The beautifully-restored Haseltine Cabin with cozy wood-burning fireplace is an enchanting place to spend a vacation by the lake and by the sea at the same time.
The original 1930's structure and charm is still intact and you will feel as if you are in a storybook. Yet, at the same time it is completely modernized and updated. In keeping with the old fashioned feel we have chosen not to include a TV or Internet and instead have a vintage record collection and stereo, board games, cards and horse shoes. If necessary you may use your cell phone 'hot spot' to access the Internet. The family history is rich in this cabin and you will feel comfortable and embraced by the comfortable furnishings that speak of the past. The antique saw above the fireplace was used to clear the land where the cabin now sits.
Paintings grace the walls which were done by grandmothers and great grandmothers who once owned the cabin.
The nature lover who also appreciates a bit of luxury will love this place. Here you'll find the luxury of space, beauty and solitude, and also a relaxing jacuzzi tub!
A favorite for small family reunions or a honeymoon. A sleeping loft and a bunk bed room is a favorite with kids. Five acres of old growth Douglas fir forests that tower around the property with trails throughout make for great explorations. Huckleberry bushes abound with berries in early Fall and Chanterelle mushrooms are often found on the property (we provide mushroom books and an expert identifier.) Bird watchers also love this rental as it is near marshlands, the lake, streams and the ocean.
In the nearby town of Bandon you will find some of the most beautiful coastal beaches in the world. Sea stacks, caves and tide pools lace the amazing beaches in Bandon where streams flow down to the surf. Tufted Puffins make their seasonal stop on top the Bandon Beach Sea Stacks.
Bandon hosts many fun gift shops and truly wonderful restaurants. Fresh caught crab and fish is often sold right off the docks in Old Town.
There are many great musicians who play in various venues in town and Bandon's concert hall and beautiful library will amaze you with it's riches.
I am sorry pets are no longer allowed at this house.

over priced for what it is
Hopefully it's a better place to stay in the summer time be cause of the lake. We weren't able to use the front bathroom because of the heavy urine smell. The two main beds definitely need to be replaced!!! We love VRBO but not this cabin!
We are sorry that you had problems. In the future if you should have a problem, please call us right away so we can address the problem while your still there.
The coziest cabin in the woods!!
This was such an awesome experience for us visiting the Oregon coast and being able to stay in this cozy cabin in the woods. They thought of everything, if you use it, it’s there. All you need is your clothes and food. We really enjoyed a stroll around the lake in the boat, plenty of wood for hot fires and we didn’t miss the TV or internet once. Enjoyed the old record player, the campfire songbooks and we played hours of games. I would definitely recommend this getaway to anyone. We only had 4 but next time we would love to bring the whole family. It’s super quiet so the rainstorm was pretty cool to sit and listen to. Thank you for opening your home to us.
Very nice property. A few minor nit-picks.
We enjoyed ourselves mid-October 2017 for five nights. A family vacation, parents mid-to late 70's, three daughters in 40's and 50's, plus grandkids. Originally scheduled for six nights, but I got sick so we left a day early.
Pluses: found lots of yellow chanterelles about the cabin, and enjoyed a couple of nice meals with them. Beds are a bit smallish, but not too bad. Everyone there was family, so not a problem. Nice laundry facilities. Good-sized refrigerator/freezer. Floor boards creak and crack as you get near the electric range; at first thought it was an electrical short. Got used to it in a hurry. Fishing was fairly good for small bluegill and a few bass. Very weedy around the dock, so you need to get away from that or have very specialized weedless lures. Our best results came from near the end of the bay to the immediate left of the dock. The 10-foot aluminum rowboat is fine for two people at a time fishing or just rowing around. It would probably accommodate three people if a couple of them were smaller kids. We took a 12V electric motor and deep-cycle battery, which was quite handy to have. Plenty of life jackets and floatation seat cushions. Didn't use the canoe, but it looked adequate too. Still lots of evergreen huckleberries on the vines, although this time of year they are concentrated near the top.
Nit-picks: amenities list includes a dishwasher, so we took dishwashing soap. There is no dishwasher. Not a big deal, as we're used to hand-washing dishes. Amenities do not list portable bbq, so we took one. It turns out there is one at the property, so just bring your own briquets and starter fluid. Would be nice to have an AC outlet on the porch or elsewhere outside. If there is one, I couldn't find it. One granddaughter's car battery needed charging. Luckily we had brought an extension cord and battery charger, but had to run the cord out a door.
Such a beautiful and secluded place.
We had an amazing time at this little gorgeous cabin. It was everything we needed to escape and bask in the silent beauty of Laurel Lake. Thanks so much for a lovely trip!
It was a great experience for my family. Thank you
Full of character and rustic, but not primitive by any stretch! Beautiful location, easy access.
Our family of 5 enjoyed our few days here. It is a wonderful place off the beaten path and on the beautiful Laurel Lake! Wonderfully warm and charming family cabin, full of warmth and character. Original open floor plan has been converted into semi private rooms giving it a nice family feel with some cozy semi-privacy.
Adequate kitchen facilities with plenty of cooking tools, just bring your food and don't forget some spices! Pick huckleberries right out the front door and walk 50 yards down to the private dock where the kids can easily snag bluegills for easy fun! We also hiked back out to the road and down to lost lake, a wonderful trail that will lead you out to the ocean.
Overall a wonderful stay, boats and oars/paddles are a bit past their prime, and the outdoor seating pretty rickety, hence the four out of five stars... but all usable nonetheless.
Pay attention to fire restrictions during the summer season, we missed out on outdoor fire and smores this go round but hope to be back in the future!
