Old world charm with an incredible water front view and walk in beach.

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This is one of the oldest and most loved places on Lake Winnipesaukee! It was built by my great grandfather in about 1899, and it still looks exactly the way it did then. The cabin sits on 250 feet of pristine Lake Winnipesaukee waterfront. We have a natural sandy walk-in beach. There is a dock to tie your boat up to and a deck that sits on the lake edge. We face west in a partially secluded cove with fabulous view of the amazing sunsets and mountains.

There is much history in this rustic cabin which you can feel when you walk in. It feels homey and comfortable. We have a big wood fireplace which makes up the heart of the cabin. Many nights even in the summer you will find guests making a fire and sitting in the antique rocking chairs, just to hear the crackle of the fire and feel that old world charm.

We have a 16 foot dock which can be used to tie up boats or fish off of. It also one of the many places to relax and watch the sunsets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Wendy,We had a FABULOUS time!! Your home on the lake is absolutely charming! We especially loved the family photos and knowing the home had been in your family for 100 years! The views were amazing, The sandy beach and raft so much fun for swimming. You and your brother left great information so we knew everything we could possibly need. The weather was great as well.We did manage to get my mother up there for the day. She sat on the beach near the picnic table, then on the front porch and in the living room. She grew up in a home very much like your lake home, a home with a porch nestled among tall pine trees. She loved being there enjoying her grandkids and looking at the pictures of your family. My 15 year old caught his first fish that day which was quite the event!! I will try to send you some photos soon!We would love to return next summer!Again, thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us!

Boat Dock (no larger than 16' boat), walk in sandy beach, deck over water with Adirondack style chairs, great for watching the amazing sunsets. Sandy sunbathing spot next to family sized picnic table. Rocking and lounge chairs on covered front porch. There are two museums the Libby Museum & the Wright Museum, and Castle in the Clouds, which has horseback riding and a lovely tour of the estate. There is a small movie theater 30 min. away in Meredith. The Squam Lake Science Center and Loon Center is about 30 minutes away, and Storyland amusement park and Polar Caves are about 1 1/4 hours away. Plenty of local hiking spots, Abenaki Fire Tower, Mount Major, Bald Nob, Red Hill, and you are also about 30 min. from Mt. Chocorua. There are tons antiques in the Lakes Region. Kayak jet ski and boat rentals can be found in Wolfeboro. The famous Mt. Washington offers day trips around Lake Winnipesaukee and lovely night time cruises that go right past (quite a ways away!) our cove.

More than perfect

  • 5 of 5

Private, secluded location and lake location. We enjoyed the lake lulling us to sleep each night. Property was quintessential New England and satisfied my early childhood memories and was able to make more with my brother and sister. Phenomenal family photos tell a story of the love amd dedication put into this home. Brian and Wendy are wonderful hosts and we are so thankful they amd the family share this remote home with us. Will be back!

Perfect set-up for a quiet lake vacation!

  • 5 of 5

As others have stated before me, I hesitate to give an accurate review for fear that I won't be able to get a week again when my family wants one. The cove/beach is firm and perfect for younger children (as well as adults)...nice porch, deck, water access, photos and rocking chairs. The wifi was fast should you want a connected vacation. My only regret is that pets aren't allowed as my lab would have loved the place. Can't wait to go back!

Beautiful Spot on Lake Winnepesaukee

  • 5 of 5

We love Camp Potumtuck. The location and overall experience the property provides is amazing. Swimming in the clean water, sitting on the overlook deck and canoeing in the cove are our favorite things to do. We can't wait to go back next Summer!

Heavenly Spot on Mirror Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week in this historic camp. The cottage is rustic, larger than pictured and very comfortable. The location is amazing - with great views, clean water and a large sandy cove which was perfect for our twin toddlers. The owners were delightful to work with. The mornings are cool - so bring sweatshirts - even in early August.

Our 3rd stay and it was fantastic as usual...

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most perfect spots on the lake with over 200 feet of frontage and it's own private beach. We have stayed 3 times and enjoyed the beach, dock, perch and fires by the chiminea at night. There is a store near by if you need anything (extra ice) and also some nice spots in town to go to. We had the opportunity to meet and chat with Bryan on this trip and he filled us in on some of the history of the cabin that we hadn't heard before. Wendy and Bryan are both fantastic to deal with. I'm afraid to tell too many people about this place because I want to make sure that there is always availability for our family. : )

P.S. Don't forget to sign the guest book!

Another fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

We made a return pilgrimage to Pocumtuck this summer; this time my son and I shared the camp with (at various times during our 2-week stay) my cousin and his family, my aunt & uncle, and my sister and her teen boys. We loved the additions that had been made over the past year -- the railings on the sunset deck, the tree swing, the family history table -- little things that added to the historic, timeless "feel" of the place. The magic was shared by all, and I hope to make this an annual spot for much-needed rest, relaxation and restoration for as long as the Forbes family will allow us to do so!
