About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

In the peaceful, quiet, private seclusion of 5.5 acres of 'Heaven'----- beneath the tall Oaks and Ponderosa Pines ----- you will find ----- 'Pond de Rosa Oaks' cabin.

A very unique piece of property, behind a private gate, 5.5 acres of park like setting full of Ponderosa Pines and 5 types of oaks. A private 3 acre spring fed pond is abundant with bass, crappie, and blue gill, just waiting to take that 'bite' as you fish from the dock or peddle boat.

Listen to the gentle breezes through the trees, enjoy the green grasses, wild flowers and blooming oaks of Spring, listen to the sounds of geese, ducks, frogs as you sit under full leafed oak trees of Summer, view the radiant bursting colors of leaves in the Fall, and cuddle up in a blanket as you watch the rain and light snow showers hit the ground in Winter.

We are off the road and away from the sounds of the city and highway. The property is located behind a private gate with horse property surrounding our borders. We are located 7 miles west of Oakhurst off of Highway 49, 23 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite Park, and about an hour from the Yosemite valley from either the Fish Camp entrance or El Portal (through Mariposa) direction. Both driving choices offer beautiful scenery, either by the Merced River or all the large pines as you head into the park to visit the 'Big Trees'. We will have maps and books for you to view that will help you pick your points of interest. Mariposa has a lot to offer, as does Oakhurst for shopping, viewing, and restaurants. There are also 2 golf courses within 10 minutes of our cabin. Chuckchansi Casino is about 20 minutes away on Highway 41, and Bass lake is about 20 minutes from the property. Take in all the scenery and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the mountain community.

All of our water comes from a deep well, which comes from high atop the mountains of Yosemite by springs....and is the 'best' water around to drink. Just fill your water bottles before you take off for that big hike in Yosemite Park.

Have a romantic dinner, private picnic or barbecue, and watch the wildlife which includes: deer, quail, wild turkeys, squirrels, raccoons, hawks, falcons, turkey buzzards, ducks, geese, 5 ft tall blue heron, king fisher, mountain jays, robins, many migratory birds, coyotes and an occasional bobcat.

At dark, take a walk outside to view the starry sky and maybe catch a glimpse of an owl flying by, a bat swooping over the pond, or the sounds of coyotes and even cows in the distance. On a moon lit night, enjoy the shadows of trees and the serene feeling of nature and all it has to offer.

Our 2 bedroom cabin features a cozy atmosphere with log furniture( including a futon), large TV with satellite, wood ceiling, ceiling fan and electric fireplace in living space with large window view of the outdoors and pond. A kitchen table next to a large window for viewing, granite counter tops, microwave, gas stove, refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster, pots and pans, utensils, dishes and silverware make our kitchen with tile floor and oak cabinets very inviting. Our queen bedroom has 2 large view windows, wood ceiling, pine closet doors, homemade pine furniture and ceiling fan. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds and homemade pine furniture and log-look wood walls, large window for view of pond, outside access pine door, and ceiling fan. The bathroom has oak cabinets with granite counter, large granite step in shower and antique mirror.

Enjoy the outdoors on our large split log seat, picnic table under oaks next to the horseshow pit, or our 'horse swing' hanging from a large oak tree. Catch frogs, fish, hike, relax, play cards, horse shoes, ladder ball........... we want you to enjoy your time here and relax!

If you have questions or would like more pictures, please feel free to call us. We live on the property in our house, so we will be here if you need anything.

About Yvonne

We started coming to Yosemite a couple times a year about 12 years ago, and just fell in love with the Park and the area. We always stayed in a bed and breakfast and eventually looked at property, bought our place in Ahwahnee, and here we are! We love sharing our place with others and letting people see the true nature and beauty here.

We hope you will come and enjoy yourself!

Yvonne purchased this cabin in 2004

What makes this cabin unique

Peace and quiet, away from all the hustle-bustle of our busy lives. We are secluded and private with 5.5 acres and private pond. From our place you can head in many directions to sight see, or just hang out here and kick back and relax. You will find that the mountain community is really slower paced than city life, and everyone is friendly :)

Wow, what an incredibly peaceful place to be! Thank you so much for your generosity and hospitality! Our only disappointment is that we did not get to meet Gary. But, Sol was a terrific stand-in for teaching the girls (and us!) how to fish. Yvonne -- you just made us feel so welcome! We can't wait for our next visit. Of course, this entry would not be complete without a thank you to Tehya for allowing our girls to run her ragged!

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

The perfect experience

  • 5 of 5

A home away from home. The cabin provided all a person could ask for while away from home. It was the ideal location to begin each day's adventure into Yosemite (either from the south or west entrance of the park). The cabin was impeccably clean and comfortable. One of the many great aspects of this place is that is off the road and provided solitude from the highway or heavily traveled roads. No worries about being right next to another cabin. Even with the drought and the pond being low it provided hours of entertaining fishing. The best part of it all are the owners, Yvonne and Gary. Better hosts one could not have wished for, whether it was ideas and info on Yosemite, grocery stores, restaurants, and checking in everyday to see that all needs were being met. Also, Yvonne pointed us to some of the best ice cream ever enjoyed. Everyone must get some Tillamook ice cream at the store. Go to Reimers and get some dark chocolate salted caramel gelato too.

Yosemite Fun

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a great "HOME BASE" for us to stay at while visiting Yosemite. The drive is a little way's but so worth it as its part of the sightseeing Yosemite experience. We did the drive multiple times and even one up the back way. Beautiful!!. The weather was very hot but did not deter us in any way. Yvonne gave us soo many great ideas of places within Yosemite to visit that I think we saw and experienced more than what most tourist's do. In addition to great suggested eating places there were many other conveniences close by. The clean, very well-equipped cabin was a wonderful place to return to each evening. We brought our 15 year old grandson with us on this vacation. He loved it. That's saying a lot for a 15 yr old. He also loved going with Gary on the little boat to do some fishing. If we didn't have something Yvonne had it for us. I would definitely recommend this Cabin. Thanks Yvonne and Gary!

Excellent family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Wow. Our stay was above and beyond our expectations. It was a great out of the way vacation spot that made for excellent family bonding time. The cabin was cozy and very clean. Everything worked the way it should and were were immediately comfortable. The property is beautiful. And, Yvonne is truly a great hostess. Our kids had fun exploring and the fishing was special for our son. It was also a great base camp for our trip into Yosemite. Thank you Yvonne and Gary. We will be back!

amazing vacation with 3 generations

  • 5 of 5

Took our 2.5 year old daughter and our parents here for a vacation. The house is perfect for our family of 5 - comfortable and spacious. There were so much fun things to do that we didnt go into yosemite at all. Even though water level is apparently lower than most years due to the drought, we had so much fun rowing the boat around and looking at all the fishes. My dad really enjoyed the fishing. it was 3 days of amazing tranquility and fun!!

We loved our stay in this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much to Yvonne for welcoming us to Yosemite. Our few days here will be fondly remembered for a long time. The cabin was perfect, quiet and private, clean, comfortable and cosy. The weather was lovely so we were able to bbq every evening, something we're not able to do back home. We could sit outside until late, with a glass of wine, again, something we don't get to do very often. We had a go on the paddle boat in the pond, which was fun. Lots of wildlife around which we loved, turtles sunbathing, birds of all descriptions, deer drinking from the pond, we even saw a Coyote, we were thrilled but felt sorry for the duck it had selected for its breakfast! We came here to visit Yosemite but loved the cabin so much we ended up not leaving for two out of the four days. On the other two days we drove to Yosemite for walking. It was quite a drive but worth it. We also did some walking around Bass Lake. A superb cabin and location and we were sad to leave.
