My retired parents loved the beauty of Lake Tahoe in both summer and winter, and would generally spend 2 to 6 weeks there, twice a year. This has been a 'family use' unit, not a rental unit, for many years. Since my dad passed away, it still gets family vacation use, but my generation must schedule around work and other obligations. Thus, our desire to generate income through rentals.
The view of Lake Tahoe from this condominium is good from all three levels, but is spectacular from the middle level. As you can see in the photograph, our view looks over the top of 'lake front' units. For the size of the unit, we think we are offering a better deal than lake front units, with a view that is just as nice. You can see mountains around much of the lake, and, in the winter, the Heavenly ski slopes are clearly visible. The inside is nicely furnished, but feels more like you are staying at someone's home than at a rental.
The house looked like a very old one. There were a lot of issues. The heaters were not working right, we were sleeping in the cold. The drains were clogged in the bath tub. The house is for 8 people, but when 2 people take a shower the hot water is gone. You have to wait for another half hour for the next person to go in. When I called, they were not able to help us out and we had to stay in the cold for 2 nights.
I guess it would be alright for a summer stay but will not recommend it for Winter.
I've stayed Sept. and Oct. for 2011 and 2010 and enjoyed the condo very much. The first level room is particularly good since it is large with a view of the Lake. The main floor second level deck and the second level master bedroom have even better views of the lake. I usually stay in the first level with guests on the third level which makes for a nice separation. People who visit me usually say something like, "I like the way you live." The owner was friendly and helpful.
