gorgeous house, newly fully renovated, 4 bedrooms + 2 baths, plus folding bed and sofa for a kid, so sleeps 8 adults + 1-2 children, central ac, hot tub, outdoor shower, gas BBQ, minutes walk to beach and town

This gorgeous home is newly renovated. It has never been a 'share house' so is in immaculate condition! The former owner's wife was an interior designer, so each bedroom has a unique theme (e.g. country, nautical, Americana, etc). It is UNIQUE in that it has BOTH an outdoor hot tub on the large deck, and ALSO CENTRAL AC! Outdoor shower is an incredible experience in the summer! Located near Midway, it's a 10 min walk to the beach and a 5 min walk to town!

Why me and the 3 secretaries who work for me in my office;) chose Fire Island

it's the closest nice beach to NYC, accessible by train, i like not having cars so it's more peaceful and i don't have to worry about my dog getting run over, and it's way more relaxed and less pretentious than the Hamptons!:) It's also only a 1-hr train ride fr. Grand Central on the LIRR, then a relaxing, pretty 30-min. ferry ride from Bayshore to Ocean Beach. Make sure you carefully check the ferry and train schedules to coordinate this, to minimize the chances of missing your ferry (the most common mistake is to read the ferry schedule backwards, btw)!

What makes this house unique

I like to take my dog to the beach and play fetch:) i like to fish i.e. surf-cast at dusk. the bars are so relaxed they let Hershey in late at night:) I'm still single so also bought a beachfront home this year in Ocean Bay Park, which is more of a singles crowd. The current listing is in Ocean Beach, which is more for families and children, or couples not wanting to 'hook-up':)

A weekend on Fire Island always feels like a week off, because there are no cars, and you just walk around to everything in a relaxed way--it's like going back in time to Mayberry!:)

very nice great room with large screen home theater w surround sound, although we liked to leave it on wo the sound and open the windows and let the soundtrack be of the waves you can hear 24/7 (if the windows are open)

enjoyed this family friendly house with a gracious owner

I stayed here with family in June 2016 and we all enjoyed our time at this lovely, well-kept house. It's a family friendly home with a big kitchen and large deck.

Lots of modern conveniences especially 2 working bathrooms and good air conditioning. Very convenient location.

Clean, well decorated, cute

Let's just say, I never thought I would be writing a review like this. I did think the house itself was clean, well decorated and very cute but

there was things that I was very upset by. First, the key was not were it was suppose to be which was a very small thing to complain about.

After getting into the house, we found it to be very nice. It was a little hot so we attempted to put the air on. After the owner got their handy

man to come, it worked like a charm.

The Previous tenants, however, never put out their garbage so we had garbage on the side of the house that the animals just loved at night.

It also attracted a lot of ANTS. Not the owners fault at all, just wanted to put it out there that we were having a terrible beginning to our

vacation.

The following night we had a really bad storm which attracted ANTS to come into the kitchen window. They were having more fun then we

were at that point. I contacted the owner again and he took care of it.

We could deal with these things but what really upset us was the fact that the Hot Tub was broken and it looked like it was broken for a very

long time. We were told it just happened the week before, Not true. Another thing was the television did not work, was told by the owner

that Dish Network would come and bring the card, no one showed up. This was a huge disappointment.

I was a little nervous running the air but the screens out of the window and we could not open the windows in the back of the house which

made it very hot.

The owner made good on his promise with a 10 percent refund but I wish it was a more positive vacation.

One more thing, it was very hard to get a response from the owner, which just made it a little worse than it should have been.

lovely holiday with family or friends

Impeccably presented house added to a lovely holiday, as always in Fire Island, NY. My stay was for a week and I and my friends had a great vacation. The owner is very hospitable.

A lovely beach within walking distances of the house and to the local center with restaurants and shops.

As other reviews have said, this really is a Home from Home place to stay and will add to anyone's holiday staying there.

Always a pleasure

I've been to this house several times in the past and there's a reason I always keep coming back.

It's so nice to be a five minute walk from either side of the island. It's like living next to two beaches. Along the road I've come across a few baby deer and they're really friendly.

The entire town feels like a small, peaceful village, which is great for someone who lives and works in NYC all year round. Everything you need is there and the beach itself is gorgeous.

As for the house, it's always in good condition, easy to find, and quick to get to once you get on the island. Everything is in good shape and has all the amenities for a good time.

The entire experience is was great. Best of all the owner is a LASEK surgeon and I was able to get a discount on both the week's stay and my LASEK surgery by purchasing them both at the same time.

Maybe it's not for everyone but my vision is way sharper now that I'm not in my contacts and that really helps with enjoying the thousands of stars on the beach at night (another thing us city folk don't get to enjoy regularly)

A+ will stay again

Really enjoyed our stay at this rental. The house is well kept and has all amenities needed for a fun and stress free time. The location is convenient to town while far enough away to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. The beach is a close, short walk. We had a truly great time enjoying fire island, especially with such a nice and convenient place to stay.

Amazing house and island in general

I stayed here for a week in May and it was incredible. The house was beautiful and spotless and our family really enjoyed the experience. The bars and restaurants and beach are all so close it makes it incredibly easy to experience the full benefits of Fire Island by just walking. Incredibly peaceful vacation and I've actually booked it again for a week in August.
