My wife and kids have been enjoying Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton for 15 years. The kids are now grown, married, and we have 1 grandson! We built our future retirement home large enough to accommodate our growing family and friends. Our permanent home is 2 hours from Hot Springs. We want to share it with special families that will experience wonderful memories during their stay.
Luther Lewis purchased this house in 2008
Our family has enjoyed going to Hot Springs for the past 15 years. For us, it has been a combination of going to the lake and city. We love the lake and mountain views. We acquired this lot in 2001 and knew we would build our retirement home on it.
Convenient to restaurants and entertainment. Boat dock gives you immediate access to the lake or you can relax by the pool or in the hot tub. Ten minutes to Oaklawn race track and casino.
Very nice accommodations and close to the race track. It was perfect for our group of adults. Large kitchen and dining area. The weather was beautiful and lounging on the decks was so relaxing. We would stay again!
This house was great for our group. We had a group of 6 couples and this house was exactly what we needed. There were plenty of bathrooms; two couples downstairs had to share a shower. We grilled out with the gas grill and it was really perfect. The kitchen is well stocked. We brought our own cooking ingredients and foil, ziplocks, Saran Wrap, etc.
Thanks again for letting us enjoy this house for our little reunion. We have such great memories!
This home is wonderful. We were there for 6 days and the a/c went out on day 3. Donna had someone there within the hour and everything was cool again. This was our first time in Hot Springs and everyone loved it. We know that we will use HomeAway again. We usually schedule a lot of activities/sightseeing where ever we go. This is one time when we just sat on the porches and chilled. The only issue we had was with the spiders. If you are sitting on the back decks at night watch out. They are everywhere. This house is very clean and well maintained. We loved this house so much that we wish it was ours. If we ever come back to the Hot Springs area we will definitely rent this house again.
This was a great place for our family of 9 adults and 5 kiddos. The weather was hot but the pool solved that problem. We also rented a pontoon boat from Hot Springs Marina (also highly recommended). Luther was great to work with, as was Krystal, the local manager. Thanks!!!!
This was a beautiful home for our extended family of 7 adults and 5 small children, our first time in Hot Springs. We were looking for a central location for family from Missouri, Texas, and Mississippi, and this was perfect. The owner was easy to work with, answered every question. The interior of the home was lovely, I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a prettier master bedroom. Five of the bedrooms had a lake view. (The 6th bedroom had no view, no window.) I spent quite a bit of time on the porch swing. The home was child friendly with a crib, pack-n-play, and high chair. We loved the pool and hot tub. We rented a boat at the marina that you can see from the house, just on the other side of the bridge. We fished, swam and tubed off the boat. We also found two good restaurants to boat to for shore lunches.
While we did a lot of the “touristy” things in town, the best part was visiting both Lake Catherine (great hiking) and Lake Ouachita (great fishing and kayaking) State Parks. A tandem kayak rental was only $8 an hour! Both parks had no admission fees and were amazing. The guys had a fishing guide on Lake Ouachita and caught their limit in a few hours of striper bass. We had it for dinner three nights and brought a lot home!
The restored Fordyce Bathhouse downtown was also free to visit and very interesting. Then we hiked to the top of the mountain, which only took about 20 minutes.
As far as the few negatives of the rental, be sure to bring toilet tissue, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, and dish detergent. The home came with a very limited supply, not enough for 12 people for a week. For the price of the rental, it would have been nice to have some “Sam’s Club” quantities so we didn’t have to buy everything. Also bring beach towels as there weren’t many of those. (Someone stopped by to get their favorite beach towel one day that we were using it at the pool. Weird.) For some reason the cabinet with the wine glasses was locked. There wasn’t a hair dryer, but we were at the lake, so didn’t care about wet hair. We weren’t able to check in at 3, but they were done cleaning by 4.
The other negative was the outside of the home, especially the back, needed work. The pretty white railings you see in the pictures were all rusty. The blue on the back of the home was no longer blue. The dock was a little rickety.
But I’m still giving it 5 stars, as we had a lovely vacation.
My family spent an amazing time at this home last summer. It was the earlier part of the summer and the owners went out of their way to see that the pool and property was in perfect order. Wonderful, kind people. I have been looking for this page just for the purpose of making a post. Excellent does not do it justice ... if the opportunity arises, we will certainly be back! We had a great time ... So easy working with the owners!
