Stylishly appointed, this 4 room studio suite (478sq.ft.) was designed with comfort foremost in mind. Commodious seating, 500+TC bedding, a Simmon's Cal-King mattress (w/foam topper!) and quality bath linens are just a few of the “upscale” amenities. The cool blue and stone colored walls compliment the contemporary furnishings, clean lines, hardwoods, bamboo flooring and oriental carpets. Waves play in the floor to ceiling beveled mirror wall panel. The Asian art found throughout the apartment (museum puttied in place to prevent accidents) lends an exotic air to the décor.
The same care to detail is shown throughout the rest of the suite. An oriental folding privacy screen placed in front of the opened door (heavy high security screen door w/serious lock) gives you air flow on 3 sides~~ah, those island breezes. This is rare in a condo. Combined with the efficient ceiling fan, you’ll find little need for the air-con. Of course, air con is available at all times.
Settle in on the super comfy Italian love-seat, put your feet up on the ottoman and watch a little NETFLIX (on the DVD player) on those "stay-in" evenings. AFTER you catch the sunset!

'The Kona Bali Kai'. Midway down Ali'i Drive is famous surf spot 'Banyans' (your view, as pictured in the slide show), adjacent to the Kona Bali Kai main building. (2 miles north to 'Restaurant Row' and the Village, 3 miles south to Keahou Bay and less than a mile to “Magic Sands” beach.) Across and just south from the main building, 12 unit 'Building 3' is easily accessed and has a 'laid back' feeling not usually associated with condos. The unit is on the slightly elevated (10 ft. above sea level) first floor (easy access and good views of the ocean over 2 lane Ali'i Drive), with private residences on the north and east, a 'Mom and Pop' style market (w/ spirits) on the south and the Pacific Ocean to your west.

Though I never met her, Rebecca was dedicated to making sure my stay was comfortable and always responded quickly to emails. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is more than adequate for a vacation unit. Parking is easy right in front of the building. One negative for me was that being on the first floor of the building, (which is handy...just a few stairs to deal with), the noise from the street (cars, occasional motorcycle, and people just hanging out across the street on a public space that’s close to the ocean) was an issue for me, but I’m sensitive to extraneous noise. The other sometimes annoyance was a person living above the apt. who must have been related to “Big Foot” from the sound of his/her stomping around. But hopefully that person won’t be using that apt. when you are there. You can see some of the sunset from the balcony and it was also very nice to relax and watch the sun go down from the manicured lawn of the main bldg. just across the street. You can’t swim from there as the water’s edge is all lava rocks but swimming beaches are a short drive away.
Everything was as advertised
I was concerned that there would be a lot of street noise, but for the most part the sound of the ocean drowned it out (with the slider open). It was a lovely condo with a nice view, and everything we needed in a landing spot.

Rebecca's place has EVERYTHING you need for a relaxing stay on the west side of Hawaii. The decor is pleasing; equipment, dishes, linens, beach needs - all high quality. Coffee, tea, basic cooking supplies are there. King size bed is very comfortable. Because it is part of the Kona Bali Kai, you also have access to a nice swimming pool and small laundromat.
The location is a real plus. It is directly across from a small surfing spot which the locals use. Behind the Kona Bali Kai, there is an expanse of grass, chairs for lounging, barbecues... You can watch the turtles in and around the rocks. You can easily get to a number of local beaches, good spots to sun and people watch, boogie board, snorkel, relax, watch the sunset. You are close enough to Kona Village to go do the touristy thing. There are also many places to shop in that area, for souvenirs, food, clothes, or the big stores for groceries, basic needs. But, it is really nice to be a ways south of that and its business. You are right on the famous Alii Drive, which is a busy street much of the day, but it is not bothersome. At night it is quiet, and you can listen to the surf while you lie in bed. Nice! Rebecca is an excellent host, communicating with you clearly before you arrive, and quick to respond to any questions by email. She even checked with the cleaning people and arranged for us to get in early with our perishable food, which we were bringing from another place on the island. The cost is reasonable for the place, and we highly recommend it to someone who wants to be halfway between a total local experience, and the typical hotel/condo for the tourist experience. Clean and comfortable studio apartment
This studio fit our needs for the 5 days we spent on the Kona side of the island. Clean and comfortable, the bed is very comfortable. We appreciated the use of two great beach chairs and Rebecca also had boogie boards available as well. The kitchen was perfect for what we needed to cook. The only real drawback was the fact that the grill is across the street at the main complex, so we did not use it.
The BEST place to stay in Kona!!
This was our first vacation in Kona Hawaii, and after doing some exploring on the island, and relaxing on beaches, we are convinced that this cozy condo was in the absolute best location!! The view is exactly as pictured. The grass area ocean front is so perfect for relaxing in the sun or shade, watching the waves roll in, watching the local surfers, the boats, kayaks etc. This became our favourite location!! Rebecca had the condo clean, nicely decorated and well stocked with all the necessities for enjoying days on the beach, with beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, and bamboo mats. The kitchen was well stocked for doing some cooking. We were very impressed....we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Rebecca was great with prompt correspondence and provided a very helpful info packet with ideas for places to visit. She was gracious with our check out time, which we really appreciated!! We truly have only good things to report!! We hope we can return some day!! ;)
