which are 25 miles long and well worth exploring. The property's extensive waterfront includes two private docks, a boathouse and sandy beach area. The water is crystal clear with a sandy bottom and shallow area that is perfect for young swimmers.

Saranac Lake is a charming village with many amenities and Lake Placid is just a short drive or train ride away. There you can visit all the winter Olympic sights, or enjoy the fabulous shopping and dining in this quaint Adirondack village. For winter enthusiasts, Whiteface Mountain offers some of the best skiing in the east and Mt. Van Hoevenberg provides miles of cross country ski trails.

When you return to the lodge, you can relax in the six person steam room, build a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace in the great room, or build a bonfire in the outdoor fireplace near the water. There is a large deck overlooking the water for your relaxing pleasure as well. The house is neat and clean, and the kitchen is updated and fully equipped. There are four bedrooms and three full baths. Once you visit, we're sure you'll want to come back. We look forward to having you as our guests.

Classic cabin on a beautiful lake

  • 5 of 5

Four of us spent a week at Kiwassa Lodge, and all of us had a delightful time. We never felt cramped, as there are plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the communal spaces are roomy. The kitchen is well equipped--there is a Viking range, Subzero refrigerator and a dishwasher! The fireplace looks cozy and inviting, but we didn't use it. There is an outdoor fireplace that looks recently rebuilt. We built a fire there one evening and it was quite pleasant.

We spent most days hanging out on the dock and swimming; we also did some hiking, canoeing and sailing. The water was lovely--clean and refreshing. We had two very minor problems (a bothersome yellow jacket nest and a short power outage) and the homeowners responded to our calls immediately. The nest was taken care of within hours, which we appreciated.

We hope to come back in the near future. We would highly recommend this rental.

Kiwassa Lodge Adventure

  • 5 of 5

This is the third year our group 10 women have spent a most enjoyable long weekend at the the Lodge. Located on Kiwassa Lake, it is far enough in the woods for that Adirondack smell and feel, quiet of the lake and call of the loon. Yet, it is close enough to Saranac Lake village and Lake Placid to enjoy the resturants and shopping.

The Lodge is clean, comfortable and spacious for all 10 of us women with 3 bathrooms and a steam room. It has a well-applianced kitchen with a large gas stove and as well as a dishwasher!! Situated on the lake shore, it is an enjoyable paddle to Saranac Lk village or thru the channels to the island-studded Lower Saranac Lake.

There is plenty of yard plus deck to enjoy the outdoors as well as a wonderful view of the lake and surrounding hills. The area is an outdoors paradise waiting for all to enjoy: besides using the lake, there's tons of hiking, the "Wild Center in Tupper Lake is great. We spent several hours at the Adirondack Museum and could have spent more...fascinating and lovely.

We never tire of the Lodge and surrounding area and plan to continue staying at the Lodge for our yearly adventure! We would certainly recommend the Lodge to friends and family. We had only a minor problem in the 3 years of our stays and we received excellent service and support.
