House, 5 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 9)
This early 1900’s era home is situated on a private road, just 400 yards from the private beach. The house, which sits on over an acre of wooded land is spacious with the charm of yesteryear. The area is full of quintessential New England character, with all of the homes shingled and weathered in the traditional style. The private beach on Nantucket Sound is rated one of the best bathing beaches on all of Cape Cod. Water is warm and usually calm, providing perfect swimming and boating conditions for all, including young children. The proximity of the beach, an Association clay tennis court, and the extensive oak pine woods ensure a diversity of at home recreational opportunities.
Evening relaxation opportunities abound. If you want to stay local: grab some fish from a nearby fish market and pints of ice cream from 4 Seas, fire up the grill, and settle in with your family on the large screened in porch or out of doors in the Adirondack chairs. Summer evenings are a pleasure as the ocean breeze wafts through the trees. Or, for the fisherman at heart, take a long walk on the beach with poles in hand and catch your dinner.
For those who want the luxury of entertainment, the nearest town, Hyannis, is just 10 minutes away and offers a wide variety of restaurants, an array of shops, mini golf, music festivals, the Cape Cod Melody Tent and an array of other summer activities. I am a fan of summer stock theater and love to attend the Cape Playhouse in Dennis. They have a movie theater which screens a lot of independent films.
If you’re looking to explore the area, consider a trip to the artist colony in Provincetown on the tip of the Cape (a 50 mile drive), a day in Boston (75 miles), or a ferry ride to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard. Plymouth Plantation (30 miles) provides an excellent opportunity for some hands on learning for both young and old. If you’re looking for physical activities, pack your bikes and head to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, or consider taking a windsurfing lesson at a nearby beach. If you’re interested in surfing, head over to the Cape Cod National Seashore (40 miles) for some big waves, but you might want to bring a wetsuit to stay warm! For the ecologically minded, the Museum of Natural History in Brewster provides great marsh hiking and birding.
Get ready to escape your daily grind–the only suit you need here is your bathing suit, switch from the board room to board games. Break out the beach towels. Bring a good book for the beach. It’s truly a wonderful vacation spot.

This one house has provided vacation pleasure for four generations of my family. I hardly need to say more about the location! I now reside in Philadelphia where I am a CEO and Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. My 'mate' and I love the late summer month and long weekends we spend there. It is the summertime 'grand central' where our children and grandchildren gather to have a fabulous time reconnecting with one another. This beach and these woods have provided the backdrop for entertainment for us for decades.

Loved our stay
We stayed at this property with our extended family. The house was very comfortable. It has lovely antiques and lots of old books. I enjoyed reading old children's story books that I read as a child to my granddaughter. It is shabby chic with older bathrooms and kitchen, feeling like a cape cod vacation that one experienced as a child. The property was very clean with new sheets and towels and an outside grill.
There are many areas to congregate or just to escape for alone time, such as a large screened in porch, good size living room, and outside area with chairs.
It's a short walk to the private beach so you can go back and forth to the house easily. This was great with children.
A short drive to the lovely town of Osterville with great shops and restaurants and very close to one of the best ice cream places on the cape--4 Seas.
Overall a great experience. I would go back.
Well, the good things about the house is it really is very close to the private beach. The breeze is really cool enough to not need any air conditioners. But the bathroom started leaking on the second day we were there into the kitchen ceiling and so we were down one bathroom. The bathrooms had really old sinks, I mean who uses separate nozzles for hot and cold water? There were bugs in the ceilings and although they don't bite, it was a little disturbing for me. The bathrooms had either a tub or a shower, not both together which was a little inconvenient. I wouldn't recommend for toddlers because there were quite a few steps here and there. The furniture was a little old but overall it was a nice, cozy place for vacation. All the amenities were already there so we didn't really have to use much of what we brought. But it was great to have all my family in one house and we got to bond over the weekend.
