Stay & Golf on the Beautiful Pend Oreille River. Call for accurate quote!!

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms and add'l Loft ( 3 queen beds), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-8)

Karin’s Bed and Golf is a charming log cabin nestled in the foothills of the Selkirk Mountains of Northeastern Washington on the Pend Oreille River and directly next to Serendipity Golf Course. Ione is located 75 miles north of Spokane and 20 miles south of British Columbia, Canada.

The river provides 50 miles of waterways between dams and is a very slow flowing river - best for waterskiing and other water sports.

It is an ideal place for golfers as rounds of golf/w cart are included in the rental fee. However, it offers much more than just golf – there is a boat dock w/ladder for swimming and boating. A canoe is tied there for your use. A private racquetball court is available for you. We have two private lakes on our property where guests may enjoy catch and release fishing.

On the deck is a private hot tub spa for your enjoyment as well as BBQ, patio furniture for entertainment.

Metaline Falls boasts its Cutter Theatre with a variety of performances. The North Pend Oreille Valley Lions Club hosts annual train rides in the summer and throughout the fall to show the beauty of the autumn colors. Gardner Caves and Boundary Dam offer visitor tours. An indoor water park is also located within 20 miles.

Great hiking paths are all around and many vista points are along the river, or you may just enjoy our wildlife from your deck – you may see Bald Eagles, Osprey, Duck, Geese, Turkey, Deer, Elk and, occasionally, Moose and Bear.

The kitchen is well equipped with all amenities of home. A loft, overlooking living space, holds 3 additional queen beds.

I am convinced that you will find great relaxation here at Karin’s Bed and Golf and will plan to return again for a visit.

This year, we added a 2 Bedroom Apartment attached to the Main House for an additional Golf rental. It features a great kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living and dining spaces, great view of the river, and BBQ on the front patio. It is great to rent as additional space for a large family group renting the Guesthouse or just for a small family alone. Rate for this apartment is lower than for the Guesthouse. See additional photos attached.

About Karin Riley

In 1984, my late husband and I decided to build a log home on the beautiful Pend Oreille River. After completing our home, we decided to build a small log house as our guesthouse. Later on, Conrad decided that he would build his own, private golf course and started the project in 1992. Unfortunately, he was not able to finish his dream as he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1996 and died shortly thereafter. My son David and I decided to finish his project and Serendipity Golf Course was completed. As a widow with a rather large Estate, I decided to offer my guesthouse as a “Bed and Golf” and called it “Conrad’s Bed & Golf. For the past 10 years, I have rented the cabin in the summer months – by word of mouth – quite regularly. I have now remarried and moved to Southern California, where my new husband, Randy and I reside, but we decided to keep my home in Ione and continue to rent the guesthouse. Now this property is our “second home”. We may decide, by next year, to offer the main house as a rental. It has an indoor swimming pool and various great vacation rental amenities.

Karin Riley purchased this house in 1986

Why Karin Riley chose Ione

Ione has a paved, well lighted, 5,000 ft airport runway. The airport is directly across the River from our home. It was most important for us to build near an airport as we owned/flew a 210 Cessna T which allowed us the mobility to enjoy city and country life alternatively.

What makes this house unique

The location of this property is on the beautiful Pend Oreille River and has breathtaking vistas of the mountains all around. On one side, we have a golf course and on the other, the water. After completion of our estate in 1986, we named it Serendipity - and it is........

What a Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Looking for a place to stay for a family trip this summer, we were lucky enough to find Karen's home. The place and location was great for relaxing on the river. The house had everything! With kids, you always have the surprise things you forget...the house had it. Quiet, very clean, hot tub was also spotless, golf carts kept us from any walking, we fished endlessly! The pond had bass biting nonstop! We went kayaking one day at dam which was amazing! Swam at the river...all to ourselves. Grounds were flawless. The best part to me...NO MOSQUITOS!!! I usually get eaten alive. Didn't use spray-even at dusk! Not sure if it was when we went-had beautiful 92 degree weather. Lacked local restaurants-well stocked grocery/deli down the road. Pizza place was very good also made great sandwiches. As we left, a black bear was walking down the mountain! So cool!

Stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful location! This property is stunning with the river, the golf course and it's beautiful homes and buildings. What a peaceful, serene setting. We loved it! This fabulous cabin was perfect for our Mother's Day Girls Getaway with 3 generations of sisters and moms. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfy with clean soft sheets and good pillows. The living room has very comfy couches and provides a great gathering place for family, food and fun. The property has a large riverfront with amazing views. Early May wasn't quite warm enough for playing in the river, but the teenagers were in the water despite the temperature. They spent more time laying on the dock than swimming :) Fun place for water sports. It's also a great base for exploring this corner of Washington and into Canada (bring your passport). We took spectacular scenic drives each day. We loved the town of Metalline Falls and the Cutter Theater, it has an amazing historical account of this region, very interesting place to visit. I definitely recommend Serendipity for any occasion. We had an amazing weekend.

Unique Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We discovered this amazing vacation spot and spent an idyllic four days golfing on the first rate nine hole course (immaculately kept), reading in the quiet surroundings soaking in the sun and floating in the Pend Oreille river (the water temp. in August was perfect).....and just lounging and enjoying each other's company. This is a lovely vacation if you enjoy golf, the outdoors and getting away from it all. We really enjoyed the perfectly outfitted cabin and not having to go off the property for anything.

Serendipitous discovery

  • 5 of 5

We came upon this gorgeous property quite by accident last year, and finally got the opportunity to stay this past weekend. It was everything it promised to be! We stayed in the apartment which was perfectly appointed with all the amenities one could ever need, and spotlessly clean. Golf was fun, and the greens were challenging. The course was in great condition, very well maintained. Again, attention was made to every detail! We took a drive sightseeing in the afternoon as I had never been up in that area before, and took some truly beautiful pictures. Our evening was spent watching the sun set along the river's edge. So tranquil, relaxing, and romantic! The visit was perfect in everyway and we were sad to have to say goodbye and return to "reality". We hope to be able to return often! (Would love to include swimming and boating next time - water was pretty chilly this trip!) With the demands of our busy lives, we couldn't have asked for a more wonderfully peaceful getaway! Thanks so much Karin and David for sharing this little piece of paradise with us! ~Bill & Denise, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Wonderful time, perfect get-away. Summer 2010.

  • 5 of 5

Saw this listing while searching for cabin rentals for a family getaway. Being an avid golfer, I was concerned that my wife and kids would not have as much fun as I would. Boy, was I wrong. The kids (ages 9, 7, & 4) and wife had an absolute blast! Golfing with Dad early morning, and all day to discover beautiful Ione WA. The cabin is great and very cozy with tons of space both in and out, hot tub, and all that you would need. Golf course is very well maintained and perfect for golfing with kids as there is no rush (with carts available at your disposal). The cabin sits right by the river with beautiful views all around, and is secluded enough that you really feel like you got away. I would have booked this even without the benefit of the golf course. Lakes abound, tons of fishing, boating, swimming – you name it, we did it.

The one special thing about Conrad’s Bed n Golf is the owners. We were treated like family during our stay. Karin and her family are lovely people whom we still keep in touch with today. My kids talk about Karin all the time, and have memories that will last them a lifetime. They went fishing together, played together, and even caught frogs with Karin. We arrived as guest and left as friends.

If you have a young family and are not sure about a Bed n Golf – go for this one. It’s everything you could ask for.

Can’t wait to be back next year. Hopefully my golf will have improved.

The Murai family.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Our family and friends have been staying 2 to 3 times a year at Serindipity for the last 6 years. This place is beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, fun golf, just a alround great time. Karin and her stepson David keep this place, house and golf course very nice and they have become great friends to us. I could go on and on but if you stay once you will be back. As soon as the west side on the State finds this hidden gem you will have to book 2 years in advance.
