Grigsby purchased this apartment in 2009
I liked the fact that the apartment was quiet, and that it retained all its original features - moldings around the ceiling, tall windows, original wood floors, fireplaces. I also like the separate kitchen, and the large closets. Finally, the neighborhood is wonderful - lively and authentic, not touristic.
I love having morning coffee at the cafe on the corner, browsing on rues Monge and Mouffetard, strolling the Botanical Gardens, shopping in the markets, going to evening concerts in local churches, and enjoying the singing and dancing Sundays at Place St. Médard.
This apartment was exactly as depicted in the advertisement. The location is very good in a nice neighborhood close to transportation. The owner provides extensive, complete, detailed information prior to your arrival so that no question is left unanswered. There was a construction barrier in front of the entire building that prevented you from seeing the exterior of the building but it did not impact anything about the apartment itself. I would return to this rental and recommend it to others.
This is a wonderful place for two folks to stay, especially if you’re going to be in Paris for a week or more – good value; cozy, clean and well-equipped accommodations; great Latin Quarter neighborhood near convenient transportation (Metro) and a thousand other great neighborhoods and cafes and restaurants and bakeries...
The apartment is in an elevator building located directly across the street from the National Museum of Natural History, which is on the grounds of the Jardin des Plantes (a huge, main botanical garden in France). The apartment is on a relatively busy street; but do not fear – it’s located in the back, on the first floor (which is the second floor to Americans), overlooking a well-maintained and quiet courtyard.
Recently remodeled, the apartment is virtually picture-perfect if you like classic Parisian style – wood floors, comfortable couch and chairs by a fireplace (candles only); beautifully embroidered curtains; TV. Kitchen is tiny but includes a small refrigerator and, something I’ve never seen before: a combo stove top/oven/dishwasher. There’s adequate glassware, silverware and dishes for use, but you’ll probably be spending most of your time away from home – there’s so much to do.
Apartment is a gem! Having lived in Paris before, I was excited to check out this apartment in the 5th arrondissement and it far exceeded my expectations. Location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, etc and has great access to metro. I often found myself walking "home" on the scenic route down the Seine and stopping at the Jardins des Plantes just across the street. I felt very safe in the area. Fran is a great communicator and sent very thorough info of the area and apartment. Home has everything you need and was very clean and comfortable! THANKS Fran!
We had a wonderful stay in this apartment for 10 days and were impressed with its cleanliness, comfort and location. It was equipped with everything we could possibly need or want in a home away from home. We felt safe and secure in the building and surrounding neighborhood. Fran was timely and thorough in communicating with us and provided us with detailed information about the apartment and neighborhood even before we arrived. Thank you, Fran, for everything!
This apartment is truly a home away from home - well furnished and stocked with everything. Steps away from Rue Mouffetard, Jardin des Plantes, and more, the location couldn't be better. Fran's guest book was a tremendous help with terrific ideas for shopping and restaurants - several nearby were great and just as described! We have already recommended this apartment to several friends! Would definitely stay here again.
This was our first visit to Paris. We could not have chosen a better place to stay. The apartment is beautiful, very well equipped, the owner Fran and the local contact Kit were both easy to deal with.
Really, what more can I say?
The apartment is in the Fifth arrondissement, in the Latin Quarter, on the Left Bank of the Seine. The Mouffetard/Jardin des Plantes neighborhood has great universities, winding residential streets, creative shopping and lively nightlife. The street and courtyard are quiet, but the neighborhood brims with cafés, restaurants, bakeries, wine and cheese shops, bookstores, boutiques, cinemas, theaters, and two open-air markets.
