Little Bear Cottage is a charming, 2 story home, reminiscent of a turn-of-the-century, Appalachian homestead, centrally located on a lovely wooded lot in scenic Wears Valley. It features easy access and a paved driveway, making coming and going a pleasure, year round. It also features 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a Jacuzzi tub, a large wrap around deck with covered hot tub, high speed internet, cable TV, and real wood burning fireplace. If you have children, you will undoubtedly appreciate the large, shady property, located on a quiet cul-de-sac.

Whether you choose to immerse yourself in a wide variety of activities in town, or just relax at the cabin, there just never seems to be enough time! We are just a short drive from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Townsend. We are within walking distance of local shops and restaurants, not to mention just a few miles from the Foothills Parkway and within 10 miles of the back entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive to historic Cades Cove, or take in the breath taking view from Clingmans Dome. Hop a ride on the trolley to cruise the Parkway, or spend the day at famous Dollywood. Add to that bicycling, river rafting, fishing, hiking, restaurants, theaters, museums, gift shops, and outlet malls. The list is endless! About Melinda Dix

Bruce and I have been coming to this area for 30+ years, starting out in a tent, then to a pop-up camper. In fact, this is where we spent our honeymoon! All of our children's memories revolve around these camping trips and vacations. Now that they are grown, with children of their own, they come here to make their own memories. What I find heart warming is that they do not consider the vacation over until they have gone to all the places that they went to as children! We never tire of making the drive from Florida, and always look forward to the peace we feel as we turn onto our hill leading to Little Bear Cottage.

Melinda Dix purchased this house in 2000

Why Melinda Dix chose Sevierville

We chose to buy in this area because of the memories and the tradition of spending our vacations here. This area has enough attractions for all ages to keep busy, and at the same time, offers activities that are free. You can't put a price on a peaceful walk through the woods, or a picnic by a stream.

What makes this house unique

One of the benefits of staying at our property is the large yard. Many guests with children like the security of knowing the kids are not going to fall off a mountain when playing. We are also within walking distance of so many local shops, and restaurants. During the fall we are across the street from the Octoberfest activities and not far from the local farmers market. Though we are not secluded (one of 6 homes on dead end street) there is still a level of privacy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just want to say thank you with all my heart for the great stay at your cabin. We loved everything about it !So convenient to everything, yet out far enough to be quiet and serene. We loved the bakery on the corner. We loved all the knick-knacks in your house too; there was always something new to see and admire. We had such a great time on our girl's trip.I'd love to bring my husband there sometime and look forward to staying with you again. I just felt like you were a family member offering her home and doing everything possible to make this stay comfortable. Have enjoyed talking with you and wish you the best for the rest of 2017.

Look no farther...Little Bear is the cabin to rent!! Wonderful and clean..

  • 5 of 5

My family and I only get 1 week of vacation per year and this is definitely where I would love to spend ours again and again. The cabin was beautiful and clean..the hot tub was hot and the scenery was breathtaking. My children loved the bakery at the end of the road and me and my husband loved the moonshine place up the road 😉 Gatlinburg was so much fun and there is so much to do there. We made so many lifetime memories with our children. We would like to say thank you from our family to yours...and we will definitely be staying again.

Owner's Response: I love it when a family enjoys our home as much as we do. Wears valley is a beautiful place to vacation. We try hard to make it as comfortable as possible and we love repeat guests!

Charming cottage in the Smokies!

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed all the cottage had to offer. We loved spending time on the porch and making smores over the fire. It was a great location away from the tourist areas, but still a short drive to everything. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Little Bear. My 3 & 5 year old loved the bear decor and counting all the bears in every room. The location was great, 10-15 minutes from pigeon forge/gatlinsburg and lots of cute shops and restaurants in the area. We ate at the HillBilly restaurant at the owner's recommendation and it was great - free breakfast buffet for kids 5 and under! You could walk there from the cabin it was so close. We didn't end up making it to the bakery that was also within walking distance and regret it! We also hiked Metcalf bottoms and checked out the old school which was a perfect hike for the kids. The hottub was also quite nice after a busy day out and about. The house is in a culdesac with several other houses and some are quite close but we didn't see many neighbors the whole time and it still felt private. The owner was fantastic to work with and very accomodating!

Great home away from home!!!

  • 4 of 5

This place has such a personal touch with all the little bears everywhere!!!

Everyday, we find something else we hadn't noticed.

Everything you need is here, so you need not bring anything extra.

Very enjoyable vacation.

If I had a con, it would be that it's pretty close to other cabins, in a cabin village area, so if your looking for seclusion, this may not be for you. The neighbors were rarely there so it is still very quiet and peaceful.

Great little cottage to stay in on our mini family vacay! Clean and comfortable and private. Close enough to all the area attractions but without all the traffic and noise. Melinda was great & I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Owner's Response: Sometimes it is hard to believe all the traffic and attractions are just 6-7 miles away. It is so quiet at the house. I am glad you enjoyed yourself!
