Bald Head Island is a North Carolina barrier island which is accessible only by boat and is the northernmost semitropical environment on the East Coast. Imagine island transportation only by golf cart, bicycle, or foot, maritime forests with sabal palms and dogwoods, Spanish moss, live oak trees forming a canopy over some roads while sunny roads wind along the 14 mile of beaches. Add acres of salt marshes and lazy lagoons, painted buntings, herons, and white ibises, the call of sea gulls, the tracks, nests, and babies of turtles who have returned from across the ocean to lay their eggs on the same beaches where they were born. Learn about all of it and more from naturalists at the Island Conservancy.
Enjoy the fun of playing golf on Bald Head's 5 star golf course or don your 'whites' for a game of croquet. Climb to the top of the oldest standing lighthouse on the East Coast or sit in a swing and observe the boats in the marina. Try your luck at fishing, crabbing, or clamming. If luck is not with you that day, purchase your seafood and other groceries at the Maritime Market and spend the afternoon shopping in some of the Island shops. Perhaps you will enjoy most of all the quiet of beaches with only a handful of people or, sometimes, none at all and only the sound of sea gulls and splashing waves. Enjoy the natural beauty of life and forget about the clock.
For a very special vacation, escape to Villa 34 on Bald Head Island!

The island was a popular hangout for pirates, home to a British fort during the Revolutionary War and the Confederates during the Civil War, and has the oldest standing lighthouse on the east coast. Enjoy an historic island tour or geo-caching with your family. There are day camps, Treasure Hunts, and nature and art classes and involvement for the kids—as well as for adults. On Wednesday nights, enjoy the Sunset Celebration with music, performers, and carnival-like atmosphere.
Experience stand-up paddling, kite boarding, surfing, or sailing lessons, canoe and kayack tours, birding excursions, island nature tours, hiking the described maritime forest trail and the ones around the Marsh. Observe wading birds in the lagoons, porpoises playing in the ocean, or witness baby sea turtles hatching and making their trek to the sea. Climb to the top of the oldest standing lighthouse on the East Coast or sit in a swing and observe the boats in the marina. Perhaps you will enjoy most of all wiggling your toes in the warm sand, the quiet of beaches with only a handful of people , and only the comforting sounds of sea gulls and splashing waves or the distant horn of a passing ship. Enjoy the peaceful and sometimes wild beauty of nature and forget about the clock.

About the owner: We have been property owners on Bald Head Island since 1972 and believe it is a very special place. Though we lived out west for many years and traveled the world, our roots and hearts remained firmly planted in North Carolina where we now reside. We enjoy visiting Bald Head year-round because the island offers something a little different and fun during each season. Fortunately, our children and grandsons share our love of Bald Head and frequently join us during our visits. We delight in exploring the island with them and continue to discover new adventures.
Why the Owner Chose Bald Head Island, NC, USA:
We've stayed in most areas of the Island, but really love the Villas. The location of the Villas are well-suited for so many different activities and ages. The beach is just a hop away, the Bald Head Island Club is right next door, and the rest of the island is within biking distance. Not only does the BHI Club have a pool, tennis program, golf, croquet and a fitness facility; but, there is a multi-sport field for playing ball, a sand volleyball court and a terrific playground. Additionally, the Villas provide a perfect spot for kids to bike, scooter, skate and make friends. Everyone in our family can find just the right speed for their vacation.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
We especially love Summer Salt because the scenery is always changing. Whether it's the serenity of the golf course, the whites on the croquet lawn, a fun wedding at the BHI Club, or the rolling ocean from the top deck, we enjoy all our lovely views. Additionally, we have a fully renovated villa that includes a much roomier and functional kitchen, and a fully enclosed third bedroom and bathroom on the 2nd floor.
