We were thrilled with our visit to Harbor Island. From check-in to check-out, everything was a pleasure. This condo is charming, homey, and spacious, with a very comfortable king suite. We were quite thrilled with the accommodations. We cooked a lot and found the kitchen to be perfectly appointed with everything we needed. The back deck, facing the ocean, was right in the middle of the condo with a lovely view of the Atlantic. We spotted five dolphins, very close to the shore, during a morning walk down the beach. The beach was never crowded, but the people were charming and friendly. Plenty of wide shore for Bocce Ball (provided with the condo). Gay Fish Market was only a mile or so away, several souvenir shops and another fresh market were less than a quarter mile away; supermarket shopping was about 20 minutes from the condo; and there were numerous fine dining establishments scattered in between. We spent a couple of days in Savannah/Tybee Island, as well, just over an hour from the island. We were very impressed with the laid back, relaxing atmosphere. The pass to Hunting Island was certainly a plus. Our visit to the lighthouse was exciting and the views were a delight. The beach on Hunting Island was extreme fun for us as well as our two teenagers. Lots of big waves and heavy currents! The beach at the condo had very calm waters. Overall, the condo was extremely relaxing; perfectly cool HVAC; the swimming pool was very nice (just around the corner from the deck or the front entrance to the condo); the condo had clean/hot water; and all of the amenities were in working order. Our wholehearted thanks to Barbara for a much needed, relaxing vacation in the low country of South Carolina.
We enjoyed our stay at this cute and clean place. It had direct access to the ocean along the boardwalk and through a marsh setting. The owner was very accommodating for us as our reservations were made the morning of our arrival date and then we decided to stay an extra day, too. She made sure that we had no problems in checking in and then extending our stay. We had such a relaxing time on the beach. The pass to hunting island was nice to use as well. Thanks for a great place to stay!
We had a wonderful time at Harbor Island over Memorial Day Weekend. This is truly a hidden gem! The beach was wonderful for our 14 mos old daughter. The best part is it was not crowded and the waves were very small (like bay water). We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and having wine after my daughter went to bed. It is nice that the unit has two bathrooms. I would recommend stopping at the Publix or Food Lion on the way in because it is a 15-20 min drive.
My husband and I wanted to get away for a couple of days and this was the perfect spot! We loved the condo and it would have been good for our family of four as well. It was well maintained, very clean & the view was gorgeous. We have visited the area several times but never stayed on HI. The community was nicely landscaped and everyone we met was very friendly. We ate at Boondock's and Sweetgrass Restaurant which were very good. Also, we got fresh shrimp at Gay's just across the bridge toward Beaufort. The owner & the management staff were very helpful & pleasant.
We have stayed at this property more than once. Great place to rest and relax. Unit is on the beach and close to the pool and outdoor charcoal grills. Another larger pool/clubhouse store/sand volleyball is just a short walk away also. Local island store is just up the road for basic food, drinks, snacks, and beach items. There is also a Kayak Rental and beach store 1 mile away on the island. Johnson Creek Tavern is just up the road as well for local food and drinks. Harbor Island is a perfect quiet beach getaway.
This property was great! Beachfront with beautiful ocean view! The unit was very roomy and the sofa bed was a plus. The bathroom shower was a little narrow, but worked well for us. The description was exact and the photos don't do justice to this well-maintained unit. The unit was more than we expected and the owner was extremely nice and even suggested some great places for our family to visit. She was very patient with my questions and was great to rent from. The management office was also a delight to deal with making our stay a great one! I would definitely reccomend this property to any foursome, including families with small children. My children adored the beach as well as the private pool on site. The beach and racquet club pools were also very nice and no amenity cards are needed! We saw a lot of wildlife including, stingrays, dolphins, sea turles, lots of birds, crabs of all sorts and even a few friendly snakes. There are lots of seafood restaurants within 10 miles of the unit and they were great. We would recommend Boondock's and The Foolish Frog (Lady's Island). Also, there are lots of different varieties of restaurants in Beaufort, which is about a 20 minute drive from the unit. There is a nice riverfront area in Beaufort with a playground and parks for the family and boat tours from the waterfront as well. You must visit the Hunting Island State Park (about 1 mile past Harbor) and the light house there. There are plenty of small local fruit and veggie markets on the main highway to the island and just about anything you want to do within a 65 mile radius including Savannah and Parris Island. We loved this place and will definitely be back. Note: The area is not very tourist friendly if you like amusement parks, go-carts and putt-putt. Also, be ready for huge tidal changes. The beach grows very large at low-tide, but this was not a problem as we visited the pool at low-tide and the beach areas at high tide.
