About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-6)

Come and enjoy this 1500 square foot (2300 under roof), log-sided cabin!

This Non-Smoking cabin features wall to wall wood floors, fourteen foot cathedral ceilings, sixteen foot sliding glass doors in the family room that open onto a sixty foot deck overlooking a truly breathtaking spectacular westward view. Each bedroom is oversized and the master bedroom has a king size bed while the 2nd room has queen size bed. Both have a large private bathroom and sliding glass doors that also open up onto the massive deck. A double sided gas fireplace enhances the family room and master bedroom. All amenities are new. Enjoy incredible romantic sunsets every evening from the partially covered 60 x 12 deck that faces West, only to be followed by a display of shooting stars later that night while roasting marsh-mellows around the fire pit. You can faintly hear and see the Smokey Mountain Scenic Train from 4000 feet up as it transverses the mountain side twice daily.

This cabin is centrally located to the area in order to provide visitors with the convenience of easy accessability to many of the local attractions. This area is known as the recreational center of the southeast. Whether your interest is golf, fishing, hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, shoping or sightseeing you'll spend no more than 15 to 20 min. in the car to get there. Spend the day aboard the The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad for a day of sightseeing. The Natahala Outdoor Center(NOC)is a favorite for many families interested in class 2 & 3 rafting. Try your luck at Harrah's Casino and don't forget to visit the Biltmore Estates. Want a romantic historic evening out for dinner? Our favorite is the Frymont Inn in Bryson City. We have enjoyed many of these activities each and every year, we hope you do too.

About steve

Susie and I had the opportunity to build this cabin in 2003. We recently decided to share our experiences with this unique getaway of North Carolina with others.

Why steve chose Smoky Mountains

Bryson City give us that small town feel that just happens to be centrally located for a lot of outdoor adventures such as; biking, rafting, lake and river fishing. Our view is hard to beat.

What makes this cabin unique

A very unique and peaceful Westward view. Sunsets are amazing. Evening skys are speckled with stars. Just enough seclusion to escape the daily grind.

Amazing mountain views with spectacular sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

Heaven's Gate is a beautifully decorated, very clean cabin equipped with all the amenities of home. We ate every meal on the expansive covered deck enjoying the ever-changing views of the Smokies. There is a charcoal grill next to the fire pit which is a great place to sit to watch the sunsets enjoying a s'more. We drive a mini van and made it up the mountain with no problems in good weather. It's a lovely place to stay in the NC mountains!

Heavenly Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Heaven's Gate cabin is indeed aptly named. Spectacular views from way high up overlooking a vast mountain landscape. The cabin is immaculately cleansing a huge deck, and a porch swing. 2 master bedrooms, open living, dining and kitchen with vaulted ceiling. Words and photos simply cannot describe the beauty of this place. Working with the owner Dr. Steve Cox,was great. Our trip was shortened due to a family emergency and we had to leave in a hurry to get home on time.... My mom died! The owner was compassionate and caring. We will be back for sure!

Loved this NC Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at this beautiful cabin earlier this month. The cabin was beautiful - open with beautiful views from inside and the spacious deck outside. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We did not have 4 wheel drive and were thankful it didn't rain much as the drive up takes some getting use to especially for us from flat Florida! We enjoyed white water rafting and the Fontana Dam. Also, the Cork and Bean in Bryson City was great for dinner. The only negative was the internet. We use our iPads when we travel a lot and the internet was extremely slow. We had to resort to boosting it from our iPhones, which cut into our data. Other than that it was a lovely stay.

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My 17 year old son, his friend and I spent 5 days at Heaven's Gate. The pictures do not due the home justice, it is absolutely beautiful and very clean. I've stayed in cabins and would not categorize this as a cabin; it is a spacious, peaceful home that was a welcome retreat. The area is beautiful; we white water rafted, went tubing, hiking and just enjoyed the gorgeous view from the deck.

It took some time getting used to the drive up the mountain, but once you are there....you are surrounded by the beauty that is North Carolina!

WONDERFUL

  • 5 of 5

My wife and two daughters had a fantastic stay at Heaven's Gate. It is a wonderful cabin and our favorite feature was the porch. It's a fairly easy drive from the bottom of the mountain and in less than 10 minutes from the last bit of pavement you'll be staring at Tennessee and will be able to see the highest mountains in the Smokies. We spent one day rafting at NOC - which is a very scenic 30 minute drive 'door to raft' and did some hiking on the AT the next day. I highly recommend this cabin.

Appropriately Named

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely stunning view, exceeded our expectations! The cabin is very nice as well! We hated to leave the expansive covered deck, amazing sunsets, and beautiful morning cloud wrapped mountain scene. Owners were very accommodating and easy to work with. Quick to respond to all inquiries or questions we had. Perfect location! We will definitely be planning a return trip!
