About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Come stay at our Mt. Crested Butte home for a true Rocky Mountain adventure during any season! Crested Butte is a pristine, historic mountain town surrounded by breathtaking alpine views in every direction. The ski area is world famous for both extreme steeps as well as plenty of terrain for beginners and intermediates. Avoid the lines at most other Colorado ski areas by skiing here! The town has many great restaurants and shopping opportunities, all with a very casual atmosphere.

Cross-country skiing in the winter, and hiking, camping, biking and wild-life viewing opportunities also abound here! Use our home as a base-camp for unlimited adventures! The ski lifts are a short walk from our front door, and a free bus is available to the lifts and to town. Bedrooms include a queen bed in one and a bunk-bed in the other with a double (full) bed on the bottom. Extra twin futon also available on request.

About Martha J Griffin

My husband and I have spent most of our lives in Colorado, enjoying lots of time in the mountains. We feel rejuvenated from skiing, hiking, mountain biking and just hanging out on our porch in Mt. Crested Butte. Our kids have grown to love all of these activities as well as fly fishing in the rivers.

Martha J Griffin purchased this house in 2003

Why Martha J Griffin chose Crested Butte Area

We chose Mt. Crested Butte for our vacation home because the skiing is superior to anything we have experienced in Colorado. Crested Butte is off the beaten path so it is an especially pristine location. We bought it mostly to enjoy the skiing, but have discovered that we love it in summer as well. The hiking and mountin biking trails are abundant and full of wild flowers. There are many fantastic restaurants and most are priced reasonably.

What makes this house unique

Our house is clean and cozy. It is in a neighborhood with many full time residents and a welcoming feeling. In summer, the hummingbirds visit the flowers in the garden. In winter, the snow in the yard gets very deep, great for making snow forts! We have a stash of toys, games, books and puzzles for kids of all ages.

Great house and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Great little house. Responsive and easy to work with owner. Clean upon arrival. Everything worked. Nice big washer and dryer. Paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies stocked. Very comfortable beds. The bus stop is less than two minute walk. The view -- it's beautiful! You can sit on the porch and see the snow capped mountains and look out over a field of wildflowers. Central heat and A/C. Appliances work well and everything in nice condition.

Nit picky items:

No coffee table -- we used a plastic bin because there isn't any place to set a cup of coffee, etc while sitting on couch or chair.

One upstairs bathroom is more difficult with four people than I expected

The cable is basic. And by basic I mean more basic than I thought possible. I watch very little tv on vacation or sometimes none. I do like to turn on CNN and ESPN to catch up on occasion though. No cable news channels, no ESPN at all.

Awesome little yellow house!

  • 5 of 5

This little yellow house was perfect for our little family for a long weekend of skiing! Martha was very accommodating even letting us stay an extra night free because we were snowed in as all the passes were closed to return to Denver. You can see the lifts from the house. Easy location to get to bus stop for skiing or heading in to my favorite town CB! Hopefully we will be staying again soon! Thank you!

Couldn't Have Hoped for Anything More!!!

  • 5 of 5

Months after our Summer trip to Crested Butte, we're still raving about this awesome home! The neighborhood nestled between the mountain and downtown offered the perfect location for daily hikes and mountain bike rides followed by evening strolls and dinner in town. From the moment we pulled up, we were at home - everything incredibly clean, inviting, and comfortable; plenty of space; bright rooms full of windows further bringing the outdoors in; and a front porch offering views all around. The owners were so kind and helpful with any questions we might have had, and we could not be more thankful for them sharing their beautiful home with us! Needless to say, we weren't ready to leave...but hopefully, we'll enjoy another stay here soon!

Nice Place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay, very nice, cute little house. It would have been nice if the check in time was earlier and the check out a little later, but other than that we had a great time...Crested Butte is beautiful!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Crested Butte and at our house. If asked, I offer early check in or late check out, when possible. You happened to be there during a time when someone was leaving the day you arrived and someone was coming in the day you left. For my cleaner to do a great job, I can't change the check in and check out times, in those situations. Crested Butte is very popular in the summer! Thanks for visiting!

Wonderful, bright, sunny house in quiet neighborhood - perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 absolutely loved this perfect little house! It is very cheery and had everything we needed. I liked that it is up-to-date and had great high ceilings and tall windows. It's a small house but feels much bigger than your average 2BR condo, with the advantage of being in your own separate space in a real neighborhood. We loved the front porch, the cows grazing through the pasture across the street, the easy access to all parts of CB, and the quiet in the neighborhood both during the day and at night. The owners were great to work with. We were so sad to leave!

Just like home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two kids and myself loved having a home away from home during our stay in Crested Butte. Thank you for the wonderful place; it was super clean, had the basics we needed, and was a great little treasure in the mountains!
