Great for bachelor party type groups!
Group of us used the house for our fantasy football draft weekend and it was great. Location was excellent. Handful of bars just around the corner, about a mile and a half through campus from Darrell K Royal Stadium, and about a 10/15 minute ride to 6th street and Rainey Street. Definitely an old frat house (still has the class pictures everywhere) with dorm-style bathrooms, a pool table, poker tables, and a projection tv. Was pretty clean and they provided towels and shampoo. Would recommend for other groups like us.
Perfect for a group weekend in Austin!
Perfect house for MDW with a group of guys from college. The house was in a great location in west campus - easy to get rides down to 6th Street or Rainey. The house is big and easily accommodated 7 of us for the long weekend with room for cars. The owners and managers were thorough, transparent, and accommodating throughout the booking and rental process. Highly recommended for a group weekend in Austin!
Austin Bachelor Party
Recently stayed at the ol' fraternity house for a bachelor party. Overall, the house is in a great location and as such worked really well for our group. Some pro's and cons:
-Easily fits a group of 10
-Tons of parking
-AC units work great.
-Pam, who is the property manager, is great to deal with
-This may be a con with Austin in general, however I fear that their new housing rental laws have significantly increased the rate per night. I struggled greatly to even find a house that we could rent, all of which were really expensive (I did a bachelor party exactly a year ago, prior to the new laws, and rates were half).
-We were a group of guys, so we didn't care, however this house is in pretty rough shape. The description is right on in that its a frat house, which includes a lot of damage to walls and furniture. I think this was my biggest disappointment. We paid A LOT to stay in this house, and as such I was pretty surprised with the amount of damage. For as much as it costs to rent, this should be fixed.
-The house is huge, but the kitchen is TINY. Made it difficult to cook.
Overall, I would recommend this house to any group doing a bachelor party, but would caveat it with some of my negatives I explained. Overall, if the damage is fixed at the house, the rate is probably worth it. However, if given the option to stay here again, for the same rate, I would only go if things were cleaned up a bit.
Great Location and Accommodations
We needed a "home" base in Austin during the week of our daughter's wedding. The house is ideally located near restaurants, downtown, and easily accessible from anywhere in Austin. We were able to accommodate our entire family for several nights. The bridesmaids were able to dress on the morning of the wedding and still have room for makeup artists and hair stylists to set up. Everyone enjoyed the pool table, big screen TV, surround sound, large bedrooms and closets and the tremendous amount of parking in the back. Since most of us attended UT, we loved the UT and Texas decor!
We recently stayed here for a bachelor party of 11 guys and couldn't have been more pleased with our entire experience. Pam who handled my reservation provided us with bbq supplies (for the smoker in the back), a welcome basket, and advice on where to go in the city. The house itself was amazing! The pool table, basketball hoop, indoor/outdoor speakers, and 100' projector screen were clutch. The locker room style showers worked out very well with a large group. The location was great too with a bar, bbq place, and stores right up the street and right near the campus. I would definitely stay here again!
My group of nine was very impressed by the house. It has plenty of character with the pool table, fraternity composites from the 60's and 70's on the walls throughout the house, and a large projector screen tv with sound system. We enjoyed hanging out there and the location is close to plenty of restaurants and nightlife. Highly recommended!
Just minutes away from Downtown 6th Street, you'll love this central location. Great place to stay for local Austin events, such as Austin City Limits, South by Southwest, Formula 1, UT Sporting Events, and more!
