This classic Cape May cottage backs right up to expansive meadows. Sit on the screened in porch and drink in the breathtaking sunsets. In spring and fall, see migrating birds as well.
You'll love the way the owners decorated the place - very country cottage chic. Sit on the front porch after a day at the beach and watch the world go by. Then fire up the grill in the backyard and have dinner while the sun sets over the marsh. Location is 9 blocks from beach at

My family and I were so delighted with all the provisions the cottage provided in the kitchen and around the house. Since a few of us suffer food allergies it was so helpful to have a full kitchen and the Shop Rite supermarket had everything we needed to make delicious meals everyday (which saves money from eating out). Each day we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the screened-in back porch with a glass of wine. The house is far enough from all the tourists but yet close enough to drive quickly to the beach (would recommend to park on the streets that do not have parking meters, and beach is 2 or 3 blocks away), as well as the cute town with all the fun stores to shop. However, what we enjoyed the most was the privacy we had staying at a house and appreciated Darlene's flexibility in working with the cost since we did not stay a full week. If we come back to beautiful Cape May, we would definitely come back to this house. Highly recommend it.
We were traveling to Cape May for a wedding and decided to make a long weekend out of it. Our stay at Sunset Cottage was wonderful. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. The views from the back porch were amazing. It's a short walk into town but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. All in all we had a fantastic time and would definitely rent again!
We have stayed at the Sunset Cottage one week every summer for the past 4 years. The cottage is very well appointed and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need for whip up a simple meal to a gourmet feast. The screened-in porches are very relaxing especially the back one when you want to watch the sun set over the marsh. Darlene, the owner, is very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. We really enjoyed our daily walks into the town (15 minutes). I could not recommend a better place for the right price. We will be back (actually we are returning this weekend!).
We were pleasantly surprised by this house, given that it's considerably cheaper than most other rentals in Cape May. Lovely porches, front and back, as well as a backyard sitting area -- the back is particularly nice, as it overlooks marshes and a nightly sunset. The front overlooks the main route into town, which had concerned me, but other than not wanting to sit on the front porch during peak traffic hours, this was fine. The house itself is very clean, and a good size for one family. Three bedrooms, with a master suite downstairs; two more modest bedrooms upstairs, good for kids. Nicely furnished. Darlene, the owner, is very nice, and offered without me asking to discount the price when I said we'd only be there six nights. She's thought of the little things, like providing beach passes and grocery store checkout cards. Not a luxury spot but perfect if you are looking for something a little more modest. Hope to come back again
We loved our weekend at the Sunset Cottage. The house was beautiful, quaint, nicely renovated (true to its country cottage chic description), extremely clean and at a great weekend price for off-season. It was well equipped and was perfect for 6 of us. Darlene, the owner, was especially attentive and helpful in answering questions before our arrival.
We really liked the flow of the house -- upon entering through the back door, the layout is open and bright -- perfect for a beach vacation! The comfortable living room had enough seating for 6 of us, and gave us the opportunity to spend time together late into the evening without having to worry about being in a common space of a B&B or restricted to one room in a hotel.
The house is about a 10-15 minute walk to downtown, and a bit farther to the beach. But if you enjoy walking or have bikes, this is a great option! It is located on one of the more main thoroughfares, so there is a bit more traffic than the quieter side streets. The view out the back to the meadows is breathtaking, and especially wonderful if you catch the glimpse of a sunset. We'd definitely choose the Sunset Cottage on our next trip to Cape May!
