About Brigitte Ambrose
Our family moved to Woodstock from Chicago in 2007, drawn by Woodstock's beauty and depth of culture in a small town setting.
Brigitte Ambrose purchased this Barn in 2011
Why Brigitte Ambrose chose South Woodstock
An historic home and barn in a quaint village setting was very attractive to us. Our teenage daughters truly enjoy the Kedron Pond just a short walk from out property, spending much of their spare time there in the summers!
What makes this Barn unique
The best of both worlds - a quaint village setting with nature surrounding us. The stream, back meadows and forest and trail system across our small bridge, are magical.

A delightful time away
An absolutely beautiful getaway.
The owners have very carefully resorted the building in a way that retains both much character of a late 1800's structure (broad fir flooring on the first floor, a rough wood barn-floored loft area for sleeping in addition to two first floor bedrooms) and modern function (contemporary thermal insulation, a kitchen with good quality modern appliances, not just a minimum). Our own home is a mid 1840's structure that has undergone a good deal of renovation that to address such issues, so we have a sense of the effort that's been made here.
Outside, the deck overlooking a small brook and hillocks provides a beautiful view for reading or resting.
The hosts are quite friendly, detail-oriented and responsive (lists of how to manage the usual questions and local area resources) without being obtrusive to guests.
We would most definitely return.
Peaceful & Convenient
This barn home is cozy with beautiful finishes and a deck overlooking a river. Our kids, ages 12 & 10, enjoyed sleeping up in the loft. We had a great long weekend!
Peaceful South Woodstock retreat
Our family enjoyed the renovated barn and location. With ease of walking to the country store, creek , or pond and a short drive to Woodstock and Quechee, we had a wonderful long weekend in Vermont.
A beautiful stay!
The barn was picturesque - a gorgeous property in a lovely little town. We enjoyed the barn itself tremendously and also loved being able to walk to the country store and the inn down the street, and then the short drive to Woodstock. We would be thrilled to return!
Pleasant stay at the Kingsley Barn
My family and I spent a relaxing long weekend at the Kingsley Barn. Four adults and two infants were able to comfortably enjoy the tremendous views, spacious living room and bucolic creekside seating areas. Nearby downtown Woodstock is charming, with many ways to spend a lazy afternoon.

What a real treat to stay at the Kingsley Barn! It was just as clean and beautiful as the pictures we’d seen! It was the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. Sitting by the stream, listening to it lull you to sleep at night, enjoying the warmth from the fire pit, being able to walk to get meals to exploring and hiking at your finger tips! We loved watching our kids tube down the stream and to be surrounded by such beautiful landscapes! The barn was cozy and our hosts were gracious and helpful. My kids asked when can we go back! Thank you for some unforgettable family memories!
