3, 6, 12, 24 MONTH OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN OUR HOME: Our property isn't a vacation rental--it's our full-time home! As such, it offers a lot more than what you usually find elsewhere. Nothing on the property was purchased with the thought that 'this will be good enough for our renters.' Everything in our home was hand chosen to make our lives richer. Here's our story: The summer of 2010 was the first time we offered our newly-renovated house as a rental, and we sailed to Maine. All went well and every summer we plan to sail off again, for the summer, or longer. We live and work from our home and love the location! We're walking distance to the train (to NYC), fabulous shopping, a tremendous number of restaurants and free live concerts in the summer. It's great here, but sailing is our passion and we've cruised, living and working aboard, venturing as far south as the Bahamas. We hope our wanderlust will provide a unique opportunity for another family to live in our home for an extended period of time.
During the summers of 2010 through 2017 and winter of 2014/2015, we offered our recently-renovated house as a rental, and we sailed along the Northeast, going as far north as Maine and as far south as Georgetown, Bahamas. We live and work from our home and love the location! We're walking distance to the train (Metro North to NYC or New Haven), fabulous shopping, restaurants and free live concerts in the summer. It's great here, but sailing is our passion and we love being liveaboards/work-aboards. We hope our wanderlust will provide a unique opportunity for another family to live in our home for an extended period of time.
Kathy purchased this house in 1997

Living on the water with a private dock makes kayaking and canoeing an easy treat. Paddle to dinner at one of many excellent riverside restaurants, or catch one of the many free concerts at Levitt Pavilion. Towering pines, cool river breezes, a heated pool, and fine fishing from the edge of the property makes our home feel like summer camp. Experience sunset as the evening cools sitting by the pool or the river's edge with a fire burning in one of the two outdoor fireplaces. Relax!
Our family rented their lovely, renovated Westport home for the summer of 2010. It was a dream summer with a clean house, state of the art appliances, friendly neighbors, and wonderful accommodations. The owners were wonderful, and gracious landlords in every sense.
The pool and grounds were kept up weekly, and Kathy was always available if I had any questions regarding the house, or town itself.
Not only was the house fabulous, the town of Westport offered many amenities we loved. The beach, golfing privileges, easy access to trains and restaurants were the complete summer package. Indeed, we are entertaining the idea to rent again this year after the birth of our 2nd child.
This was the best rental experience we've ever had. The location is impossible to beat: it has river access directly off the property (including kayaking and paddle boarding off of the backyard dock) and is in walking distance to town, train station, farmer's market, restaurants, live music, food and other stores). The owners are a lovely couple who were accessible and responsive throughout the summer to answer any questions we had (and they even kept us abreast of town events and alerts); the house is wonderfully maintained with great modern appliances (a REAL CHEF's kitchen!), fantastic bathroom showers and tubs, and it has a great heated pool with good shade but enough sun. Lastly, it is only a 5 minute drive to best beach! We feel in love with the town because of our extended summer rental at this location. We would and have already recommended the house to friends!
My family came from 3 places around the world to meet for my daughter's wedding. This home was so beautiful, we all loved the setting, the amenities, the friendly host and helpful next door tenant. Everything we needed was close to hand, and it was a very enjoyable time!
My wife, two daughters and I immensely enjoyed the three month period that we rented this wonderful house which came fully equipped with a heated pool, a dock , a kayak and a canoe! Every room was beautifully furnished and incredibly comfortable to live in. Virtually every window has a view of the property's lovely gardens. It was delightful to have the opportunity to Kayak in the river, or swim in the pool and --at the same time-- be within easy walking/ driving distance to Westport's superb stores and restaurants. The Owners ( Kathy and Julian) were the warmest and most responsive landlords that one could possibly wish for. Everyone in our family easily assigns this outstanding property a five star rating.

We were very lucky to find this property on a short notice. My husband and I recently had our first child and were looking for a perfect getaway that will be close enough to Manhattan but yet still feel like a vacation. This house was perfect. It was exactly as described on this site. The owners (Kathy and Julien) were very lovely and answered all of our questions quickly and patiently. The property was so relaxing! We loved hanging out in the kitchen and living room; both overlooking the river. We also took advantage of kayaking which was a huge bonus. The neighbors were also very friendly and welcoming. We really felt like we were part of this lovely community. The town was a short walk from the house (20 minutes). The beach and supermarket were a short drive (5 minutes at most). At the end of our 7 night stay, we extended it for 2 more nights. We were lucky enough that Kathy and Julien were flexible to accommodate our last minute request. We would've extended it for more but we had to go back home. We look forward to coming back here in the near future.
We spent the best summer in recent memory at this Westport gem. We reside in Manhattan and greatly appreciated the home's proximity to the Metro North train station. We could travel back and forth easily and so could our grown children who were able to come and go according to their schedules. This is an underrated yet highly valuable convenience.
We place a high priority on a waterfront property and the Saugatuck River is this home's defining feature. The tidal river is endlessly interesting due to its dramatic rise and fall. Wildlife of all kinds thrive in and around the water, so there is always something to observe and enjoy.
Massive trees provide a beautiful canopy and flowering perennials contribute constant color to the lush and private yard. We spent most of our time on the patio or in the pool.
Kathy and Julian have created a tasteful and comfortable home that incorporates the charm of a former barn and many modern elements such as large windows and beautiful finishes. All of the appliances and fixtures are modern and in perfect working order and the kitchen is well equipped.
The nearby farmer's market kept us supplied with gorgeous fresh produce and flowers and I ended up cooking far more than I usually like to for a vacation, but it was a pleasure.
Kathy and Julian were highly responsive to any questions and concerns that we had and were always a pleasure to deal with.
We would have no hesitation to stay here again would highly endorse it to our friends.
We rented this beautiful home for three months (June, July, August 2013). The house is on a lovely tree lined street creating a mood of relaxation as you drive in. On arrival, the home itself is charming, well furnished, and pristine. The kitchen is quite modern and great for cooking as well as being extremely well appointed. The house has good fung shui. This is a happy place.
It is easy to just move-in and unpack. The owners are very friendly and readily available when needed. They were away but remained very accessible. They know the area well and are happy to give you lots of info.
Everything you could need or want is there — including a canoe and a kayak which you can take down to the floating dock and paddle to dinner. (There are three restaurants nearby where you can dock.)
The house is very well located, (literally) three minutes from everything in Westport, but you would never know it. The river is a few steps down from the pool in the backyard. It is utterly charming.
The well furnished outdoor patio was our most used space. They have a fabulous new grill and lots of seating. The "River Room" was the most used interior room, it's all windows with views of the river, pool and trees. Everyone gravitated to the kitchen and "River Room" which are open to each other.
It is an ideal set-up. We entertained friends from the city a good deal and had a wonderful time getting to know the rhythms of the river. There was total privacy.
The maintenance work (pool, lawn mowing and gardening) happened without us having to do anything. The workers were extremely polite, very accommodating, and always reliable.
The Westport Playhouse is nearby, as are weekly outdoor concerts, markets and fairs. There is a sailing school less than one mile away. There are plenty of places to shop for fresh food and lots of other shopping is easily available.
We received our deposit back (with full documentation of utilities used) very quickly. The owners are very, very nice people and great to rent from.
All in all, this is a great situation. We were very pleased. I would recommend this property to a friend or a relative anytime of the year. A perfect TEN stars.
