Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

YES! White powdery sand beach directly behind condo. The normal rate is $174 per night. $139 is a temporary special offer based on double occupancy. Please add $9 per night per person after two. This is a true one bedroom that sleeps four comfortably. It is not one of those studios with a small bed niche that others at the complex (Pats at Punaluu) try to pass off as a one bedroom. This unit is the ground floor corner unit, the most preferred location so you can avoid lengthy elevator waits on your vacation. All visitors have agreed that this unit is absolutely the best location in the building. Luxurious upgrades include granite counter top, travertine type flooring, dishwasher and state of the art ceiling fans. It has a cherry wood sleigh King bed with pillow top mattress in the bedroom, a top of the line full size sleeper sofa, 2 single futons and even an extra full size king air mattress with pump and lots of extra linens. There is unlimited high speed internet access and Wi-Fi for your laptops. There is a full kitchen with large refrigerator, stove/oven, pots, pans, dishes and silverware, track lighting in both front and back rooms, acrylic glass set, microwave containers, knife set, patio set with cushions .....Also automatic rice cooker, 2 color TVs, Panasonic microwave, coffee maker and Kenmore washer/dryer.

You will enjoy visiting because part of the time you have the white sandy beach completely to yourself (Yes it is always safe). The area (Hauula) is on the opposite side of the island from the airport and Waikiki. About 45 minutes to an hour drive. It is not far from the Polynesian Cultural Center (about a 10 min.drive). The city bus line picks up directly in front of the unit. Sunset Beach is about 15 minutes away.

Baywatch Hawaii was filmed about 25 minutes away in Haleiwa and North Shore on FOX was filmed 20 minutes away in the same direction. 'Lost' was filmed in Waialua past Haleiwa. Foodland Supermarket is a major chain in Hawaii and has one ten minutes away. The building is eight stories high. Avoid lengthy elevator waits on your vacation. It is thirty steps to a white secluded sandy beach. The ocean is calm because of a reef 1/4 mile out which blocks the waves. It is perfect for kids to enjoy snorkeling and swimming. The building has amenities like professional Bar-b-que area, gym, swimming pool next to your unit and sunning area behind your unit. Your parking stall is included and located right in front of the unit.

This is the ground floor, corner unit. This is the preferred size and location. The unit extends from one end of the building to the other and measures approximately 850 sq. ft.

About Emmanuel Chen

I am a single father who found a way to spend alot of time with my son while making a living. I had no idea the two condos I had purchased before my son was born were zoned for vacation rentals. I believe we can make all the plans we want but the final outcome is up to God. I know many people may only visit Hawaii once in their lifetime and every minute of their time here is precious. I try to treat others as I would like to be treated.

I have gained some weight since that picture so I explain to people that I used to be a Chippendale's Dancer and now I am a Chips Ahoy Dancer! My son is a top student at the University of Hawaii and will be attending medical school when he graduates. He wants to be a top surgeon to help others....not for the moolah. In any of his endeavors he has tweaked a better way of doing things. If you stay here, thank you for helping to pay his tuition.

Emmanuel Chen purchased this condo in 1987

Why Emmanuel Chen chose Hauula

I am a realtor and brought my client to see this condo. The second I saw the ocean view I was in AWE. I told my client that if he didn't buy this place, I would. I am a man of my word but a lousy realtor. I bought more places than I sold my first year....just kidding.

What makes this condo unique

The screened-in patio is my favorite place to hang out. It feels like the whole beach belongs to you.

Great location and good people

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to a house that was still in the process of being cleaned. We went ahead and did some groceries, and came back to a clean condo... Emmanuel and Kathe(the care taker) were very responsive and apologetic, and Kathe even left us a Christmas goodies basket for the faux pas upon arrival.

The condo is ideally located, and the screened in lanai is fantastic to watch the sunrise and enjoy a cup of coffee. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, and everything works. We did not need to turn on the multiple fans Emmanuel has provided, but opening the lanai door and the front door of the unit allows a steady cool breeze through the unit. The swim gear included multiple swim boards, flippers, snorkels and goggles. Emmanuel even has some beach toys for the little ones. There is a double bed and a pull out sofa, that was comfortable for a family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 kids, a teenager and 8 year old). The beach behind the condo is small, with a bit of a drop off created by the ocean tides, but it is safe and ideal for a relaxing swim. There are plenty of other beaches nearby, and the proximity to both groceries and the Polynesian Cultural Center is a big plus. We enjoyed the pastries at Teds Bakery as well as the delicious shrimp at Giovannis food truck, both of which are close by. The drive to Honolulu is less than an hour when you need to go into town for sightseeing. All in all, we couldn't be happier with our Hawaii vacation and we had a fantastic time over the Christmas break. Emmanuel and Kathe are good folks, and we highly recommend this unit.

The location, condo, and atmosphere is the perfect vacation. My family enjoyed the time immensely. Mr Chen was great to work with and we will return. Snorkeling was great and everyday we saw sea turles. Plan your next Hawaii vacation here

The view and location makes this unit ideal!

  • 4 of 5

If you are a cost-conscious traveler this unit is for you (my girlfriend and I rented during the last week in October). Upon our arrival we found the unit clean, well-supplied with cookware, linens, and various water-sports gear. Mr. Chen also has cable and internet service. The swimming pool can be seen from the patio and can be accessed by exiting the unit and taking a 15 second walk to the pool enclosure itself. There are vinyl lounge chairs between the beach and the unit and the early morning sunrises are spectacular! The unit isn’t air conditioned but when we were there we had no need for it. I almost forgot to mention when we rented there was a maintenance man on site should any problems arise.

During our stay I had to travel into the city which necessitated a 21 mile commute but after the conference we spent most of our time touring the North Shore. We were more interested in the natural beauty of the island than in hustle and bustle of Honolulu. The Polynesian Cultural center is not too far away and the views traveling northeast, around the north peak, then down southwest shore are breathtaking.

The local restaurants served local fare (tasty) and there are other restaurants that are a bit more formal within driving distance but the dress was all the same. I don’t think I saw one guy in long pants.

The high concrete “breezeway” leading to the beach seems to be undergoing some repairs(?) but the work didn’t affect our enjoyment in the least. And anyone who has ever rented a condo or apartment near the ocean knows that the salt environment can lead to things like a bit of rust on vents and metal hardware. But again, unless you are accustomed to staying at 5-star hotels (and paying 5-star prices), those small aesthetic flaws won’t diminish your enjoyment of this unit or its views (which are truly a sight to behold).

My girlfriend and I both agreed that we would rent this unit again without question.

Tradewind Heaven

  • 4 of 5

We experienced the wonderful tradewinds during our stay. The beach outside our door was perfect, although the ocean was a bit rough because of the winds. We were able to get out of the wind, but still enjoy the fresh air and conversation on the screened lanai. The condo had everything we needed, the kitchen was well equipped and the condo was clean. The best think was the easy access to the beach where I spent most mornings with my coffee lounging on comfortable chairs. Our TV didn't work for most of our stay, but that was a minor thing since we didn't go to Oahu to watch television. A couple of comfy chairs indoors would have been nice for our evening conversations. I would definitely recommend the condo to others; thanks for sharing a slice of paradise!

loved this place.

  • 4 of 5

Everything was perfect. Our stay was from July 22nd through August 4th and every day was Paradise we loved the condo close to everything. But far away from the tourist. I would stay here every time I go back to Hawaii love the beach was so close the swimming pool was always clean. They are doing a few updates on some things just to make this place better than it already is. The beautiful flowers outside the condo was refreshing everyday would recommend this for a family of 4 but you can live 5 in here comfortably love the convenience of the washer and dryer and the detergent already provided love the convenience of dishwasher frigerator mugs in the freezer for cold beer plenty of pots pans and everything you may need to cook with. I could keep rambling on but this is a great place to rent remember there is no air conditioner and in the months of July and August it was extremely hot at night had to sleep with a fan wide-open on me. I am from South Carolina and I love air conditioner took me a week to get used to the condo without air other than that it is a great place to stay

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review this five star property. I noticed you left off a star and mentioned there was no AC. Our natural Air Conditioning is our "Trade Winds". Air conditioners are unnecessary. As a matter of fact the building restrictions included "no air conditoners" for more than 30 years. If you leave louvers open at each end of the condo (bedroom and patio) the unit is very cool.....sometimes too cool. The building is designed to catch the winds as you can see by the Louvred bedroom door. I have found that just a few louvers opened will keep the unit cool which can be confirmed by my past guests.
