We had such a wonderful time! The house was incredible. It was clean, and had awesome views. We enjoyed lots of time exploring Moosehead Lake region and the kids loved the shared association beach in the neighborhood. The deer were an added bonus. The kids were so excited to see them everyday. Carol was very kind and accommodating. We want to come back again next year!
Beaver Cove, Maine
We had a great time in Beaver Cove, Maine this past week. We stayed in a beautiful home with great views and friendly deer! Our location was just outside of Greenville, Maine; the small town with some pretty good restaurants and friendly people! If you love the outdoors, hiking and peace and quiet, then this is the place for you. The home is well equipped if you would like to prepare meals there but it's only a 15 minute ride into Greenville if you prefer to eat out. The home is located centrally to a lot of out door activities. We hiked every day with our dog; it is also close to a number of ATV trails and of course there is Moosehead Lake. The association has a dock area for those who have a boat and the swimming area was used by the dog on several occasions. All in all, it was a great vacation and we hope we have the opportunity to return in the future!
We had a great vacation!
This was our first trip to Moosehead Lake. The house was a great location for the guys to access the 4 wheeling trails. We enjoyed the privacy of the association beach/lake access. The kids enjoyed seeing the deer each day and feeding them. The house suited our needs perfectly and was very comfortable. We had a little trouble getting in due to the cleaning crew putting the wrong key in the box, but Carol responded right away, and was always just a text away if we had any other questions. I would definitely recommend a stay at this home.
Great location for relaxing and base camp for all kinds of outdoor activities. Very nice association waterfront, easy access to ATV trails.
House had everything we needed and was very comfortable and inviting.
Carol was very responsive and easy to work with. Would highly recommend this property!!
When we arrived after 10 hours to get there, there was no key in key box. Also we were mislead to believe that we had a big bock and waterfront. This both were not that. You had to drive 1/2 mile to get to water. There was no dock out at all.
We went to make beds and the king size bed sheets were not washed. They had dried blood all over them.
Carol said she had someone in cleaning for 5 hours. This proved to be untrue. Cobwebs all over kitchen sink. Dust all over end tables. There also was a logging operation going on in driveway.
Carol refused to give us any money back. We didn't stay at all.
Our vacation was a big disaster. Would not recommend this person or place.
It's unfortunate that you did not have a good experience. Our description on Homeaway is clear about the home having waterviews but not waterfront but we will review it again. The water access thru the association is described in the initial property description as well as any of the photos depicting the waterfront.
The association dock is usually put out just prior to Memorial Day weekend and is fully available from late May to mid September which is detailed under the dock description on our site. Ice out had just occurred the day before your arrival so it was too early for it to be out.
I'm sorry that you were under the impression that we had a logging operation on site. We had four dead trees cut the previous week to insure our guests safety . There was no activity on property at any time during your stay . We are very respectful of our guests privacy and do not come on property when it is occupied . We responded within minutes of your initial phone call to us but we were not allowed to come by to check on any issues . We were very willing to work with you to elevate your concerns . It is unfortunate that no opportunity was provided to do that.
We had a wonderful experience. The weather was exceptional cold- but the fireplace was great at keeping us warm and adding to the atmosphere.
The deer that visited several times a day added to the uniqueness of the experience.
The property is spacious and comfortable, with all the creature comforts ie; washer/dryer, dishwasher all the wood that on might want, Television, DVD player and a variety on movies and books.
We will definitely return again in the future. We thank the owners for sharing this gem with us.
Moosehead lake encompasses over 40 acres. It is the largest lake in Maine. There are also dozens of small ponds and smaller lakes for those of you seeking canoeing and kayaking in pristine environments with up close experiences with loons, moose, deer and a variety of birds including eagles.
There are hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails throughout the area which are accessible directly from our property. This is a hunting and fishing paradise offering opportunities for small and big game hunting as well as world class fly-fishing.
The Penobscot and Kennebec Rivers can offer you a thrilling ride with dam controlled class 3-5 whitewater experiences. For those of you less timid we have a delightful hike right to the river's edge where you can experience the thrill up close.
Bring your camera as photo opportunities abound.
Big Squaw Ski area is only 15 minutes away.
