Property description

Beautifully renovated balcony shotgun on Esplanade Avenue. This house is in the bed and breakfast strip of Esplanade and will sleep four very comfortably. Include full kitchen, bath, living room and two bedrooms. A 20 minute walk to French Quarter.
Restaurants
Pagoda Cafe (1430 N. Dergenois 504-644-4178) Newly opened about three
blocks from the house. Great breakfast tacos, baked goods and coffee.
Lil' Dizzy's Cafe (1500 Esplanade 504-569-8997 - This is my favorite place
to go on Sunday's for the buffet. It is located seven blocks away towards the
French Quarter in the heart of Treme. Great Creole Gumbo, fried chicken, etc.
Morning Call (56 Dreyfous Ave, City Park 504-300-1157) This is a 24 Hour
Beignet Cafe located in City Park behind the Museum of Art. Very nice.
Liuzza’s By the Track (1518 N. Lopez St. 504-218-7888) - A great
“Hole-in-the-wall” restaurant and bar with the best Gumbo and Barbeque
Shrimp Poboys in New Orleans. Enjoy!
Café Degas (3127 Esplanade Ave. 504-945-5635) - French Bistro with
European style dining with reasonable prices and local seafood. There is
a coupon available on the website that is two for one entrees
(www.cafedegas.com).
Lola’s (3312 Esplanade Ave. 504-488-6946) - Spanish Bistro with great
local dishes.
Nonna Mia (3125 Esplanade Ave. 504-948-1717) - Good pizza and Italian
dishes, they will deliver to the house. Right past Café Degas.
Santa Fe (3201 Esplanade Ave. 504-948-0077) - Southwestern with a local
twist. Great margaritas. Live jazz on Thursday nights.
Groceries
Terranova’s (3308 Esplanade Ave. 504-482-4131) - I can’t recommend this
grocery enough. They have all your basic needs plus some local
specialties. Try the pork chops stuffed with hot-sausage. I coat the
pork chops with olive oil and season with Tony’s or any Creole Seasoning
(rub in) then cook at 400 degrees for about an hour. Right next to Lola’s.
Conseco’s ( 3135 Esplanade Ave. 504-322-2594) - Right past Santa Fe,
this store has a little larger selection than Terranova’s.
Coffee
Fairgrinds Coffee House (3133 Ponce de Leon 504-913-9072) - Great coffee
and pastries, plus live music at night. Right past Cansecos.
CC’s Coffee House (2800 Esplanade Ave. 504-482-9865) - Try the Ice Chocolate
Mochasippi. About a half mile to the left.
Other Attractions
New Orleans Museum of Art (1 Collins Diboll Circle 504-658-4100) - This
museum is around a mile walk to the left as you exit the front
door. It is located in the heart of City Park, which has several other
attractions including golf courses, tennis and an amusement park.
St. Louis Cemetery (3421 Esplanade Ave. 504-482-5065) This is the
cemetery where most of the tour companies in the French Quarter take
their guests. It is right before City Park on your right.
You may be able to join one of the tours in progress or just walk
around on your own for free.
Street Car (Carrollton Avenue near the end of Esplanade and City Park) -
The street car will take you down Canal Street to the French Quarter and
all the sights there

About: I live right down the street and love this area of the city. I have been living in this neighborhood since the mid-90s and think it is the most charming and historically preserved part of New Orleans.

Why Uptown/Carrollton, New Orleans, LA, USA:
The houses on Esplanade Ave. are some of the oldest in the city because the street is a natural ridge and therefore the earliest settlers made their homes and plantations along Esplanade and St. Charles Avenues. From the house you can walk 20 minutes to the French Quarter or 20 minutes to City Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country.
