The property is located just across the Long Bridge from Sandpoint on a tree-studded lot that slopes gently from Lakeshore Drive to the lake. The trees are old growth cedars and Tamarack pines. There is 150 feet of lake front including a dock, sandy beach, and a fire pit. The low-sloping lake bottom provides for shallow water near the beach that warms up nicely in the summer. The temperature of the water is much warmer than the deep areas of the lake and the bottom is small pebbles rather than mud but best of all, no milfoil infestation!
The main house is a recently remodeled three bedroom, three bathroom home set up to provide privacy while promoting interaction. Two of the bedrooms are suites (private bathrooms) with separate entrances. The great room includes an open-beam living room with a large stone fireplace, a spacious dining area with a large, family-style table, and an open kitchen.
There is a large surrounding deck to enjoy the unsurpassed views of Sandpoint's night light reflection glimmering on the water. The sunsets and mountain views are fabulous.
A laundry room rounds out the attention to convenience.
The kitchen is well supplied with dishes and settings for 8-10 people.
A bunkhouse-style cabin for the kids is just a few feet from the main house. It is available by arrangement.
We especially enjoy the beach. It is a joy to sit around a fire in the bonfire pit and gaze across the water at the beautiful small town of Sandpoint with Schwitzer ski mountain as a picturesque backdrop. This view is also extraordinary in the early morning hours when the birds are fishing! This is a gest way to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
A walk or jog across the Long Bridge into town is an early morning or evening treat.
Off-street parking is abundant.
By arrangement, other dwellings on adjacent property can be made available individually or as a family compound or corporate retreat.

I am originally from Wisconsin and my husband is from Arizona. We purchased the property as a family gathering place and anticipate retiring here. We have lived in a number of areas including, San Diego, Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area. We love the outdoors and the water. We fell in love with this property because it offers so much of what we enjoy. It is always hard to leave but so wonderful to look forward to.
My favorite thing to do is grab a morning beverage and head out on the deck or dock and just take in as much in as I can absorb. This is our get-away. The house remodeled and very comfortable with plenty of supplies.
Mike Sterling purchased this house in 2004
This property is only about a two miles from Sandpoint, with all that lovely town has to offer. We acquired the property to host gatherings of family and friends and future retirement. Both winter and summer activities are near, so it has become a base for year round enjoyment. All who visit it have had a wonderful stay and take away fond memories. Our family is involved in numerous weddings in other states this summer and have decided to offer our vacation home to others. We look forward to answering any questions and supplying additional pictures.
Our place is unique in that it is on the water, spacious, lends itself to communal living and yet offers privacy from the public and among guests, as well. Early morning drives, bike rides, hikes, or lazy strolls can be habit-forming given the fresh mountain air, beautiful vistas and abundant wild life surrounding the area. The place will easily accommodate large fun-loving groups or small, intimate families. 2 Master suites one with kitchenette, private decks.
Our extended family with ages 2-87 (just like the earlier family!) had a wonderful 6 night stay. Although the weather was not very nice there was plenty of room inside for us to hang out and share meals and play games. We were disappointed to not get to have a campfire, but did enjoy playing in the sand.We also rented the bunkhouse and studio and that allowed us to have some privacy too. Enjoyed the TV to watch the Olympics and the WiFi worked terrifically for all our techie family members. Wonderful meals were cooked in the well stocked kitchen. Also enjoyed a meal at the Lodge next door. Very convenient to Sandpoint, even rode bikes across the bridge. Lots to do in town. Went to the Bonner County Fair. Beautiful views, excellent locations. Remodeled bathrooms were great.
We would recommend this place for any size family. Hope we get to come back some day!
We rented this property as a place to invite our family over the 4th of July week. It is located close to Sandpoint but it is still very private. Even though you can see the long bridge from the property, the sound of vehicles was very quiet and really not even noticed. The property has a lot of space for family to spread out and a good balance of shade and sun. The beach is perfect. The kids had a great time on the diving board and the shore is gentle enough for a toddler. The weather was partly rainy during our week there, but the main house was quite roomy and we never felt cramped for space. Our family ranged in age from 2-87 and all enjoyed! We stayed there the night of the 4th and you can see the Fireworks from town quite well. Another Plus! We would definitely recommend this for your family vacation!
We have a large extended family - a dozen siblings and more than 40 grandkids. For the past three years a half dozen of us gather with our kids at this piece of paradise. Others come up for a few days if they can and stay at the lodge next door. (how convenient is that) We rent the big house, the cottage, the bunkhouses and the "love shack" if available. We have never been disappointed. The rustic setting fits us well, the accommodations are perfect and location can't be beat. We build a big puzzle on the deck, play poker at night around the big kitchen table, sing at the campfire, cook big meals, swim, boat and relax. We are close enough to town for people to get away, close to the long bridge for early morning walks and runs and each year we end our trip figuring out which week we want to come back next summer.
This property is a real gem, right near the heart of Sandpoint. A very private and rustic setting that gave a real feel of the area and it's history. This property offers privacy from all sides, even lakeside as the main house is tucked up into the trees. For our 2 families (4 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 17-22), we rented the main house and the bunkhouse for the 3 boys, which ended up offering tons of personal space. The kitchen was well appointed and there was adequate bathroom(3) space to accommodate all of us. The beach offers privacy as well and the diving board off the dock was an added bonus. This property has a lot of character and we all really enjoyed our stay.
Owner had great communication through out. Property was clean and well maintained. Goundskeeper was friendly ,professional and prompt with any concerns. The house itself fit our needs perfectly. Grounds were gorgeous. Distance to the beach from the house is minimal and easy.
Five kids ranging in age from 10-16 and they all loved every amenity. Property had extra lake "toys" that we weren't expecting, but thoroughly enjoyed.
Close enough to town to make several grocery trips.
We would stay here again, this place is beautiful
We thoroughly loved our week. What a super location in a very well thought out, clean and comfortable home. As noted earlier, the private beach, dock (with a diving board) and fire pit was the frosting on the cake. While we did some sightseeing and recommend that you do (farmers market, art galleries and restaurants in Sandpoint are recommended) we made sure to spend a lot of time on the beach. The s ’mores kit provided by the owners was put to good use – what a nice touch. We look forward to our return.
We are situated immediately next to the Lodge at Sandpoint. Our property is private but walking distance across the Long Bridge is the town of Sandpoint with all of its restaurants, bars, breweries and other attractions. For nature lovers we are a short hike from wilderness.
